So, how did we all discover Metaltabs?
If we remember that is, because some of us have been here a very long time.
I'm quite interested in finding out.

I personally discovered Metaltabs when I was pointed here by a dogpile.com search for Roots Bloody Roots tabs, about September 2004. Then when I got a guitar and got more into extreme metal, I started shying away from mxtabs and started coming here more for tabs. Then June 2005, I joined and tabbed Cars by Fear Factory from knowledge as a 'first effort'.

Was doing some guitar parts research on google, clicked this site for the fuck of it, found nothing helpful but read some funny shit, lurked for a week reading even more funny shit, decided I liked the way most members thought about metal, and joined to have fun and to help some those with lesser gear knowledge.

i came here to comment on the gravity blast in the drum forum, something about the bezerker drummer in a certain thread, i only intended to post a few times on that subject.

im mostly here for band recomandations, ive gotten into some killer stuff by word off this site.

im a member of a drum forum too but hardly ever post. too many 70s hard rock/zepplin/beatles dorks and jazz geeks that dont give metal proper respect.

I knew my kid was here and I wanted an unbiased alternative to see if my writing really was as good as some on tc said it was. When walpurgis was in bootcamp I pulled some resources from people here to make him a cd of favorite stuff and got acquainted with some folks that are pretty cool. I copied and printed some well wishes for him, too.

I used to post on MXtabs..it quickly became very ghey..so I eventually said "fuck this place" and came aboard to metaltabs.


The first tabs I used here were Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Ozzy and Slayer(well, I attempted at the time). But I didn't join until a few years after.

Looking for Nile tabs. There was only Sarcophagus so I tabbed the whole In Their Darkened Shrines album. I had to register in order to submit the tabs. I ventured forth unto the marvels of this fine forum and was bedazzled by idiocy at almost every turn. I had to stay. I became a mod and can now punish idiocy. I haven't banned anybody for a while.

I believe it was a link from mx tabs. I used the tabs and lurked for quite some time as i had nothing to say I guess. I joined to buy a guitar from classifieds and then stuck around.

Friend told me that he came here for metal tabs. I eventually started coming for Death Guitar tabs but there wasn't shit but a few semi decient ones. I submitted some Darkest hour tabs and said fuck it i'm going to post some of my lyrics and see what people think.

I read some lyrics and figured it would be pretty cool to get others opinions on my own lyrics to better my own music.

I was a member of hempcultivation420 marijuana community, studying marijuana growing. It was the first and only forum I had ever joined, and i stayed there reading/posting learning how to grow. I got that over and done with, kinda started moving away from the fascination with pot and getting into music. They were FUCKING strict there... Everyone there were like 30yr+ stoners aswell so yeah...
So i got into music and started learning songs.
I'd say I probably came here for Opeth tabs at first, I think i used ultimate guitar but they didnt have as much good shit as here. Actually I think i might have come here for Patterns in the Ivy because nobody else had it at the time, im not sure - i know i retabbed it after learning it tho because the previous way was queer.
Then i discovered the forum, at which time I probably was having problems figuring out my fucking floyd rose, actually i remember posting a long time ago about the brand of guitar I owned because i was trying to trace back where the fucker was made...

I was shocked by the sheer shite quality of tabs at guitar universe that I decided to tab some Priest tunes someone on the forum had requested, one of the posts had a link to 'Riding on the Wind' on our fav green screen site. I was impressed with the work guys were doing and the really strict quality control utilised on the pending tabs so I joined.....and the rest as they say is misery for you lot!

I wanted to learn harmonics, cos it was the ''ultimate guitar technique'' at that time in school. I looked everywhere for it and then i ended up here. Thought that i would join because i had some unanswered questions. Then i dropped it for awile and then came back. And here I am.

I think I actually joined because I wanted to start tabbing stuff. The first tab I did was the Fear Factory cover of Gary Numan's Cars. I remember being exhilarated that Dahmers Fridge liked it because it reminded you of something similar.
I then went off to take on Meshuggah's then-recently released Catch 33. I was slower to actually get in about the other forums.

I remember. You tabbed out a Nile song for my birthday a month after you joined. Defiling The Gates of Ishtar maybe? Can't remember, was 2 years ago.

I first stumbled upon the domain metaltabs.com when a fellow called Paul De Jaegher owned it, through a search engine way back in 2000. He had pretty crappy tabs on here. I used of few of them for a few months or so. Now, from memory, this guy didn't own the site for too long. Little over a year. I was pleasantly surprised when Nomad acquired the domain name from him and put up a heap of Cannibal Corpse tabs, I think.

I read the forum for awhile, but I was a bit hesitant to join in because most of the regular posters, from what I could make of it, seemed to all know each other from a previous forum (which turned out to be atmetal.com). I lost interest for awhile, but checked back in sometimes. Finally joined in 2003 to reply to a thread I found interesting. Fuck knows what. I think I was correcting a post about Carcass.

Atleast reading the forums for a few years made me wary on what I said around certain individuals.

i found it looking for tabs to God Dethroneds "Iconoclast Deathride". at the time i was just starting guitar, and i couldnt even begin to tab the solo myself. i dont think i found the tab or solo, but i noticed that i thought it was cool how people had tabs up and ratings, so i wanted to tab too. and as many others said, i read here (tabs and forum) for a while before i joined. and, fuck, was that a mistake.

Well Pantera is band number 1 on there I do believe, I figure they would do that in order... Cowboys From Hell is the first tab too I think... I just figured those were the first things to be up here...

nomad probably put up a bunch of Pantera tabs when he first took over (atmetal was a Pantera and Napalm Death tab site), but it's more than likely that Jarrod didn't give a shit about them but did about the Cannibal Corpse ones. He's saying what made him take notice about this place, not the precise and official chronological history of what was tabbed when and by whom.
