Can I post something that hasnt been composed in G.P... as midi?
For the record I compose in Finale, similar to G.P, but more user-friendly imo.

This is alot harder than it seems, but however with the right inspiration in mind it can be simple.

The Measure of Entropy - John Rozycki
Ok, Heres the song I wrote... I wrote the drums last night - for a 3 hour job I think theyre ok... Anyway this is definantly my best attempt at composition so I hope you guys enjoy.
Background info: Song's completely written in B harmonic Minor, 200 bpm, took me about 10 hours to write, 3min 09secs, 2 solos, midi blasts... all good hehe. Oh and theyre 7 string guitars (since i'm a 7 string player) and also a 5 string bass.
Midi sucks so bad. I had the files in wma format (which sounds better) but they were 1.5 mb so fuck that.
Robbie F.. I know damn well how hard it is to write a song. Seeing as I have 16 weeks before performance, and every 2nd week time in class dedicated to the cause, I'm not gonna stop until every riff is absolute perfection. I guess that's the secret to composing. Time and dedication.
Constuctive criticism VERY welcome...
Anyway, enjoy...(and keep in mind that midi is your enemy).
Oh and BTW.. The high notes are supposed to be Pinch Harmonics but finale doesnt have that option .
Do you guys think the guitars aren't loud enough? The damn notes (although low) sure dont have clarity. Damn B string.

haha yeah, unfortunantly the MIDI worked best with acoustic guitar and bass, Distortion and Overdrive sound... I dunno... so fucked up and hard to explain, like air rushing through a 'distortion chamber'.
Sorry that's my best comparison.

I should be done my song shortly. I just had a hard time coming up with new riffs lol . I'm not sure if this one will be as good as the previous ones, but I feel that it's decent enough to participate in the contest.

I'll change my song. The new song should be ready by tomorrow. It has some cool jazz piano there.

Hey I was thinking maybe it would be fun to have like themes for the contests like ok:
Death Metal
Black Metal
Power Metal
Grind
Old School Heavy
Video Game Music
TV Theme Show Music
Jazz Metal
Pop [haha that would be funny]
You know themes for what type of music you have to write each week. I thought it was a cool idea.

Actually, that's an excellent idea. Usually, the genres of each song in the past contests are too different from one another so you can't tell which one to vote for, as you are not too sure of which kind of music you really want to hear at that moment. It would also be more challenging to have a precise theme to aim at.

Yeah I think it's a good idea too.. Like Transylvania said.. it would definately add a bit of challenge to the contests.
EDIT: Great song Transylvania.. Good solo and acoustic part.
