For all ye European suckers
Do we have any citizens of the European Union in here? Jolly good, cause I'm about to let all of the international bunch collected here know of something stupid and embarrasing that we do with our money here.
Wholly apart from the fact that I want some of you Union citizens to sign and pass on the information, this is so highly amusing that it's worth spreading around just for the sake of a good laugh.
Translated e-mail follows:
Read and contemplate:
In the European Parliament there is a praxis to, once a month, move the whole parliamet with all its members and staff and nigh all the office material from Brussel for a few days work in Strasbourg.
The only reason for this is because France want it so very much.
99% of the costs - about 200 million Euros a year - is paid by all the other member states. Following a Swedish initivative, a number of parliament members from different countries have taken the intiative [I know I know, I'm just translating, K?] to a petition to end this waste of EU-money.
1 million names is needed to bring this onto the agenda with the European comission. Within two days almost 25000 names had been gathered and the 22 June it is close 700 000 - but one million is what's needed!
Therefore go to www.oneseat.eu
to sing the petition and help end this absurd extravaganza
/End of letter
Pathetic. Long live the union, cause at least it delays the next European war, and this does not help.

What's that we usually hear about European efficiency?

European efficiency? As oxymorons go, that has to be up there with American intelligence and French nobility. German efficiency on the other hand, should not be underestimated. The swines.

Now now FBS, this time I think you came in on it on the wrong angle. The Eurpean parliament isn't a large organisation. It's gargantuan, massive. Now, if you're moving something like that halfway across a continent to "work some days in Strasbourg" then you bloody well has made a demonstration of efficency. Granted, it's like demonstrating the power of a Saturn V-rocket by aiming it somewhere in between Neptune and Uranus to show that, yep, it can go that far.
And yes, Germans are efficent. Except when building something, like a building. Dear goodness.
But, this is the way of it. We spend 200 million euros a year at moving something around because, basically, France is demonstrating what I up here, shed of all formalia and style, call EGO-CENTERED CHILDISCHNESS, mixed up with a strong sympthom of teen-age style uncertanity of one's identity.

I already signed it. 200 Million Euros a year is fucking too much just for a symbolic gesture.
By the way, which country are you from, Amadeus?

FBS: No, I haven't; but that can be quickly fixed if it's good. Who's the author?
TTT: Have you seen the damn thing? If someone was to call in a bombthreat against the Eiffel tower I think it would have me laughing more than anything else. That thing distorts the space-time-web around its foundations.
Slabbefusk: Good going, that man.
BFB: Sweden.
By the way, it struck me that it might be interesting to know - do we have any French members here?

No, they're too busy transporting all that bureaucratic nonsense to Strasbourg to have the time to post here.

It's too BIG. The European Union is a mosquito's fart in a hurricance compared to the Eiffel tower. Sorry man.
