There is a show coming on telly next Thursday called 'Death Metal Murders' over here in Britain. Looks terrible. It's about the rising number of murders and suicides made in the name of extreme metal basically although the creator probably doesn't know it himself.

There was, in the synopsis in the telly mag' that my mither showed me, only mention of this amateur lot from Italy called Beasts Of Satan. The thing altogether looks rather prejudiced about our music and the producer will be getting hell from me. There seems to be focus only on the dumb-assed cheesy Satanic stuff and more black than death anyway. If they have any decency, there will be a mention of the glorious history of our music and a nod to some of the immense musicians that it has produced.

I'll be watching next Thursday. I'll be posting comments then. I'm calling out to all British metaltabheads to watch and if it turns out to be balls, I call out to all death metallers on metaltabs to rise in defense of our way of life and give the bastards some words. Post your comments and angry words and I will compile a massive complaint note from all of us and that dickwad's pigeonhole will burn with our worded fury!

Snoop Dogg softened his image at the same time he rode at the forefront of a popular youth musical movement. By the time he came around, gangsta rap was a big movement. Death metal is no equivalent. And Woodstock? The generation of people who went to it, which was a huge deal to an entire age group at the time, are the people in charge now. It's typical to be nostalgic. If there was an entire generation of people who listen to death metal bands, then maybe, twenty or thirty years down the line, it would be in the same position of nostalgia. Or, if they sold out and softened their image extensively, maybe Suffocation would have the exposure of Snoop Dogg. You can't equate death metal with either the hippy movement or gangsta rap; the scales are completely different, and neither the hippies nor the OGs were ever so mired in the abject. You're comparing apples to pomegranates. Don't waste my time.

And the problem is almost certainly not that nu-metal is considered death metal. That may be a problem, but it's not the cause of death metal's violent image. That probably has more to do with lyricists like Chris Barnes and idiots like this 'sect.'

Every 10 years or so a documentary gets made like this. In the early 90's a program called 'Dancing with the Devil' was aired. I was very surprised at this documentary. It was all good apart from the obvious Slayer thing. And although people were saying that death metal is satanic and the root of all evil, I let them off because their kids had been murdered and they were looking for something to blame. If someone close to me died in horrible circumstances I'd be quite pissed of at everything and everyone.

I was also surprised that there were actual death metal and black metal artists mentioned like Autopsy and Mayhem. I was expecting the usual Ozzy Judas Priest Manson thing.
