We have too many questionnaires that imply that any kind of drinking outside of occasional social actually indicates a drinking problem. The truth is that it takes some time and work to get addicted. You have to really put in some hours before you can earn a problem. This sounds facetious but isn't entirely. Your body doesn't build up dependencies as quickly as some people do emotionally. Such as the OP.

To be honest, though, you probably shouldn't drink when you're depressed. It leads to unexpected results.

So the way to deal with it is to realize how little it means on a real scale and how much more important it is to move on than to keep any individual person. Fidelity is one thing, but kids get the instinct to fuck - and keep in mind the only purpose we serve on Earth is to pass on genetic material - and assign a lot more importance to it than they need to, just like anything else they feel strongly.
