First thing to do would be to grab the Xbox and pull the controllers and power cord out. If you are at this step then something serious is going down. Don't lose control. It's the pissed off and in control fuckers that are the most dangerious. The child should know this or at the very least since the danger if they were born with any instinct of perservation.

Next step depends entirely upon the 9 year old during and directly after step one. Best thing for them to do would be to remain very still and very quit for the next few moments... without any attitude. If the child has made it to this point then proceed to step three. Otherwise, go to step four.

Step three: Have the child displace themself somewhere approprate until further, more personalized, consequences have been decided. The anticipation of those consequences might actually be worse punishment to them. You have now reinforced a needed life lesson by showing there are unwanted reactions to bad behavior. By doing nothing helps reinforce bad behavior to occur again and make this lesson even harder for them to learn later in life.

Step four: This step can be a great stress relief and a creative outlet for any aggression you may be feeling at the moment. There are no clear steps here but there are some guide lines. Defend yourself! If the child attacks you ( stands up, moves toward you, ect. This is kinda subjective so decide for yourself how they are attacking you ) then make sure they will not be able of doing it again.

Alternate Step: If you feel the situation has gone far beyond even starting at step one then blend all steps together at once. Go get the child the glass of milk. A nice cold, huge glass of the stuff. You can even put a straw in it so that they may better play Xbox and drink at the same time. Now bring it to the child and give it to them. Ask if thats ok and do they need anything else. A refill perhaps? Make sure they are satisfied and make sure they still have pletty of milk otherwise go get them a refill. Now that you know they have enough milk, open the Xbox and pore the milk into it. When the child starts to curse your name you should beat them until they are praying for God to kill you. Now put them somewhere approprate until further, more personalized, consequences have been decided.

This will fix the problem.
