Seems that someone has gone and started making a real to life bionic hand. They even plan on integrating it somehow into the human nervous system so you can feel with it, and command it with thought...
It would be fantastic if they could give amputees a way to play guitar again.

That's terrific they could do that for you Tranny, but bionics is something quite different. If they could make bionics for mass quantities of body parts people like Jason Becker and that drummer from Def Lepperd might have some hope of recovery.
My grandmother had metal plate and 9 pins in her hip that she broke first when she caught the edge of her knee on the open oven door and fell. I used to tease her that I'd use her for an antenna.

Back home, we don't have cable or satallite or whatever. We have regular tv, with about 10 fuzzy channels and a master antenna in the attic. The antenna has been broke for about 5 or so years now, and we have tied a couple pieces of kite string to each end. Whenever the tv stations get too fucked up--so we don't have to crawl around in the attic--we just pull on one of the strings, moving the antenna around. Very ghetto. And when the master antenna just won't cut it, we have a set of bunny ears next to the tv set. It'll fuck with the station even if you walk near that damn thing . And if you touch it in the right spot, and stick your left leg out towards the living room window, while licking your right finger and pointing towards the kitchen, it'll really come in clear.
...oh, that last part....is a joke

You got a point there but what if the hand could translate the visual image of the hand moving in curtain movements into the correct movements. I'm sure they have seen how real hands work so maybe the synthetic hand could tap into that part of the brain.
If it would allow me to play guitar better I will cut my hand off!

how long and tedious was the operation and recovery? i got it in sept 03 and i still, and always will, have back pain. especially when playing guitar. heloooo 20 minute only practice sessions.
interesting point about someone with one hand not having the right brain set up. i wonder if we can figure a way around that
