you've lost your mind. If you are going to play a shooter on a laptop you better have an external mouse, and probably an external keyboard, and possibly an external monitor like i have.
Pc shooters are the best. Fo sho

Precise aim is better on a controller? Wow haha that absolutely can't be possible. I mean just from the pure physics of it. You can be much more precise using an entire stable hand and arm vice using thumbs. Hence why all precise movement with a cursor is done with a mouse. (graphic editing and so on)
Granted i undersatnd some people have learned using gamepads to shoot, but to say its more precise, seems like a stretch. You've just played way too much halo haha, and i've played way too much doom.
Edit: Another parallel i could have to this would be firing a pistol. Holding it and squeezing it with the hand allows for way too much movement, vice using your arms to hold hte weapon makes it rediculously stable.

in all fairness, they can be quite different. i, for one, have bought most of the Tony Hawk series. every time i got a new one, i was out for new levels. the gameplay may not change much (though it has come very far), but im more into new levels to skate on. also, the skating games never bore me, i just do like i would in real life... or think like i would. its like my friend, he was never a creative skater. in fact, he would just immitate me most of the time, and never offer anything new. when he played the game, you could see the lack of creativity. i, however, am mainly interested in being creative, and the game allows for much more of that than reality ever did.

i like making a shite skater and just doing easy tricks over low things and easy gaps thats where the real fun lies. when tony hawks 2 came out me and my mate recorded clips and made a small skate movie haha good ol gaming times

Yeah when i play tony hawk series i try to play "realistically" as possible. So i try to actually skate some skate spots how i would actually do it in real life.
I always invisioned they would make a kick ass rpg skateboarding game where it was like realistic. Where you wouldhave to build up your abilities in each trick and what not by doing tricks over and over and over again. It would basically take a realistic aspect on skateboarding. Obviously only the hardcore people would probablyw ant to play it, but i think it would be sweet.
So basically in order to be a good skater you would have to spend a shit ton of hours just improving your skaters ability at different tricks, you know at first you try the tricks with like limited skill and they just go all over the place cause he sucks at doing it. Then you know later he starts landing htem every few tries and so on.
At teh beginning you could tag a few tricks to be like your "stock tricks" and they start out higher than your other ones and they progress faster than the rest of hte tricks.
I think it would be a sweet game to a skaetboarder with lots of time on his hands. I used to play th underground for rediculous amounts of hours just doing "realistic" type stuff.

Yes i use to play halo more than 20 hours a week.Halo 2 that is and online with xbox live I was a highly ranked player and im thinking if making a come back and with that will be a montage if I ever get a capture card or I make one the cheap way with a VCR and record my self.
One game that will enchance your aim is Unreal CHampionship.Ive been playing for four years now off and on.Its a very fast past game if you have an xbox and either XBC or XBL invest in it.THe game shouldnt be over $10 used.

Who's excited about Bully?
I kinda expected it to randomly bomb, but it looks great. Rockstar really made everything work surprisingly well.
While it may be tempting to blow off all of your classes, staying in school has very real benefits. Each class has five minigame sessions, and succeeding at each task gives you a bonus.
Ex: English class gives you a set of letters, and you have to come up with as many words as you can by using those letters. Passing English gives you increased verbal abilities, allowing you to beg off from beatings or apologize to authority figures to avoid getting busted.

Yeah i saw that, although i'm still going to get FF12 when it comes out, just cause i know it will be good enough to be addicting, and i need an addicting game right now. DQ8 was doing it for me, until it got obnoxiously too hard.

holy shit, kids, don't buy PES5 this year (assuming you buy soccer games). for the first time in 5 years, FIFA is actually the superior game. go figure.
this advice was brought to you by "don't waste your money, you stupid piece of shit!!!!"

Did anybody else fall into "Fable's" trap? First off, I am not going to say how long I followed that game for, absorbing all the hype and screenshots.
If you have any idea how good it could have been, you will never consider it to be a good game. That really made me think differently about video games, because I realized they really are never what they seem... Oblivion is a special case though.
Unfortunately I'll probably do the same for Fable 2... Fuck Peter Molyneux god damnit, I feel like his slave or something. He tricked me so badly.

I thought fable was an awesome game. It was just that the story mode missions and whatnot were too short. If they would have tacked on about twice as much missions, that game would have been solid!

I just read the review at ign.com for FF12. I will definately be attempting to buy that game tomorrow. According to ign its a pretty fucking amazing game, and the review definately raised my eyebrow enough for me to go buy it.
Although if i had a modded ps2 i would have probably already had it, and beaten it haha.

i've got it reserved and am going decked out in my halloween costume to pick it up 'cause i'm wearing it to my classes....haha. i've heard good things, but vaan looks and sounds a bit too much like tidus for my taste i like the cloud kind of main character, not a sexually confused seventeen year old boy. but the song on the official square enix site is pretty cool. i'm definitely counting down.

Really? I get too engrossed to stop playing them. Sometimes i'll just hear some rpg music, and i HAVE to play that game and i'll get so into it, i'll play it for days then beat it, and then get sad cause i want to play it again and reexperience the game again.
Lets just say theres something magical to me about sitting down and playing an rpg that makes you not move for 12 hours in a day.
Edit: Although often times i'll get to the end and not feel motivated to beat it, cause its like... i've already learned the entire story, now its just a fuck load of bosses and fights... and i don't really like battles all too much, especially since at hte end of the game its almost nothing but that. No plot development.
As a result to this day i still haven't beaten Final Fantasy 3/6 because i get to hte end and you h ave to beef EVERY character up to a very useable status in order to get to the end since you split into 3 parties. (thats fucking 12 characters you have to get good magic for) So... even at 56 hours i'm like fuck this, i don't want to sit here and battle my characters up, and i put down the game every time. I need to beat it once.

I have played FF games for a total of maybe ten minutes. Maybe I should try some out a bit more.
Are they really as structured as they seem though? Because that's what never appealed to me, and that's why I bought Morrowind and Oblivion over any FF. I did enjoy the KOTOR games, and they look moderately related (but I've always heard better for FF).

Well the simple answer to this question is... No. Sure in morrowind and oblivion you can just about make your character an ything you want them to be, but you can kind of do similar in most final fantasy games. Not all but most. Just off the top of my head you could do that in any final fantasy game that features class changing systems FF4, FF5 also you can do that with the esper magic learning system in FF6. I would say Final fantasy 7 is pretty structured for hte most part becuase you can't really shape how your chracters learn and come out. But final fantasy 8 you could junction different spells to different characters to make them be faster or stronger or better at magic.
In final fantasy 10 you could literally take any character down any single path and for the most part makes it your choice how they turn out. Apparently in the new on FF12 thats coming out you'll be able to do this to much more of a degree than in 10.
But enough off the abiilty to alter characters. The difference i think i see in oblivion/morrowind in comparison is the ability to stop what you are doing and do something completely different not part of the story, in much greater amounts. If you are playing the game purely on the main quest and maybe a few side quests here and there its almost no different than any other rpg game ever. Its still a story and its still a path.
I'll agree that there is more structure to a "traditional" (using this loosely) rpg than some of the other more nonlinear ones. But hell who says you can't just explore the world map in most regular rpgs as it is?
Well to sum this all up, I'd say there is some validity to what you say, but not most. I'd dig and investigate it a little further.

Well in that case I'll probably read into 12, and maybe pick up a copy of 10 later (when I don't have a 6-9 pg essay due and I'm done applying to colleges). My brother used to have 10 but it got destroyed by the ps2, all scratched.
Does X-2 compare to 10 well? I heard it was nowhere near as good.

I used to talk crap about x-2 till i bought and played it so now i have good experience with it.
Its definately different... at best. I'd say its pretty mediocre. Although, that game is pretty fucking hard. Even for an rpg guy like myself i had a hard time with some of hte bosses, i didn't eve get a 3rd of hte way through it. Just wasn't that capturing of a game.
To me 10 is a very solid buy. Hel its only 14-20 bucks and its one of the most original rpgs out there.
Although i must warn you with these more "standard" rpgs, its not as obvious how to change your characters how you want them to. As for this example i'll use Final fantasy 10. You can make your characters any sort of way, but you gotta know how to use the sphere grid system and where to take them, as the game has a laid out path that you can follow if ou don't care to take them else where.

So i bought FF12 and i['ve played it for about 5 hours now, and i'm ready to make a preliminary review of the game as of far.
This game fucking rules, end of discussion.
Completely and totally new everything, and nearly everything in the game youc an tell they did their fucking homework and their work. Just running around in the first city, you just literally can't be more surprised how easy it envelopes you into the surroundings.
Now onto the "touchiest" issue. the battle system. In short, this battle system MAKES me want to do battles, and coming form a person that almost fucking HATES doing battles, this is a big thing. Its just so .... SO well integrated into the game play, that its.... almost nothing to do any battle, it doens't take fuckign hours like other rpgs do. A battle may last... 1 minute max. And you're moving on, no victory screens, no poses, just straight.. running along.. oh an enemy.. hit hit hit, dead, ok back to moving on.
So in short, i highly recommend whoever likes just good video games to buy it. Its worth it so far.

I started playing Soul Calibur III for PS2. Truly badass! I thought SCII was going to be hard to top... Anyone else enjoy thrashin some ass in those side-by-side fighting style games? Tekken 3 was my last huge tweak. I could beat some ass with Bryan and Lee...

well i have to admit, so far it's a great game. i haven't played nearly that much yet, though. the license board is reminiscent of the sphere grid from ffx, and vaan does that exact same tidus pose..eugh. i don't like the battle system as much as the turn-based style; it's still a little confusing, but i'll get used to it. i do like that there are no victory screens and time-consuming things like that for every battle, though. i got the collector's edition because the regular ones weren't available for reserve any longer when i got it, but i haven't had a chance to check out the bonus features yet. i think it's definitely worth buying, and without even waiting for the price to go down, at that.

I'm up to a lil over 10.5 hours now and i'm fucking hooked on this battle system. Like i said, i hate fucking battles usually, but this makes the game much more enjoyable. It definately takes a little bit of time to getting a decient strategy and a hold on the situations, but i'm definately a fan of where things are going so far.
This is also one of the most serious, adult rpgs i've ever played as well, which i did read that it was before i got it. Its definately got a taste of alot of things mixed together like Final Fantasy Tactics. But one thing that i find intresting is how much this game reminds me of star wars. It feels like the same enviornments except there isn't any space travel and what not. But like the cities, and the outdoors, and the creatures that live among the "humans" just scream star wars haha, but not so nerdy and... star wars like.

haha. well, of course, as a fffreak, i find it to be a great game, anyway. i haven't played much more because i'm such a diligent student but i uh..think i'll go do that now.

Star Wars? What? Wookiees? Star Destroyers? AIDS?
Sorry. Excuse my mild ADD.
I've got a question about the two secret levels on DOOM II; what the hell is Wolfenstein?

Uh no, sorry wrong game there buddy.
No man its freaking Wolfenstein 3d... Come on now! one of the original 3d shooter games! I played that mo fo when iwas in 1st and 2nd grade.
You can download the snes version of it and play it on an emulator i believe.
That game was classic. 4 weapons. A knife, a pistol, a rifle, and a chain gun and thast it. Woot.
Wolfenstein 3d is basically a game about being like a secret agent i guess and you killing nazis and what not. The game has intense mazes with extremely repetative textures for walls. When running htrough the game it can seriously make you motion sick because of the textures the game uses.

That sounds like a very fair deal.
Somewhat bringing back up the quality issues with the xbox.
how come all thees people i know including myself have had problems with their xbox... and i still have my ps2 and its fully functional AND i know a guy who had the most ghetto ps2 EVER. Didn't really have a case.. and when thihs oter guy knocked it off the tv shelf, it went flying everywere and the guy said not to worry about it, cause it would still work.
He was correct. We turned it back on and it was working like a champ.

My friend had the opposite happen to him. His X-box was indestructable and every one of his PS2's would always break.
He's bought, like 2 or 3 PS2's because they kept breaking, due to either technical problems or people who screw around too much.
His X-box, however, got drenched in water andwouldn't work for the rest of the day. The next day, however, after it was dried out, it worked perfectly.
Personally, I think X-box works better than PS2.

My PS2 broek a while ago. I think it is a pretty common problem with the disc reader. I trie dot manually fixed it and it worked once but not again after that. It is one of the first generation ones, that came out in october of 2000. so ....yeah

i'm one of those freaks who buys the new systems as soon as possible, so i've had all mine since near when they came out. i've never had a problem with any of them. my main controller for my ps2 is one of those nyko airflo ex things, y'know, for those serious gamers..haha, and the fan doesn't work anymore. so it just functions like a regular analog controller. i've never even had problems with my reeeeaally old systems.
my senior year in high school, i was in a video game club. a couple of the guys got enough money together to buy a {presumably used} gamecube and drop it from a window a few floors up, try out a sledgehammer on it, et cetera....the damn thing still played games just fine. hahaha.
hey guys..guess...what....seven days until the ps3, and nine until the wii!! </game nerd>

Counter Strike was a good game back in 2001-2002. Haven't played the game since then.

Oh shit, have fun with that. Looks incredible, a guy I know at school has it too and is obsessed. Give some sort of review later.
I just still really want Bully right now.

I didn't like call of duty 2 that much. COD 1 was the shit because when you put it on veteran mode, it was much like playing it "realistically." COD2 just isn't near as realistic imo as COD 1.

Played through COD2 a bit, and I agree 100%. COD 1 is the superior game. I like how in the first COD you could only take two or so hits until you died, and how the lack of crosshairs forced you to look through the weapon sights every time. Shame they removed those great features in COD 2.

After reading some reviews on DA, I regret buying COD 2 today. I love games where your actions determine the storyline. Ah well, I'm going to buy it sooner or later anyway.
Can't fucking wait until Gears of War comes out.

Wow, I can't believe I still haven't played that, or even the first. They should start making different genres:
Guitar Hero: Classic Rock
Guitar Hero: Grunge
Guitar Hero: GoreGrind!
Guitar Hero: Transcribed Bach.

haha i kinda agree with you. I mean it has some pretty cool songs.
I mean i've seen it. .and was like yeah it seems pretty cool. But i mean like i said in the thread before about playing musicwhatever and i'mt he kind of guy that gets into it. not like obnoxious like jump off furniture. But i do headbanging, i move with the groove o fhte music (i started off playing bass while my friend did lead on expert) Playing the bass for hte game was alot of fun, especially drunk cause its much more about feelin the music than throwing trebled notes out. imo

He died!
Banjo Kazooie was a fun game back in the day. My friend wants to do a cover of one of the songs from the game. He even tabbed it out just for fun. Sounds like a mediocre but cool sounding black metal song.

Hahaha me and my friend played that game for 10 hours straight on Friday, and then another 4 on Saturday. It's insane. The only thing that sucks is that it has little replay value (most shooters suffer from that problem though), and that part where you had to drive the jumper and shoot the kryll with the UV light. That part was gay. My friend and I got to there on the hardest difficulty but gave up.
