i have to ask, what is SO wrong with boy bands? now before i get a thousand responses telling me they suck becos they are 'gay', or that im gay for questioning it, make sure your reply actually has some substance please.

Well, for me in my own little world I just cannot relate to these sorts of bands. They just dont have the deep sorrowfulness that is closest to me. Plus, on a musical side, they are nowhere near as talented as bands such as Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom and pretty much any decent band thats ever mentioned on this forum. And y the hell do they have to be so HAPPY all the goddamn time, lol.

1) They sound empty without any real depth in the music.
2) The lyrics are always either about loving someone or breaking up ect. I'd like to think that there is more to life than this.
3) They ask for the barrage of gay calling by the'yre attitude, I mean come on, 5 guys in a band appearing to get all aroused by their music? there's gotta be something gay about that.
4) Where's the variety? they all sound the same and all the songs sound the same, in metal at least there is variety such as Nightwish, Lacuna Coil,Iced Earth fuck every band has their different sound.
5) Lack of experimentation eg. Iced Earth use monks at the end of The Coming Curse to add variety, their are many other examples of this in Iced Earth's like "Damien" choir in the intro, I'm sure their are other example but I'm an Iced Earth freak right now.
6) sound is too artifical, there aren't real people playing the instruments half the time which adds to the emptiness, all the songs are sooooooo edited it's not funny( I mean edited with too many shity effects).
7)The lack of atmosphere in songs, the songs I listen to in metal are always atmosphereic, they take you to another place with the music, this I find lacks in boy bands, they're too busy talking about love.
8)lack of musicology, the songs are soooooooo musically simple, I've never even heard any sycopation in songs, always on the beat and always chords becomes tedious in seconds.
9)they're gay (that's just to piss you off)

oh and boy bands stink because they're basically created and manufactured to make money. like o-town. they weren't five guys who knew eachother real well and had a dream to make music and be famous, they were picked out from auditions by some old dude who had a dream to make money with a boy band. they're too artificial. and they are always non-threatening pretty boys so the girls will buy the cd and touch themselves to the pics inside of the "hot guys".'cause why does every boy band have 5 members, do you really need that many members. i think it's because girls have more variety of guys to fantasize about. they make extra money off posters of the guys and stuff.
and although it does take a bit of talent to memorize a few lyrics and dance routines, and to sing and dance at the same time.......but their dancing sucks. it's not impressive. they make 'em dance, 'cause they'd look weird if they just stand there. and they stand there 'cause they don't play the instruments. maybe i'd have a little respect for them if they at least played their own instruments. like BBMak. but they're just music just plain sucks (look at a few of bigglen's reasons).

That's pretty much my only reason now that I actually think about it, aside from lack of musicians...I don't need blazing solos in music, but I'd rather listen to an instrumental than just singing, which is a basic inverse of it...

I don´t like Boy Bands because

1) they just "sing". I love it, when they sing a capella. You just hear one song, every time. Seems they just can sing that song quite well.

2) they often do not write the songs by themselves.

3) there´s not much talent in these bands ( some exceptions for sure)

Put these three things in a line "just sing"-> "no songwriting" -> "no talent".
I wonder that there´s a song at the end!!!

4) nothing touches me in their songs. I get sometimes gooseskin because of nice riffs, solos or atmosphere that is built in a song. At the end of Dream Theater´s "Metropolis pt.!!" you can nearly cry.

5) they (or the producers) don´t have the courage to try something new. Just the same over and over again. What about weird rhythms, instruments or just an concept-album?

At the moment i hate "Natural" most. Just smiling having, goddamn good equipment, and jumping in their song although there´s nothing to jump for!!!

i find it interesting that all you people who hate boy bands so much seem to know so much about them. you know that they dont write their own songs, that they are all aparently manufactured, they dont play their own intstruments, they are totally untalented! such extensive knowlegde coming from ppl who have heard how many songs??

funnily enough, there ARE other genres of music out there. and just because they dont sing about death and dark stuff and have 'mad solos and riffs' they arent talented.
not all boy bands songs are about love, not all the bands are manufactured nor have 5 members. many do write there own music and lyrics, but you would know this had you actually had something to base your opinions on.
and ill just ignore the comment about them getting aoused on stage. its not worth the time.
