'The Last King of Scotland' was great, though it could be that I wasn't expecting much.

'Smokin' Aces' blows. WAY too many characters and a plot that goes seemingly nowhere.Very dissapointed in it.

I just downloaded Pan's Labyrinth, which I am about to watch. I wasn't even aware that this is a Spanish film.

I'm downloading Half Nelson right now. Has anyone seen it?

I loved "The Sacketts." He plays such a great cowboy type and I'm a fan of westerns.

Some of Nick Cage's best work.

And this guy is putting up Begotten.

The more I sit with it, the worse Pan's Labyrinth seems. The fantasy parts are cool, but since there's no ambiguity about them (I would have liked to see some hints that the fairy tale 'wrote' the entire fascist situation, but it's clearly just the little girl imagining things) and the root is a story as simplistically binary as any fascist worldview could hope to be, it strikes me as being a loss.

How did Francis Ford Coppola's nephew get a job as an actor? Are you sure you don't know the answer to this question?

And I love Mexicans. They cook most of the food I eat.

On the sidebar of that thing they have a link to 'Wicker Man: Comedy of the Year.' Follow it for an extended version of the other. It seems to be the movie in 6 minutes; you can follow the plot and everything.

Watched 'Snatch' again yesterday with some friends, it's a fucking classic. We have guys that speak 'pikey' here in Holland, only the Dutch variant.

But it by no means is remotely a contestant for "Best movie ever."

Yeah me too, particularly Spanish.

Blood Diamond was better than I had expected. It could have done without the cheesy love story but the acting from Leo and Djimon was pretty solid.

Well, no it's not. but it's a good movie with some really cool plots, like the part when they run over boris the blade, hilarious and what a way to tie all ends together.

in the same category; lock, stock & two smoking barrels. another cool movie, I kinda dig those kinda movies.

braveheart.

i think president bush hired someone in the cast to write his speeches

one thing i liked about it was how everyone looked like a homeless squatter type, they did a bang up job with the filthy mullets, bad hygeine, raggidy ass clothes and shit.

alot of movies that are historically set seem to go for the bigger than life depiction of midevil or ancient cultures. i think they really wanted to show what it looked like.

filthy, crusty, crunk motherfuckers. the UK would just be another motorcycle gang chapter<the whole country> if those scottish dude won.

the mullet would be the imperial haircut of the redneck empire that would later emerge when industrialization hit in england.

My former boss at lowes was way more into collecting star wars stuff than you'll probably ever be. The only thing that he is not, is a fag about the whole thing haha. No offense, but he most definately doesn't quote or revolve this life around it.

I was looking through quotes that Kreia said in KOTOR II and I honestly like this quote the best. It has some truth to it, and it just sticks out.

And my life doesn't revolve around it.... moreso, it's in the same orbit as mine.

I've always said that Saw was a piece of shit.

And thanks for the correction. He'd probably be better off picking up his profundities from programmers rather than low level hack writers.

i thought saw was good. nothing spectacular or groundbreaking by any means, but not shit. i haven't seen saw 3 i don't think..but i didn't think 2 was as good as the first, so i wasn't expecting 3 to be any better. the main thing about 1 that pissed me off was that the guy was laying there the whole time and had to have been breathing...yet they didn't notice. i know if i was handcuffed in a room like that with a body laying in a pile of blood on the floor..i would've been staring at the body all fucking day. also..maybe i'm wrong..but were there scenes where he was supposed to still be laying there, yet was elsewhere speaking to other victims or police through a 2 way radios? haven't seen it in a while.

just watched the trailer park boys movie the other day though. that shit was awesome! started off a little slow, but quickly picked up and easily met my expectations. my roommate pre ordered it..so i'm looking forward to watching the extras..and also watching the movie again without french words popping up on the screen every few minutes (it was a screener.)

I watched "The Last King of Scotland" last night. It was very well done, loosely based on the book I've read..everything does seem to fall neatly into place, but it was very exciting none the less.

Forest Whittaker definitely deserves Best Actor for this.

Last night I watched Roberto Benigni's 'Life is Beautiful', not one for rom coms but I found this a most charming film without getting too twee, very well made and the concentration camp didn't appear as early as I thought it would. I felt a touch of the Charlie Chaplin in Roberto's character of Guido.

Cause he recruited that other guy (Flick maybe?) into his nightmare... the one that was holding the woman & child hostage.
The not breathing thing was crappily explained with that injection thing. What pisses me off more was that he woke at the exactly the right moment.

Bout to watch Dudeson's Movie: Can't fucking wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great movie.

Watched The Prestige yesterday. Really refreshing to see a movie that great when there's a lot of crap in the cinema. Really well done, so well done in fact, that I'm going to watch it again to see exactly how it was pieced together in such a convincing manner.

About to see if The Departed lives up to it's endless praise.

ahh thats right...my memory of it is a bit hazy..saw it in the theaters however many years ago it came out and haven't seen it since. another thing..wasn't he laying in a pool of blood that was HIGHLY toxic? so toxic that just dipping the tip of a cigarette into it would kill that guy if he smoked it...how about laying in a pool of the stuff all day? our skin is pretty porous...oh well its a movie heh.

i guess i might go see that newest addition to the silence of the lambs series of movies..don't know what its called, but i guess its supposed to be the earlier days of hannibal lector's life. i've heard it was good..but then again, we pretty much hear people say both movies suck and they are good for just about every release.

Watched "Gappa, the Triphibian Monster" a Japanese B-monster movie from the 60's!!
Yep it's men dressed in rubber monster costumes treading on toy tanks and knocking over cardboard buildings! Pure class, loved every reptilian cheese filled second of it!

Just finished watching The Departed. A pretty good movie, but I don't think it's actually worthy of all the praise it's given, and Scorsese definitely shouldn't get any awards for it. It, and the movie it copied the idea from, Infernal Affairs, are on about the same level - with no movie being superior to the other.

Yes, I own the novel, "Wiseguy", which is a fantastic read. A couple of things changed from the crossover obviously, but most of it is pretty spot on.

Layer Cake was pretty disappointing and paint-by-numbers, though it had a nice bit at the end.

There are records indicating that Mozart had a high, annoying laugh, though obviously there's no way of knowing whether it was like the movie laugh.

I found the very end scene very 'Carlito's Way'. Guy about to retire gets a fatal bullet from who you least suspect.

Watching "Léon: The Professional" in Neurobiology tomorrow... for no reason. That's what small private hippie school classes are able to do to their teachers.

Funniest GODDAMN thing I've ever seen. I was laughing my ass off the whole way through. That last bit was the funniest/scariest prank ever. I haven't seen JA #1, and I really need to.

Yes you do. Also The Dudesons Movie (better than the Jackass guys imo... has appearances from them though.), and the CKY series (if you have not seen already). The CKY films I will love forever. Watching them as I was younger, they shaped me as a person, quite literally. So fucking cool are the stunts they do, and the soundtrack. Better than anything Jackass imo. Same guys, funnier, ruder pranks (when they were younger and unknown). I reccomend if you haven't seen already!

Also, the fucking DIRTY SANCHEZ movie. Oh my fucking God. The worst thing I have ever fucking witnessed. Fucked up beyond belief. Banned here in Australia I think (no doubt many countries). Download it!

Teaser: Fat guy gets liposuction (graphic). After, during a game, an asain ladyboy randomly picks one of them (by sucking their dick under a table) to drink it. He does, to the best of his ability, and well, it has scarred me.

The last King of Scotland

Gréat film, not so much because of the 'main role' (a Scottish doctor Carrigan), but because of the actor who plays Idi Amin Dada. The moodswings, from a loveable and quite funny character to imposing anger-attacks (the scene in/in front of the hangar!)... It's all done terrific.

And because it isn't a comedy/horror-film, the room isn't filled with loud morons. Check it out.

Just watched Dune. It is one of the most amazing films ever created.

Edit: Reading reviews of the film, apparently many people think the story is too hard to understand, and that a reading of the book is required before viewing. Nonsense if you ask me. I had no knowledge of the Dune universe and hadn't read the book beforehand, and I could follow along and make sense of everything perfectly.

Yes, I have watched it fairly recently. The story is a little strange and even uncomfortable at times, but it is largely well done and worth watching.

Great film, I saw it with my english class. Yeah, his performance was quite simply frightening and disturbing.

Love that movie, I have the directors cut. The "making of" is long and really fun to watch, as well as the other special features.

And my neuro class ended up watching Inside Man because the professional had no sound goddamnit, but that was a pretty awesome movie as well. Nothing beats The Professional though.

And Problem... those movies sound like I'll never be able to look at anything in life without thinking about any of those movies and be horribly scarred......... I'll definitely look into seeing them all

The Departed was incredible. It really had me on the edge.

I want to see Last King of Scotland badly. Idi Amin has fascinated me since I read about him in grade school.

Donnie Darko's director's cut does what so many director's commentaries do: makes you realize how dumb the people whose art you let in your life are. It's a shame to find out that he really loved the heavyhanded, didactic symbolism, and didn't intend the artful ambiguity that, along with a hefty dose of immaturity, made all the crap he forced in there palatable, and it's always a shame to see a case where studio intervention really made a much better movie than the director intended. Apparently Kelly has a still more ponderous, shallow-insights-masked-as-profundities movie coming out soon.

For my sins I watched Frailty. It was a bit like a the 'Wonder Years' meets 'Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer' in a lame, made for TV kinda way. The plot twist couldn't have been more obvious if it had phoned me a week before to announce it's arrival!

Also watched Korean war film 'Brotherhood'. It was most excellent, even the poorly CGI'd Corsairs and the wobbly rubber bayonets couldn't detract from it's enjoyable quality.

Also saw Master and Commander, which was ok. It was good to see Russell Crowe attacking a worthy target(the French) rather than a defenceless memeber of hotel staff!

Has anyone seen 300 yet? Our theater didn't get the movie, so now I'm forced to bootleg it or travel over 60 miles just to see it.

i watched Braveheart last night for the first time in years. Mel Gibson used to pwn.

He still does. Wait, "pwn"?

Anyway, two posts up is a review saying that 300 is better than Sargent York.

Mad Max is definitely killer. But Braveheart, The Road Warrior, Payback, The Passion of the Christ etc... a bunch of examples that his movies are very viable and there are plenty of others.
