Not sure if you guys have ever seen the Piracy Commercials.
You wouldn't steal a car.
You wouldn't steal a handbag.
You wouldn't steal a mobile phone.
You wouldn't look up guitar tabs for songs on the net.
Playing other peoples songs on your guitar is stealing.
Stealing is against the law.
Sharing Tabs. It's a crime.

i dont think they're trying to shut down tab sites because "Playing other peoples songs on your guitar is stealing."
the people trying to shut down tab sites are the people that publish tab books and such, they're pissed because no one buys tab books since tab sites started

well they can go fuck themselves, because tabs on tab sites are an individual interpretation of a song etc.

Sounds too humorous to be true. I am not sure if it's real, but I wouldn't be suprised if it was true.

This is false, but what it is coming too, I have seen the ad, it says you wouldn't steal a movie or some shit, but yeah, if MPA wins, this is what will happen.

Quit wasting megabytes complaining. Either they lose in court and all is well. Or they win, and they will still lose, in a way.

I've seen the commercials at the beginning of movies. They are about downloading movies and songs though, I think.

For starters, they could stop making the tab books more expensive than the cds...
Then they should make more tabbooks, it's not like the bands I play actualy have one..
Aaaand.. they should actualty sell them somewere

I wonder when they realise that musicians whose songs are played by many, don't really give a shit about this. And if they do, they'd have done this shit many years ago.

The musicians arent the ones suffering.
Like I mentioned above....
CEOs that used to make 475 million a year are now making 450 million and THAT WONT STAND to a person addicted to greed.
So instead of taking a paycut....they layoff....outsource jobs and lower wages below their level.
The record execs suffer from this syndrome greatly.
heh

this parody was too close to the real deal to be seen as a parody. i ,too, after reading it wondered if it was legitimate or not. the point of satire is to be just one step too ludicrous

A lot of bands need agents and others to help them with the business aspect of their productions and they deserve to be paid for their efforts. I don't disagree with that at all. I have a friend who's travelling and performing and he has others to free up his time for him to do the actual music aspects.
Greed might have a portion to do with it, but costs of living and demand also drive prices up. That commercial seems as biased as THE TRUTH commercials, but some idiots will actually think it's gospel. Especially the ones that don't know what we do about sites like this.

If you want a blast from the past circa '70's I just pulled out a few album music books I own to see what they cost when I was as old as most of you. Mind you, tabs were not popular back then. The only place I encountered them was in a group of about 30 of us at church that had a guitar choir. Books were mostly piano/guitar/voice.
Gregg Allman: Laid Back, Supertramp: Crime of the Century, Seals and Crofts: Diamond Girl --$5.95
Jesus Christ Superstar and Chicago Gold were $2.60
Individual sheet music was about $1.25 average. I've got lots of that.
45 rpm's were about 70 cents and albums were about $6 or $7.
I bought with gift or babysitting money then and when I started working I made about $1.20/hour slightly below what minimum wage was then due to the size of the business so you can see to compare the price and wage thing a little compared to now.

Yeah if they did care they would've done something already but they don't so why should people who don't even have anything to do with it? I guess it is to do with the money.

If you want to correct people's quotes, do it right you moron. It would be "written". And give the guy a break, English isn't his native language. I would like to see you write some Finnish.
