Cannibal Corpse fucking ruined Roots...!
The tempo changed ALL the time.
The vocal's timing was out on too many occasions to ignore.
That "Why..." verse, what the fuck is that?
No solo.
No tribal feel which made the original great.
The guitar's also sounded suspiciously like Six Feet Under...
One cover WAY greater than the original is Decapitated's take on Mandatory Suicide. The song is actually becomes exciting in their hands.

I've heard a Pantera cover of Raining Blood, although the 'Bag stopped before the hyper-speed riff.
I didn't know they covered Paranoid either.

Yeah, I suppose.
It's still trashy compared to some great covers I've heard though, especially the Decap' one I stated. Fear Factory doing Gary Numan was a cool cover too. A good cover, I think, should kind of surprise, you, too. Faith to the original feel should be attempted too, I think.

NORTHER'S COVER OF THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive heard another band cover The final countdown and they should be shot for playing it that way, they sped it up and thought that the guitar could take the place of the kickass horn synth. im sure they fealt stupid enough after hearing norther make the original even better.

CANNIBAL CORPSE DID NOT COVER ROOTS Someone asked Corpsegriner in an interview and he was like 'What? If we were gonna cover Sepultura it would be something from an earlier album than that' And yeah, I think thats Six Feet Under anyway....

Bodom's cover of Shot in the Dark was pretty cool. I liked Laiho's rendition of Rebel Yell better than Billy Idol's version. Haha. What a gay thread.

Megadeth- Paranoid. Dave really puts some enerjy into the song, I love it,
Anything by Anal Cunt of course,
Born in a Casket- Dying Fetus
Though, one that really disapointed me (sucked ass) was Amon Amarth's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. That was terrible.
And might I add my band's shitty cover of sweating bullets, haha

Draconis - The Final Command
Draconis did a killer version of Slayer's underated song, The Final Command on the Gateway to Hell album. The lead isn't as sloppy as it was on the orignal plus the black/death vocals slay.

Megadeth - These Boots
Sentenced did an awesome (melodic) death metal cover of the Trooper too, although most people usually mistake that to be a Bodom song. Vader's Freezing Moon was pretty sweet, also.

Angelcorpse - Demon Seed(Morbid Angel)
Behemoth - Day of Suffering(Morbid Angel). Ok not better than the original, but awesome.
Napalm Death - Lowlife(Cryptic Slaughter), Maggots in your Coffin(Repulsion), and Nazi Punks Fuck Off(Dead Kennedys, WAY better than the original).
Vader - Silent Scream(Slayer), We Are the League(Anti-Nowhere League), Death Metal(Possessed), Angel Of Death(Thin Lizzy), Total Disaster(Destruction). Almost all Vader covers, they are the fucking kings of band covers, and thanks to them I got into over half a dozen of bands.
ND's cover for Kreator's Riot of Violence is an honorable mention, it's equally as good as the original.

Any Slayer cover, because the Slayer voice just sucks.
Good example: Cradle of Filth - Hell Awaits
Children of Bodom - Silent Scream

Gorgoroth - Life Eternal Mainly because his vocals kick the shit out of Attila's
Dark Funeral - Remember the Fallen (Sodom)
Immortal - To Walk the Infernal Fields I don't really like it better than Darkthrone's,but just as much.

Ny favorite cover:
Judas Priest - Diamonds & Rust [originally by Joan Baez]
It's not everyday a band takes a most unmetal folk tune and turns it into a total atmospheric pounder like Priest did with this one. They really made it their own. The live version from "Unleashed In The East" kicks ass with the delayed guitar tricks in the intro.
Least Favorite Cover:
Slayer - Dissedent Agressor [originally by Judas Priest]
Slayer had like 10 years to think of a way to make this song better and heavier, and they failed.

I cannot help myself doing such things. It is a genetic disorder I think.
I also do not like power metal voices, like the Iron Maiden voice (even if you guys say it is not power metal), the Primal Fear voice and the Mystic Prophecy voice. I am always glad if a band covers an IM song:
Cradle of Filth - Hell Awaits
Graveworm - Fear of the Dark (most people still think this is a Cradle cover. It definitely is not)
After Forever - The Evil That Men Do
|

This is sorta random, but you wouldnt happen to know what year Behemoth recorded their Carnage cover, would you? It sounds like its a Satanica-era song, so maybe 2000?

Children of Bodom did a better cover of "The Final Countdown" than Norther, in my opinion, but Norther nailed it as well, I just prefer the thrashier version by CoB.
Catamenia's cover of that W.A.S.P song on "Location Cold" is awesome..

Yeah. 2000 is when all of these bands recoreded the covers.

As far as my copy of Satanica goes, Carnage wasn't on it, or any cover. They did cover it on that live DVD they made however (you know the one, from Poland, same stage, same fucked up sound).

I haven't heard that yet! Gotta go find it now that you bring it up. Yeah, Wood of Infinity are pretty sweet. I just kinda got into them maybe a year ago.
