Whats the craziest animal you've ever eaten?

I've eaten zebra and crocodile. Going to try and do lion or giraffe next.

my best friend has had a kangaroo burger in amsterdam.
think that beats my zebra? cuz zebra is kinda like horse, but kangaroo is kinda liike big fucking rat. croc was prob. the tastiest meat ive had.

when you chow crazy animals and shit, they arent bred for food, or hunted. the're animals from the nature reserves that have been culled, and they sell the bodies as a delicacy instead of having the maggots eat them (around here anyway, don't know about those kangaroo burgers).

i've had most of the english birds that have ended up roadkill...we had a partridge stuck in the grill for 200miles once, tasted ok...

Crocodile and Kangeroo.

For some reason the crocodile tasted like washing up liquid, I can't remember the kangeroo due to the fact the proceeding night was...er...well drunk.

Oh yeah, the word drunk reminded me. I've had very well done antelope, too. My brother in law fixed that many years ago, but he was so loaded that it got a tad too charred.

Where I live, breaking open a crawfish that's been boiled alive, and sucking the brains right out of its skull with your mouth is pretty common.

we always have cuirch breakfasts, we actually had one yesterday, and they're always good. pancakes, eggs, toast, tea bisquits, ham, sausage, home fries, beans, coffee, tea, juice. we also have a 'harvest supper' every fall wich is just roast beef and it's affiliates with various pies and cakes for dessert

A guy I know once ate sheep testicles (I think). It was while we were on vacation in Uruguay, and he just ordered something random ( he couldn`t read the menu) He didn`t realise what he was eating untill he had almost finnished eating

I like to eat on Dragons Groin flesh not much bone around there just lumps of pure meat, it's sweaty enough so u dont need salt and it's purely golden.

The most exotic animal I've ever had is crocodile. What a fuckign rip off, it just tasted like dry/rubbery chicken.

Aside from that, my favourite "exotic-ish" meat is venison and monkfish.

My grandfather was telling me of two particularly digusting delicacies from the Eskimos and Italians. The Eskimo one is to bury a fish in the ground for two weeks, and then dig it up and eat it raw. The lady on TV talking about it was talking about how she loved when the eyeballs popped in her mouth. The Italian one is to get a big block of cheese and cut a bowl-shaped hole in the middle. When maggots begin to form in the bowl, that's when the people take out their crackers and use the maggots/cheese as a dip.

Pheasant tastes really good, dangerous though cause you've gotta be careful you don't break your teeth on the shot left in the meat

I had a Japanese beetle land on my tongue once when I was a kid and running with my mouth open through my yard. I didn't eat it though. Those little claw thingies on their feet and legs feel weird.

There is a long, long list of animals that have died in the service of the FBS GI tract.

Ostrich (very lean, hard to cook properly)
Emu (as above, only with less silly feathers before it's dead)
Kangaroo (my local butcher gets this in for me - I have a kangaroo marinade which Jamie Fucking Oliver would murder for)
Croc (quite boring, unless fresh and prepared correctly)
Snails (usually so heavily flavoured they could be anything)
Frog's legs (I always wondered what happened to the rest of the frog)
Shark (Flake) (unremarkable)
Shark's fin (well tasty, quite strange)
Venison (beautiful, gorgeous, brilliant)
Rabbit (gorgeous when corn fed, lightly killed then roasted - fucking vile when cooked over an open fire)
Buffalo (so help me, I can't remember what this was like)
All manner of offal, shellfish, fish and general sea creatures too numerous to mention
And once, I ate a live prawn as a dare. Then, I was sick. In my defence, I was 15 and was no more intelligent than an average 'Tabber.

I got it in France. Very very tasty, tender and juicy, I would highly recommend it.
I live near the channel tunnel, so I can hop over to france now and then and grab some horse, cheese, wine and European beers.

I've also had rabbit and pheasant, both very good.

My dad has tried seal and whale in Greenland when he was on a kayaking expedition.

I want to go to china and try dog.

the wierdest thing i ate was at the japanese restaurant. my old boss came in with the fish egg sack, threw it on the grill. i thought some sluglike creature fell from the drop ceiling to die on my grill. the nastiest blue looking slug thing i ever seen. cut it up and threw it in some miso, pretty salty.

Nah, there's bufflao farms around here and we had it in California. It tasted like beef. Maybe it was the way the animal was killed or the age. That makes a huge differenec with venison I know.

Well at that church I mentioned earlier,they made it into meatballs with some kind of sauce.That may have been why I didn't care for it.

Old thread I know, but eating animals is a subject close to my heart.

I have recently added whale (probable Minke Whale) and puffin to my list of unusual tasty meat treats. I'm currently in Iceland and had both of these in restaurants.

The whale was fantastic. I had it in two different preparations. The best was in steak form, it was cooked fairly rare and peppered. Tender and juicy with a flavour similar to beef, but with a slight hint of fishy flavour.
I also tried it raw, but that wasn't as tasty.

Puffin was not as good, but was still highly enjoyable. This was served as grilled puffin breast with thin strips of goose on top. It had a strong flavour, sort of game bird meets liver meets fish, but that probably sounds a bit nasty - it was tasty.

I'm on the lookout for seal at the moment.

Anyone else had any unusual fauna recently?

If you wanna try fish, start with salmon, trout, calamar and shrimps. Nothing can be bad tasted, it's just the way you cook it. Those thing that you think bad, is the thing you REALLY hate

tried a little salmon before..didn't like it. i've had fried calamari before..but it was breaded also and dipped in sauce. wasn't bad.. shrimp is my favorite of all the seafood, however that too tastes better to me with breading and sauce.

seems all seafood tastes better to me with the addition of other things..to the point where you can't taste the fish as much.

that is why i love steak. you can throw a nice cut right on the grill, cook it right, then eat it with nothing else and it tastes great.

Alligator - Don't remember how I felt about it
Ostrich - Only in dried form but still tastey.
Whale - Good
Reindeer - both grilled, dried, and cured (all really, really good)
Mealworm - didn't really make much of a meal
Countless kinds of seafood (shark, swordfish, squid, octopus, etc)

I can't wait to see what in the hell will be put in front of me whenever I travel to the East. If I have the money I will be visiting Ecuador this December and plan on trying tradionally prepared Guinea Pig as well.

I have to agree, cod is the most overrated fish I've ever had. It's also getting expensive what with stocks declining. Not worth it.

Lobster is also overrated in my opinion. It's nice, but not that good.

Horse is awesome.

Not very exotic, but rabbit and pheasant are good too.
