i guess i'm the only one thats voted so far..but i picked no. i've seen them in concert...tried getting into thier music...i can listen to it and actually have a few songs but i think theres a line somewhere in the haze where shit just gets too crazy and random and starts sounding like ass. original sounding sure (as far as i can tell) but queen was pretty original and i dont listen to them either

They are the "new breed" of grind, that is pretty much craziness, spaz, and grind. And yes, they are one of my favorite bands.

they are insane. New album due out soon. "Hell Songs." Can't wait.

i put them on the fringe of hardcore... when i saw them on tour..it was with a bunch of hardcore bands...i think its just hardcore trying to sound crazy and weird...to weird in my opinion

Daughters does not sound anything like any of the three. And might I add, there is a huge difference between all the music that gets lumped in hardcore, and the stuff that is actually hardcore.

But I'm not starting this conversation, because it never goes anywhere, and everyone just comes out looking like an idiot.

I love this band if your into them cheak out bad acid trip and holy molar there same style wich i consider to be noize and most people i know consider them the same thing.

they are a combination of providence style noise rock with a grindcore structure of songs.

they definately get alot of shit from people for no reason. they rarely play locally even. we have a slight ayahtollah-mullah system here within the scene that currently doesnt approve of them. as i said before, thier live show owns 95% of metal bands ive seen period. louder,tighter,more intense and without the high-budget micing,triggering,PA sound support.

why all the hate?, is anyone here dissapointed that,you know, some band doesnt try to rewrite the new cannibal corpse or suffocation album and pass that shit off as being original,unique, i dare say innovative or at least interesting. oh, what....there is no arpeggio sweeps and notation/masterbation of the truest most brooooootal order.

how dare some band try to sound different. the status quo within metal is fucking rediculous. some of you guys are almost as retard as jazz drummers

It's not that avant-garde. It's basically just jazz progression mixed with powerviolence. + the band Copeater is doing the same thing except they came out earlier, sound nuttier, and it's just two guys.

ill have to check copeater out then. im not claiming daughters is the most technical or the most original beyond the fact that i think they are a good band. what irks me is the restistance i hear and read about bands that are doing something a bit different. i think that bands that border on our preconceptions of what is musical is interesting, and im into bands that experiment. orthodoxy and purism killed enough genres of music already.

I listen to a lot of noise now because there is always something new going on and it never seems to lose my attention. Most people either hate it or just plain don't get it. If you use your imagination noise can be anything you want it to be.

youd be suprised how interconnected the new york/san diego/providence scenes are. everyone seems to know each other. my former band opened a show with melt banana and an albatross. there is a guy in town who videotaped the whole show and if i get it ill post it up

i think the noise rock stuff locally,stuff comming out of japan and on the west coast is one of the most exciting music scenes of the present, late 90 to now is like what thrash and hardcore was thru the 80s. its a fucking tsunami of energy, the last hurrah of fringe/marginal underground music imo

If you want to actually get into it more check out stuff from RRRecords, Load Records, and Hospital Productions (run by my favorite act, right now, Prurient).

Oh yeah GO HERE and read at least the first page ( and the "Bands Watch List" page) because it's hilarious.

load records huh?, dude i was in a band called necronomitron, i have a release under load, toured with lightning bolt in 2003, we were gonna do a split with an albatross before my band fell apart and a second release probably under load

hospital productions, i know dominick,he went to risd and lived in providence, 2 of my previous bands have songs released in a comp he did "ole tyme lemonade" under hospital productions

Nice. Lightning Bolt was so fucking loud when I saw them, it was amazing. I was trying to get some shit released up in Milwalkee somewhere, but I don't know where to look because it's hard to find people that actually like noise. Any suggestions or should I just keep looking and hope to get lucky?

i really dont know how to answer that one, the music scene here is really small but amazing, basically i came here from virginia because 1>i had friends here whod lend a couch 2>because of the music scene.

i came here with the intention to form a band,tour, make records etc. my advise to anyone is to self-produce a demo<perhaps a hundred to sell> and book a tour<week long to a year long>and continue touring and gigging by any means necessary, get to know bands,venues and labels and if people like what you are doing someone will approach you about releasing your material.

alot of folks make the decision of moving to a place where there is an established scene for the music you are into,thats what i did. but this not necessary as long as your working on stuff and happy about it. the main thing is touring and converting audiences into fans, thats all i can really say, im far from an expert about being in a sucessful band.

my band necronomitron fell apart in leu of a possibly joining a 5 week tour, a split 7" deal, a full record release from load,so basically we blew it, complete utter failure.

but im starting from scratch with a new band so, maybe opportunities will come in the future maybe not, but if the crowds love it, anything is possible
