My brother just got Gears of War today. The graphics are insane, but I still haven't played it. I think I'm going to right now, so I'll see how it is (I'm guessing quite amazing).

For those who haven't seen it at all, the camera is great, it's 3rd person, and when you run it shakes and really looks like a movie. Just in general it reminds a movie, actually.

Its just pointless pushing of expensive technology that people can't keep up with. Its somewhat similar to computer games from time to time. Sometimes they'll push out a game so graphically intense that even the best computer hardware avaiable can't fully run it. Such as Doom 3 when it came out. It'll be years before it'll be practical enough to switch to blue ray disc for everything, and years before a significant portion of people have hdtvs, so those functions just don't appeal to me. Neither does the ps3s extortion of a price tag, or the fact that sony is just being an asshole like xbox .. but probably more so as far as the amount they release

It probably will be awhile into next year before you'll be able to buy one in a store "safetly." Hell i just watched a video about people attempting to claim a ps3 and they started knocking people over and shit. I'm considering waiting outside best buy sunday to get a wii. According to my sisters boyfriend best buy doens't do preorders and they'll probably get a little over 100 of them.. So i'll drive 30 minutes down the road to see if i can get one.

Gears of War is FUCKING AMAZING! Best graphics I've ever seen in a game, and excellent gameplay. Just got up to Act 3, where your junker breaks down...

I'm completely and totally pissed off with sony and the ps3. The unimaginable amount of bullshit that went on because of this release (and is still going on) should in some way shape or form be fucking stopped. I've heard numerous stories, read many articles, and seen alot of videos (not just on the net, but people i know have recorded THEMSELVES) about the bullshit that has happened via this release. People have been stabbed, shot, mugged at gun point, crushed, and beaten with tire irons all over this stupid fucking system.

But anyways... about the Wii. Its completely fucking unreal. Its just totally innovative.. and just way beyond ... way WAY beyond its years as far as experience goes. If you want to be WAY WAY BEYOND in graphics way beyond possible to even fucking pratically use unless you're rich get the ps3. Hell if you are stupid enough to buy it, or wait 3 days in the rain for it so you can sell it, you probably have enough money to buy the tv neccesary to even remotely start to tap the expensive ass systems abilities.

But as far as zelda goes. I have only played about an hour of it and it has some very intresting graphics. Completely and totally different but really refreshing. they aren't like.. omg these are almost realistic graphics, but thats not what htey were going for. The gameplay is actually somewhat standard as far as the last few zelda games go. My biggest complaint (and this is barely worth taking fully in, because i haven't played enough to fully adapt to it) but the lack of full 3d screen control kind of puzzles me. Instead of using hte Wiimote to move the screen like in other games it just moves that damn pixie around. So in a way its like the one from N64 where its just the nunchuck attachment that moves the character and theres no way to move the screen around. (So you can't like.. run forward but view sideways, if you get what i mean) and in alot of 3d games this is becoming a standard neccesity and it was oneo f my biggest problems even back with the first N64 one. Because you would be running along and you couldn't fucking see something because you had to turn your character around, that got annoying.

But oh well other than that seems solid. I'll further critique it later on when i actually play play it.


Wii sports, fucking rules, period. I can definately see it being alot more fun with 2 or more people but even by yourself its pretty fun, and in some cases challenging. I didn't like the baseball too much, and i've read that it wasn't the greatest. But the golf game is good, boxing is awesome and hilarious as shit, (at least i make it that way), bowling is probably their top game, and tennis is decient but kinda hard. (which is good)

Edit: Oh and Redsteel is pretty fucking badass to say the least. It takes some serious getting used to, to using the wiimote to aim but its pretty cool.

over all the Wiimote takes getting used to, but its obvious right off the bat, how powerful this thing is.

i haven't been able to pry myself from my new toy much so far. the innovative controls for the wii fascinate me, and i was used the them almost immediately. i read that the motion sensor on the remote was too sensitive when you're trying to aim your slingshot or bow, but i think it's just right. it's probably adjustable, anyway. i just haven't bothered to find out 'cause i like it.

as for zelda......i..i'm in love. prozac, er..pr0az, since you wanted to hear about it..i'll start with the bad. the graphics aren't that much better than some of the gamecube games, i think. the water looks nice, though. haha. of course, i know it wasn't meant to be as graphically impresssive as ps3 games and stuff. the sensor displays a faerie when you're not aiming or anything, which would be okay, except it's never introduced and doesn't interact with link at all. good physics engine; i hate when the character doesn't walk slower through water, that's a pet peeve for me. but it all works out in this game. link runs funny though, like maybe he's been the bitch in the relationship too long....

as for the good, i love the controls for the sword and the slingshot and well, just the controls in general. excellent. fabulous. i love them. the storyline's good so far, as well. graphics are decent, i'm much more into the realistic graphics than the cell shaded windwaker style. the wolf aspect of the game is neat, too, but i can't decide if i like midna or not, the girl..thing that travels with him in the twilight realm. well, okay yeah i like her alright. overall, AMAZING so far, DEFINITELY worth it for me. you know where i'll be when i get home from class today. ahahaha.

To chime in on Mrs. Malicious's post, i agree basically with everything she has said. The controls feel very solid and not too bad. I wish there was a little bit more... control out of the swing, such as if you swing the wiimote left it'll attack left and so on, it just does the standard like 5 swings in random order. (asx i twould appear)

The wolf aspect seems prettyf ucking cool. I mean i know its kinda weird, to think about, but its kinda fun in alot of ways, and just adds extra vigor to the overall game play.

A note of good about the physics and what not. Say you're running through like knee high water, your character wasically remain dry, but if you are running along then do a roll in that same water your character will have the soaked graphic on him. Basically all his clothes turn darker than before. Thats one cool thing about the game. Is that when you have been in water your body is "soaked" but after about 10 seconds you return to being dried off.

And one last side note, already the fishing in the game seems pretty fun too.

Just completed gears of war on hardcore.

Brief thoughts on the game:

Gameplay - Fantastic. No complaints - other than a few improvements which would make it a lot better - mapping run to the Y button to avoid mistakes with cover and improving squad AI. The Kryll section stands out as a particularly fine example of great gameplay.

Graphics - Best graphics I've ever seen in a game. Period. Everything is just perfect. Great selection of locales - I was never once bored with the scenery, and it never felt "re-used".

Sound - Loved the sound effects and the chatter of your teammates. The music was amazing too - especially one particular tune which plays during tense battles.

Story - Weakest aspect of the game. "Go over here and kill these locusts" doesn't really cut it. I hope Epic learn from this mistake for GOW II.

Multiplayer - Quite enjoyable, but I would have prefered more options - like limiting weapons on the map, more players, and more modes. Epic themselves have said they'll be supporting GOW heavily with downloadble content, so hopefully they'll add some more features. I would have loved it if you could've customised your characters in GOW - different colours, bits of armour, and the like. Co-op is great. During the last part of Act 4, I enlisted the help of a friend to complete an otherwise kick-in-the-balls section.

Overall - This game is one of the best I've ever played, but among my list of "Top Ten" games, it's sit near the bottom. I give it a 9.5

ehh i never really get into the fishing, but i've gotta give it points. you hold the remote upright and use the nunchuck to reel the fish in like you would in real life, it's sthweet.

oh yeah, i heard it'll take approximately forty hours to beat, so i'm hoping there's more to this game than we're led to believe. i've "rescued," if you will, three of the four light spirit things, and completed two of three temples...so maybe it'll be like oot and there's a wild part of the story yet to be revealed that'll entertain me just as much.

Yeah i started reading spoilers and skipped the rest of your post haha. So i can't comment on the last half. yeah i've dedicated myself to beating FF12 before i really get into any new game. I'm way too far into FF12 to put it aside. I'm about 38 or 39 hours into it.. soo....

I've gotten basicaly to right before the fire temple and i've stopped. I guess i'm about 6 hours in. But i'll hold off on that. I still gotta finish about 6 or 7 songs on Guitar hero on expert, then beat Final Fantasy 12, and i'll pick it back up again.

Also i bought the original zelda on my wii and i'm already on the 5th temple woot. Tis a decient nintendo game.

yeah i saw this. I've heard of a few stories about the wii mote flying. The only thing i have to say is the wrist band would work alot better if the little tighting thing actually clamped down. Because after about like 3 or 4 frames of bowling and its completely loosened up again. And i bowl pretty fucking hard on that game, but i don't plan on losing the remote. Especialy since i grip the fuck out of it. I do think its kind of stupid how the actual wrist band connects to the remote. Should be changed.

But i'll be honest i'm fucking surprised (kinda) that they're breaking, and people are using the wiimote THAT HARD. I mean.. i fucking balls to the walls.. but come on, by no means would i imagine this thing breaking. Its a fucking tank.

Just wanna make a quick post about Splinter Cell: Double Agent. Badass game just like its predecessors. If you like the old ones especially the most recent Chaos Theory, then you're gonna love this one. Single player now has a co-op computer partner to help you out. Everything else seems alot like the past titles. I haven't gotten that far in it so there still might be some new stuff to uncover.
