dunno how true this is, found this in one of my other forums, but hey worth a vote anyway don't ya think? since england gets the least amount of bank hols, and not even their saints day amongst them.

Labour Day
Queen's Birthday Holiday
Australia Day
Anzac Day
Malbourne Cup Day (if you are in Victoria, im sure other states have some equilivent)

yeah we get more holidays than the english do...england are the only ones in the uk, not to get their saints day as a holiday we (the irish) do, the scots do as well as the welsh, it unfair i think.

No, we just steal all yours and impose them upon ourselves and celebrate.
On another note, I've not actually met anyone who doesn't just skip work on our so called saint's day - Mr. Brown is just thinking about the future and what the kids'll think of him - i.e. here's another holiday to get you all through the horrors of school. |

in queensland we dont get a holiday for melbourne cup day but i think they are thinking about making it 1

Yeah, it's mad in Ireland around halloween. I used to go there, (more notably Clare, and the village used for a few episodes in Father Ted), with my family around the october half-term holidays; you'd think it was a black and orange christmas it's that over run with decorations.
