Ok, I was caught with a cell phone at school the other day, so I have been in In school suspension for like 3 days for my punishment. I got my phone back at the end of my first day. Now that I have served my time, I am back in school. But today I found out that they are trying to send me to alternative school for possession of-get this- pornography. Turns out they looked on my photo album on my phone..... If I go to alt. school I may loose my academic team scholarship..... how do I get out of this one?

ha, i went to ALC (what they call down hurr in texas) for, i bet you can guess, bein under the influence of good 'ol marijuana. it was my last semseter of highschool, otherwise i woulda been kicked out, because i went to a "magnet school." and i must say, it wasnt too bad. dont be afraid about college or anything, 2 of my friends who got caught with me still got into UT-with a scholarship.

Did you get caught USING your cell phone, or was it in the teacher's sight when you opened your book bag or whatever you kept it in? If it was the latter, a suspension is a little severe. But ther'e no reason to use your cell phone in school, and it's stupid to do so when you know the consequences and aren't mature enough to deal with them.

As for the porn they found, they had no right searching through it. Why you have porn or not is your business, and it's not like you were parading around school showing your porn to everyone, right?

Im pretty sure that the whole cell phone thing is pretty different over here compared to you guys in the US. Everyone here over 7 years old got one, and some people don`t even have a home phone. Bringing the cell phone to school is allowed, as long as it is set on mute. If someone calls you up or sends an sms in middel of class ( and the it is not set to mute), the phone will be confiscated, but you`ll get it back after class. No big deal at all.

a. Know that the phone can be confiscated, and
b. Decided to keep something pornographic on your phone anyway,
in doing so you've tacitly acknowledged the risk of your being sent to the alternative learning center for having something with pornographic images in a place you're not allowed to have it, and the consequence of that is taking your punishment. Stupid rules, yes, but one thing you have to do in this life is learn how to interact with the stupid rules you're going to run up against.

this is a tad rediculous, but i completely back you when you say they looked at your pictures in your phone. fuck that, they shouldnt have done that. maybe that is something you can seriously use against them. im not sure, but you need to get the facts and try. not only can you possibly save your own ass for them looking into your phone, but you can probably get them in trouble for it. once again, im not sure, but its worth looking into.

Well I personally don't like them because its a pain in the ass to get around it if you don't want to have all of those options.

For example, you get straight FUCKED by this big black guy if you're caught on certain parts of the Navy base with a camera phone, because pictures aren't authorized in a lot of areas. And people seem to love the most irritating fucking ringtones that you can put on those.

Other than that, I don't care. But to the author of this thread, you might be able to get around some of the punishment because of the privacy thing, I don't remember how that works in schools, but I'm sure you were well aware of what was on your phone and well aware of the consequences, so fight it and if you can't, well, in Navy terms, Get Fucked.

I guess "hate" is too strong of a word. It's more of a pet peeve. You're sitting peacefully in a class room trying to learn (if it's an interesting class. If not, then you're trying to sleep). Suddenly, someone who forgot to turn off their cell phone has it ringing this techno version of some song, and instead of trying to turn it off, they want to listen to the whole song, and all you want to do is hti them in the face with something blunt for bring it to school.

If it isn't ringing, then they are just playing with it. Either text messaging their friends, playing games... ok, this part doesn't bother me that much. I just think what they're doing isn't a good idea. But say you're in a class that requires everyone else's participation. Such as band. How can you be studying your music, playing your instrument, or listening to the teacher's imput if you're checking your email on your phone. Stuff like that can wait.

I guess what I'm trying to say it's not as much a "I fucking hate everything that has to do with pop culture" as it is a "I fucking hate things that create incompetance."
