You are right PST in many aspects of your last post, especially the isolation from the whites. In my province there are Indian reservations(which are very common in North America) and more or less strickly black communities..which were designated when the City of Halifax bulldozed "Africville." Africville did not have plumbing or electricity, as the government at the time would not allow it.

Point: Just because something wasn't done in your generation doesn't mean it has no effect on you, especially if it hasn't been undone. Do something to change that or learn to live with the situation.

That table is comparing Miller's stats to those of various other beers that Miller distributes, so abv is the obvious standard. I actually wouldn't be surprised if it were the standard now in general; the information I was going on is a little old and the American and International beer scenes are better integrated than they once were.

Southern beer isn't any stronger. You drink beer primarily made in Northern states, anyway. But Lone Star's just as weak as anything from Milwaukee. Alcohol is much cheaper in the South, though, which I appreciate.

To be totally honest, despite the position I've taken here I'm unsympathetic to a lot of complaints, such as this one. Without knowing more about it, I'd be inclined to say: people who choose to live outside of the government's effective range should accept the fact that they are as free from its help as from its control. Either that freedom is worth the price paid in support, or it isn't, in which case they should do something about it (i.e. move or offer some kind of incentive for government involvement) or shut up. I don't know the specifics, but if that's the case I think they need to do more than complain. If they want to maintain their tradition they have to accept that part of the rejection of white modernity is the rejection of its infrastructure. Nobody in a large group of people gets to have things his way; everybody compromises. It's stupid to expect the world to work in a manner pleasing to you, and loudly stupid to ask other people to make that happen. Having a measure of autonomy and the ability to live according to tradition should be enough on its own.

All that said, I'd have to research the situation to say anything definitive. They may be being neglected in some genuine way, rather than merely as a natural consequence of their own decision, and if that's the case they probably have the right to be whiney.
