Is it just me or does ''snakes on a plane'' look like the most retarded ignorant movie ever made?
comeon...a movie about snakes, that get on a plane, they get pissed, than they bite people, than samuel l. jackson takes out a gun and shoots it, than he lands the plane.
This really sums up about how retarded america really is now.

My mom was running around the house shouting that the other day. Apparently they went into post production simply to add that line. I have a feeling that this movie is meant to be corny. It has to be..

Snakes on a Plane is an example of a well-executed marketing scheme that will likely take $8 a piece from any number of idiots. They make the fact that it's dumb on purpose transparent, without making it a real spoof, so that everyone feels like they're in on this joke and feels good for so being. It's almost like a cult hit without the waiting period. Admirable in its own way.
Just saw, among other things, 13 Tzameti. In between a lot of pointless French shadowboxing is one of the most intense sequences I've ever seen. Since it's being immediately remade by the same director, hopefully he'll figure out the fact that the middle section is only hurt by the empty style of the first and third acts.
And, finally:
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
/half-assed, centerless, incoherent string of jokes that nobody will find funny in a decade
There's nothing sadder about comedy than the fact that this shit passes muster for so many people.

Yep, what a bunch of scheming cunts.
"I want these motherfucking snakes off this motherfucking plane!"
I've downloaded two movies, "Legit" and an Indian film called "Land of the Little People." I will watch at least one of those today.

I saw Snakes on a Plane the other night. You haters can bash it, but it was much better than I expected (Which wasn't much). In all honesty, it was an hour and a half of pure glory. It's amazing how many different... realistic... ways you can die with a couple hundred snakes trying to bite you. So go see the movie now.
Im serious, go now. Do it. I'm framing my ticket.. Samuel L Jackson is my new hero.
I can die happy after seeing that film....
I am also making my own movie called Raptors on an Oil Refinery

I saw Freddy Got Fingered in theatres...my friends had got us in, and then left during the previews.
I watched "Transamerica" this afternoon...it was really good. 8.5/10

One of my favourite comedies was Undercover Brother.

C'est arrivé près de chez vous (Man Bites Dog in the 'US and A') is quite an incredible movie.
As for comedy: I've seen a sample of a movie once, where a man tried to hang himself with his belt, and from the moment he hangs there, his pants drop.
More of this was to be seen to, but I can't remember the damn title. Anyone seen it?

I got the Silent Hill DVD on the 22nd. I don't care what some people have to say about it, I think it's a well done mind numbingly disturbing horror film.
The only bad thing I have to say about it is that the acting feels a little weird at times. And also About an hour into the film Rose says "They say this place is haunted... I think they were right" Yeah.... we know.....
But besides that the music (taken directly from the game soundtrack (which I have)) is freakin' awesome. I love the music. And also the visuals and creatures are Extremely well done to make them all extra disturbing. The DVD has a really cool "Making Of" feature that covers how they made the whole thing: Origins, Set Design, Casting, Stars and Stunts, "Creatures Unleashed", and Creature Choreography.
Basically, little girls scare me.

Yeah, I can't really think of a more gory/disturbing movie at the moment. I mean, I'd say even Pulp Fiction doesn't beat Silent Hill in terms of gory visuals (In terms of just plain disturbing I'll hand it to Tarantino). I haven't seen Kill Bill though. But Silent Hill definitely is the best game-based film. I've seen it twice since I bought it on the 22nd. And I also saw it in theaters.
The only other thing worth getting that I can think of is Leon: The Professional. If you don't have it then pick it up! Now! Goddamnit. Great acting, STILL doesn't look outdated, and the Soundtrack (which I have) is great too. I praise thee, Eric Serra. He does tghe music for a lot of Luc Besson's films (Leon, La Femme Nikita, Fifth Element, etc...)

goryest movie?
cannibal holocaust. im not into gore movies, someone kicked down a copy<later killed himself, which made it wierd>
banned everywhere and the director was hauled into court<in italy>where he had to prove the actors in the film were still alive. this movie will make you no longer into gore if you ever were.
cannibal holocaust was the main inspiration behind the blair witch project

Just watched The Storm Riders. It's a martial arts movie made in hong kong with lots of special effects, and wire acts.
Basically an emperor has a monk predict part of ist future. Which happens to be that for the first half of his life he will be invincible, but only if he finds two children that are intertwined with his destiny. He kills off their parents, and raises them up. Needless to say they beat the shit out of him later on.
My only complaint is that they have a few really lame parts scattered here and there.

Man Bites Dog is fucking great. It makes you feel like shit.
Cannibal Holocaust is legendary. But it's only banned in about eight countries. If you think Pulp Fiction is unusually disturbing you shouldn't check it out.

Hell yes. The violence is present in quite huge amounts, and still it doesn't come over in a gratuit way, and some scenes are just màsterpieces (the welcome-home dinner...)
Oh, more comedy? Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles!

I've watched it a few years ago. PETA should watch the turtle scene.

For me, Man Bites Dog is all about the way it gets you into it and totally on Ben's side, just like it was any other dark comedy. And then, suddenly, there's this one scene (I won't mention it for people who haven't seen it, but almost anybody who has will know which scene I mean), and it changes everything, and suddenly you realize what an asshole you've been just for going along with it. Genius.
But it's got a lot of great bits. Really a classic.
PETA did watch the turtle scene. Those actually aren't Amazonian tribes or filmmakers in the recovered footage. It's just PETA and people who pissed them off.

Saw Factotum and Beerfest in the last few days. The former does as good a job as should be done of putting Bukowski into a film, and the latter both captures the fun of drinking games perfectly and also satirizes every sport movie to the saturation point. In other words, my weekend was good in movies.

I'm planning on seeing Beerfest tomorrow, for free. I work at Mann theaters, and Sun-Thurs I can get myself and two others in free.

I've watched some films the past couple of days..I will give my ratings.
The Dark Crystal(on infinity's suggestion at the start of the thread) - 7.5/10
Slither - 8.5/10
Stay Alive - 7/10(It was terrible..but I liked something about it)
Dead Man's Shoes - 8.5/10
The Sentinel - 7/10
I would of watched more, but I've watched the full season 2 of Deadwood within three days. I really need a job.
Thank you illegal piracy!

Everyone stop what you are doing and buy Vampire Assassin. Now.
Worst
Movie
Ever.
....Ever.
I was literally rolling on the floor laughing at how bad it was.
Remember Bloodrayne? yeah it's like 5 times worse, no joke. and yes that's possible.
I say buy it because it's so bad that you'll actually want to watch it again. And if you dont, poor you.

Oh yeah, probably the best war movie IMO. The colonel who is oblivious to teh danger is my favorite charecter. Another great war movie is Platoon. the theme song in that one is.......

I just saw METAL: A Headbanger's Journey. I thought it was really good. Finally a metal documentary that doesn't focus completely on Hair metal and Metallica. This may have been mentioned a while back but this thing has more pages than I am willing to search through. Anyway, it does a good job of explaining metal to people who either don't know about it, or believe all the stereotypes, but its also cool to see all the interviews from bands that you are fans of.

That did rule. I missed it in theatres, but the DVD features are definitely worth watching as well.(and the basically seperate movie on Norweigian BM)
I guess the guy that did it is in a really good DM band as a bassist(singer as well? I don't know..)...godamn, I forget the name of his band. It's probably not that hard to find.

Aliens
i came to realization that before cgi effects, monster movies prior had a much more effective time building suspense working around the fact that the baddies were obvious costumes and couldnt show full shots of them. as with jaws, what seems like a severe handicap, is actually superior on all counts.
what makes aliens superior to alien 4 was that you still didnt really know what the alien looked like<after watching 2 alien movies>. this reflects awesomely in the characters perception since they are stealthy, creepy motherfuckers anyway. i was literally cringing when the marines got ambushed when they first entered the colony, the whole colony part was fucking skin crawlingly good. no cgi sequence could ever do this. no big topographical money shot of a bunch of dudes in a bluescreen shooting and reacting to thin air can reproduce can come close.
aliens 4 demonstrated that actually revealing them in action sequences just turned them into a curiousity. i liked that movie but it wasnt what the series was about. it was almost like "hipster" tarantino/guy ritchie esqe, noone is vulnerable, everyone is a happy-go-lucky,ready to die while saying hip one liners. ripley was like john rambo. its stoic badass vs badass monster.
the only really clear fight<aliens> was the queen sequence. to me, that was actually the weakest part because they did the whole "shoot the thing out of the airlock routine". its saving grace was that it didnt last long and it was totally one sided, like "lets get this done with, roll the fucking credits already" the part was unecessary, but nontheless it was cool.

Yeah, that was pretty cool but I am looking for someone who has seen the whole thing. See, i made a deal with my mom. I told her that I would read one of her favorite books if she would watch it with me so i could show her what metal is really like. She is a pretty typical mom as far as gore, satanist stuff is (she isnt easily offended unless its something overtly....gorey(death metal) or satanic (black metal). So do you think the documentary will change her preconceptions of metal for better or worse?

fucking me either ... I'm such a fanboy I have a shirt
Well, I watched The Hills Have Eyes, and it was decent, but quite shit, and very fucked up at times. And I mean very. I was in fact, shocked, by the notions being expressed... I find it really easy to connect to movies, which is why I have emotional reactions and which is why I don't watch them often
Decent anyway.

I have that on DVD, I was pretty disappointed with it, I thought it was going to be a gore fest.
The best films I've seen recently are
Re-animator
Braindead (aka Dead Alive in the US)

i saw Hostel the other day. well, half of it. my friends skipped the first half and said it was boring, and not really the point of the movie. hmm, it was OK, but not anything special. id rather just watch the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, again.

I hope you are talking about the original TCM and not that remake bullshit.
Anyway movies I have recently got:
Guinea Pig: Mermaid in the Manhole (Fuck yeah! I finnally got the whole Guinea Pig series. Flowers Of Flesh And Blood and The Devil's Experiment are still my favourite. Man I love this snuff...er stuff. I said stuff!)
Humongous (Finnally I got this. It's a bootleg but it's a pretty damn good bootleg. Special features, interactive menus, sooped up quality.)
Cannibal Holocaust special edtion
Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers
Godzilla vs. Hedorah (aka Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster)
Well now I am going to watch some movies.
Oh BTW. Has anyone seen/ heard of August Underground. I love that movie. It's so fucking sick and twisted but well done.

haha, yeah, i know. but they told me that the first half is pretty much pointless to the story, and we dont like spending our time watching movies really. to be honest, id rather look up real porn then see just plain tits on a major film.

But, if you like most movies you've seen, it's funny to consider seeing them a waste of time.

Get more taste and you'll go more often.
And, if you're too young to go to Jackass movies, you're too young to know why you're a semen-sucking douchebag.

My dad asked if I wanted to go to a movie tonight. I replied, "I would like to see Jackass 2, but there is no way you're going to see that. It is too much for you."
..I should of went.

HAHA Relax I was just fucking around. I didn't like the remake personally but as long as you like the original as well that's cool. Sorry. I just hear so many people thinking the remake was original footage and blah blah blah. And how Thomas Hewit is still loose. It's like come on at least watch the original or research this shit.

heh, i didnt mean to seem worked up or anything. Its just that sometimes people will get on my case for liking a movie they dont, you know. And i wasnt lying, i like almost every movie ive seen, which is probably a couple hundred. i dont know if that would be considered a lot. but i know i dont watch whole movies often.
and wait, i thought the black and white clip at the very end of the remake was actual footage... and the only known footage. if it isnt, then they had me fooled.

Anyone seen Donnie Darko? I watched the DVD a few days ago, and it was interesting.. but stupid how you had to look up information in places other than the movie to figure out what was going on... extras, website etc.
The movie is basically about this (literally) insane kid, and time travel, except it doesn't come across as straight science fiction. Kinda trippy, and almost impossible to understand. Independent film I guess. Maybe some of you guys have seen it and know what im talking about. Overall I thought that it was a lot better than most of the stuff coming from hollywood these days... check it out if you haven't already :P

Independent film I guess. Maybe some of you guys have seen it and know what im talking about. Overall I thought that it was a lot better than most of the stuff coming from hollywood these days... check it out if you haven't already :P

heh i never looked anything up but i understood what was happening. but i agree it is pretty weird.

It still really made no sense to me after the explanation from mrs. malicious. And if I don't understand it, it doesn't exist. So you guys were just talking abouit nothing.

Cmon, it's so simple, how can it not make sense to you? Donnie is the reciever, and the plane engine is the artifact, and frank is a manipulated dead, and so is that one girl, and everyone else is a manipulated living, and then Donnie has to close up the alternate world or the real world explodes and where the heck does the engine come from again? and and
No, actually, it doesn't make any sense at all. Still, go watch it.

It's a love story. And he replaces his love for the girl.

Well, I just watched Road House (with Swazey in it). . . Dumb.
Shittest ending ever, no plot whatsoever.
I aslo watched Pollyanna...
GAY.
I need to be confused with a movie, I haven't been in a long time... the last time I was genuinely confused with a movie was with Minority Report although I was younger and didn't know what I was watching.

I attempted watching Donnie Darko once. After cleaning up the blood I'd vomitted halfway through from confusion/boredom, I took it back to the shop and exchanged it for something closer to my intellect. Best damn Disney film Ive ever seen.

It will happen, but I'm not doing it. It comes out October 8th.
Edit - I'm about to watch a full DVDrip(4.6gb) of Crank. God Bless the internet.

Saw The Science of Sleep yesterday. I'm becoming more and more impressed with Michel Gondry; only Tarkovsky comes to mind as being better at capturing the way dreams and memories feel.
Also good by Gondry, and featuring everybody's favorite David Cross (the one from Mr. Show, not the author), is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrZU-hZVfBM

Not a bad film I thought, funny at times too and there's some interesting editing thrown in as well. Anyone else seen it?

Yeah I saw that. Non-Stop action, literally. Great fast paced film, it's worth seeing.
What I just saw less than ten minutes ago was American Grafitti. Damn. Amazing film. Anybody else seen it? I thought it was moving slow at first, but then I realized that for some reason I was expecting a full throttle comedy. It turned out to be really fun but it had a lot of drama in it too. For it's time and even today I agree with all the great reviews of it.
Note: I really like DOnnie Darko too... cause I actually understood it and watched it all the way through... But everyone just go watch American Grafitti, because that's what I'm talking about, not Donnie Darko.

I'd recommend going, Tranny. Seeing a smart movie is a good, rare experience. It makes you grow like properly used steroids.
American Graffiti is all right, but not really much more.
Donnie Darko is nowhere near the best film of all time. That's like saying that 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is the best piece of music of all time.

Just got the DVD of They Call Her One Eye. However my DVD is the uncut version called Thriller: A Cruel Picture. Picture a 70's exploitation flick in the vein of Kill Bill (Kill Bill was bassically a remake of this) with some hardcore porn and tons of gore. The plot is bassically a mute girl gets picked up by a pimp and she ends up becoming a hooker and a drug addict. And the pimp gets pissed at her one day a cuts out her eye (They actually used a real corpse for this scene!) So then she saves up the money and takes driving, fighting and shooting lessons. Then she gets revenge. Really cool flick.
I also got The Road Warrior.

Has anybody seen Scorcese's new film, Departed? I read a review of it today which was very positive.
