Ok well, check out how much this sucks:
I ordered it on PPV for 40$ and right when the fight is gonna start, a god damn thunder storm comes buy and the cable went out or something and now I cant watch the god damn fight. I tried calling the cable company and they keep putting me on hold. So after 30 min.'s of on hold, I leave them one pissed off message and the channel wont come back and I'm ready to snap someones neck.

Well considering there are probably about 8 of those 10,000 posts that might almost be semi-intelligent, I don't know for sure that it's understood.

UFC is pretty sweet, but my fucking cable doesn't work in my room, so I can't watch it...or anything. God damn it. But I've seen a few bits here and there of Gracie, and I like his style, so I hope he kicks some ass.

i kinda agree about the new fanbase as ufc becomes more mainstream, its becoming a "jock" sport thats attracting the meathead elements of our beloved american culture. granted the US fans always consists of gamblers,sadists,rednecks gone wild in vegas anyways there are some people that actually believe its a true contest of martial arts.

It's entertaining and Royce Gracie's a fucking viper. It's also overhyped. Things can be both cool and incredibly overrated. Many things are. UFC happens to be one of those things.

ive seen some spreads on a few cards and could easily of made money. its like this wierd period in time where the bookholder and people willing to throw cash down's knowledge hasnt caught up

the spreads always indicate, like boxing, the bigger dude, the guy whos hyped, they go by fighter records unaware of the discreprency of rules and criteria different orgs hosts fights under,quality of orgs,quality of competition its truely amazing. looking at some Pride FC spreads, complete denial of reality.

i bet gracie was actually ahead on some spreads, thats how stupid people are

low-tech - You forget how utterly dominant Gracies used to be. Guys like me who grew up watching the first MMA fights, especially the ones with Rickson, were essentially watching the March of the Gracies. Now, it's a very different game - EVERYONE cross-trains, EVERYONE knows how to 'read' a fight and prepare for a specific opponent, and EVERYONE bar the SHW is conditioned so well you might think they ran on 12-cylinder engines. Hughes is a superb fighter and tough as boiled horsemeat. It'll be interesting at least.

Transient - You can blow me 'til Tuesday. "just a fad" my sainted rectum. Right now, at this very second, it's bigger than it's ever been. Fighters are coming in from all over the place, new combinative styles are starting to cope with the demands of MMA fighting, tournaments and minor leagues are starting to pop up. It's ultimate combat and anyone who already liked combat sports is probably in love with it by now. I don't care what kind of macho arsepuddles you know who are into it, that doesn't make it a bad, boring or unworthy of discussion.

ha. i actually just started watching this shit, and i gotta tell ya, i prefer boxing. floyd mayther and de la hoya are beasts among men with discipline.

UFC is more hardcore, but half the time it's wrestling with quite a few barbaric twists. except liddel (sp?). that dude is a freak. sure Ultimate Fighting includes a lot more techniques, but boxing is what i prefer.


also, i'd like to add that the poker fad is a disgrace. sure, there is a lot of easy money now days, but we are creating gambling addicts. it's a good time to become a loan shark

one thing that strikes me about UFC is that it may be a very cleverly timed cash in. remember WWE and all that homo-erotic glam wrestling? the people who liked that are a little bit older now, and will have nostalgic feelings for man on man wrestling, and itll be "ok" because they wont be in brightly colored spandex

To a certain extent everything that's successful is a cleverly-timed cash in. Just like every band you've heard of necessarily sold out to be in that position. But you show a huge ignorance of both UFC and the WWF if you think that the scenario you just proposed has an ounce of truth in it. The latter can't be said to have a single period of success that would make the plan make sense, and the former was created more or less as a promotional tool for the Gracie dojo, not for itself. But nice theory.

Bullshit. If you get to watch it Gracie is looking for a submission when hughes is pounding him and then the ref steps in. It almost looked like Gracie thought he would eat a few punches so he could open Hughes up.

I have been a fan of the UFC since the first days of Shamrock, Gracie, Severan, Tank Abbot...when there were no rules(no eye gouching and fish hooking..that was it), no weight groups, no time limits and no little gloves.(Which I think are a lot better because it used to be a elimination Tourtament and all the guys would break their hands)

It's great to watch it now, though, the popularity of it now definitely didn't harm it.

I have a big pissed off story about not seeing UFC 60.
