She was just born 2 hours ago. It was a brutal event this time that started yesterday. No sleep for anyone. Lots of things seemed like they were going wrong but Mrs Soulinsane came through like a champion. Long story actually, but in the end we avoided a emergency C-section and they are both alive. I'm going to slip into a coma for a few hours after I've notifed and sent pics to everyone.

You ever seen what happens to the head of a baby when it comes out? The baby only has floating bone plates on the brain for a skull so that the head can change shape to get through the canal easier. It gets rigid once the bones fuse together later in life.

Yeah, it's pretty wild. When my eldest was little we had to take him periodically to get his head measured and checked. He used to get "Good Boy" stickers when we'd go because he never fussed. I'm wondering if it was sort of misshapen from forceps. I think they'd used those. But to this day when he gets his glasses he has to tell them that one ear is farther forward than the other so they rebend them slightly or they won't fit.

Aww, its not so bad dude. Post some pics. That child will be you immortality. I think you will fall in love with it fast. Just be there at least. See the baby shortly after its born if she doesn't want you in there during birth. I seen a few poor dudes that got locked out during delivery Try not to take it personal if she has that done but the baby does love you. You are its only dad in the whole world so don't wait to get to know him/her.

Also, the babies head isn't that soft but it isn't really an easy space that it has to fit through. The head looks normal again after the first day but thank God for baby hats. We all went through it. It's not a new thing really.

I wish they made Slayer, Megadeth, Danzig, or any band baby sock hats. I would have had one on her

I posted this story on another forum that explained details of this delivery. I didn't have the energy to post it until days after the event though. Enjoy.

"It was a bloody fucking mess actually. I thought Mrs Soulinsane was going to die. She has been diabetic from age 3, is really small to begin with, and developed really high blood pressure during the pregnacy; 220+/120+. She pushed all she could for as long as she could. She was exhausted, spirit broken, and had started to bleed badly. The babies heart dropped to 50 BPM as was stuck in the birth canal. The doctors wanted to just get the baby out because it was having the better chance of living. They were in the process getting ready to take her to an emergency C-section.

I used to be a EMT and I have seen live death before but this really scared me. In fact it horrified me. This was the hardest labor I've ever seen. I knew she was done and so did the doctors. Everythiong was going south fast. I wasn't sure Mrs Soulinsane had any ideal what was happening or what was about to happen but I didn't feel like scaring her if she could understand me telling her. I knew I only had about 10 seconds to talk with her because they wouldn't allow me in the room while proforming the emergency C-section. It was just a whisper but I told her I loved her and I understood she had done all she could but I, in selfish vain, asked if she could push on more time. I could see the top of Lilly's head but she was stuck. So close.

I was about to cry, but thought it might scare her. I really thought one of them were going to die and this was the last time I would see them both alive at once. She started to push a little but the doctors told her to just rest, but she just started to push anyway and the baby started to come out more Everyone jumped back in place and cheered her on. She was doing it!

It could have been maybe 2 minutes ( not sure ) later but it felt longer and the baby was out. Lots of things took place after that but my attention was divided. I was looking at monitors, what people were doing, and taking in information about Lilly and Mrs Soulinsane. I soon realized she had done it and they were both recovering fast. I was amazed more then anything.

30 minutes later they were both as normal as could be. I just couldn't believe it. Most of the people there had never seen it come to that point and do a complete reverse.

But thats why I married her. She is my hero in many ways and today she proved why she owns my ass once again"

I was 17 and broke to once, but the good news is that will change one day. Even if the girl doesn't want to be with you she is going to have to accept that you are going to be apart of her life for now on. You don't have to like each other but try to work together for the kid. Your pretty much a grown man at 17 imo. You may not be able to do as much as you might like for the kid ( I think everyone feels this way at first ), but you can only do what you can do.

You might want to talk to someone that can help you more then us. Also get her to talk to someone too. Don't let her hide it to long. We all need help when it come to this situation.

I just caught up with this thread and your story made me cry. God bless your family. I had thoughts of the cord wrapped around where it shouldn't be when she pushed and everything. I think that was good for folks to read about how traumatic childbirth can be. But now the fun starts as you well know.

YGID-- Whatever you can do to be a part of the child's life, do it. If there's any way you can get a paternity test if you haven't done so, do it. My son did that even though the child was 2 before it was done to verify it was his. He said he knew, but I'm glad he did. The state of California ordered him to pay child support among other things, even though the mother wanted nothing from him. There was no choice so make sure you're contributing to a child that's actually yours.
We still have yet to meet him although he's in elementary school now and it's just been recently that my son has talked to him over the phone. He's gone through many rough bumps, but we've supported his decisions and tried to help however we could.
The main thing to do is what you feel is the right thing. Talk to people that can give you good advice. It might be family or it might be someone else. It's not an uncommon thing and you can over come the hurdles. Plus, like Bia said, you're a good guy.
