1. Cephalic Carnage - "Anthro Emesis" (1:16-1:42)
2. TheBLED - "Nothing we say leaves this room" (1:25-most of the rest of the song, not that any of you know this one)
3. The Black Dahlia Murder - "Miasma" (1:42-1:55)
4. NILE - "Unas Slayer of the Gods" The main chorus riff. you know the one.
5. Quo Vadis - "On the Shores of Ithaka" (0:33-main riff in song) That is the riff that made me the death metal freak I became shortly after hearing them in 03.
By no means are they the best, but hey, most of these are my favorites of all time.

How can anyone do this!!! 5 favourite riffs ever???
Um...
well off the top of my head here are some. Probably missing out on some stupidly obvious ones.
Grave - 'Rise' : 2:24 (the breakdown...)
Monstrosity - 'An Angels Venom' : the whole song... but particularly the half time part of the main riff/theme
Nile - 'Ruins' : most of the whole thing
Bolt Thrower - 'World Eater' : 0:16
Cryptopsy - 'Phobophile' : the first riff (after the piano/feedback intro)
crap, I forgot Suffocation - Peirced from Within, the stupidly slow heavy riff. You know it. Ok so thats 6. Tough.

Necrophagist-"Ignominious and Pale" the break right after the solo
Nile-Kheftiu-"Asar Butchiu" once again after the solo

Im limiting myself to like, one per band else Gorguts would take em all B)
Gorguts - Inverted (first riff... damn.)
Necrophagist - Culinary Hyperversity - 2:23, mainly for that fucked up delay part that comes in on the end.... weird. But the main sweep riff in this is ace too.
CC - The Spinesplitter (the tapping part, not overly hard or anything but builds a nice atmosphere...)
Nile - Outro lead to Sarcophagus
Dying Fetus - Killing On Adrenaline sweeps. Totally unexpected B)
So some of these are borderline sections, but yeah...

Right on! Culinary is one of my faves to. Also...
Psycroptic - The Colour of Sleep - especially the riffs from 3:02 - 4:29
Damaged - Nails
Morbid Angel - Dawn of the Angry - that riff at 1:15(still haven't seen a tab for that riff anywhere)
At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul
I can't say these are my fave riffs of all time(that's just too hard to pick), but these are definetly some of my personal faves.

Metallica - To Live is to die, the riff starting at 4:30 mins into the song, harmonizing at its best. the acoustic riffs are also great

Avenged Sevenfold - Unholy confessions, intro riff, i know the band isn't exactly metal but that riff is awesome\m/
Children of bodom - shitload of awesome riffs, lake bodom, towards dead end, bodom after midnight etc.....
In Flames - Moonshield, intro
King diamond - the family ghost - the whole song's loaded with ass kicking riffs, my favorites being the intro and the one starting at about 2:54 into the song

CATTLE DECAPITATION - Testicular Manslaughter (the whole damn thing!! especially 1:05 - 1:43) Cattle Decapitation Rules and they have too many cool riffs for me to keep it to a select few.
Decrepit Birth - Concepting the Era (1:27 - 1:46)
Decrepit Birth - ...And Time Begins (1:01 - 1:33)
Unmerciful - Masochistic Rampage (1:01 - 1:24) For those of you who haven't heard these guys before and you like Origin, check em out!
Spawn of Possession - Hidden in the Flesh (2:19 - 2:36)
ORIGIN - Debased Humanity (1:52 - end of song)
ORIGIN - Reciprocal (1:35 - end of song) Pretty Much all of Origin as well.
Necrophagist - The Stillborn One (1:56 - 2:20) Most of Necrophagist stuff too.
DYING FETUS - Onslaught of Malice (4:06 - end of song) pretty much all songs by Dying Fetus, too many cool riffs to limit it.
Domination Through Impurity - Pinned to a Guardrail (0:35 - 2:16)
Domination Through Impurity - Wahnsinn (3:24 - 4:42) that includes the solo/rhythm part which is bad ass.
Lust of Decay - Festering Anal Vomit (0:58 - 1:28) That drum roll from 1:26 - 1:28 is awesome!!!!
Like some of you others have stated, there are too many awesome riffs to limit our favorites to just 5. These are some of my favorites.

Slayer - Angel of Death - bridge riff (first two, before solo)
PanterA - Slaughtered - bridge riff
Nile - Burning in the Pits of the Duat - pre-chorus riff
Goatwhore - The Beauty in Suffering - second riff (at the break, when the drums drop out)
Scrotesque - Misongynist Pineapple Insertion - second-to-last riff (mucho pinky work)
I'm also really fond of a riff that I wrote a few days ago and still have to perfect, but I'm not sure if that counts.

(here's five random riffs from the top of my head that I seem to enjoy playing or hearing)
Mortician - Necrocannibal. Breakdown part. I think anyone who's heard this song knows the riff I'm thinking of. Out of all the riffs they've done, it's one of the few that actually stick out and, in a completely heavy way, sounds catchy.
Slayer - Bloodline. Chorus. Come on, who doesn't like this riff? It may be far from classic Slayer, but it's dark and sticks in your head.
Slayer - South Of Heaven. Intro. These guys are kings when it comes to sounding wicked, which is very apparent with this riff.
Metallica - Shortest Straw. Chorus. The AJFA album is terribly underrated. Here's a pretty heavy and memorable song from it.
Pig Destroyer - Mapplethorpe Grey. Breakdown. I forget when exactly the riff I'm thinking of comes into the song, but basically the whole thing is pretty impressive for PD. No blast beats, just some really cool riffs.

I have recently found myself liking specific riffs, which I admit is unusual for me, but hey.
Code:
Behold... The Arctopus - Exospatial Psionic Aura (1:17, Crazy Tapping)
Cynic - The Eagle Nature (0:08, Verse)
Mehuggah - Rational Gaze (2:24, Mad Rhythm)
Spiral Architect - Spinning (all!)
Alarum - Receiver (00:00, Intro), Reconditioned (all!)
Had to slip in two Alarum bits.
