Agreed. Because of the long wait until PS3, I will probably get one, despite being over-priced. I'm actually incredibly pissed off, because I just heard that PS3 launches next holiday season, and then i have to wait until holiday 2007 for the next Grand Theft Auto.

There is no doubt that the Xbox360 is outperformed. As long as it has some good games, I don't see it failing. Thats why I don't own an xbox; lack of good games have kept me from owning one. Halo is boring, and stupid, IMO. Then again, alien shooters have never appealed to me. Whatever.

I'd say the 360 and PS3 are quite evenly matched. But the only reason I'm inclined to go for a 360 is because of the games that'll come out for it.

I actually played the Call of Duty 2 demo on a 360 today. The controller was pretty good, and the graphics were basically like that of a top of the line PC.

Unless you have a FUCKING AWESOME TV your graphics can NEVER look as good as they can on a PC. The resolution of a TV is 640x480 (maybe 800x600 at best), this is the number of pixels that are on the screen (bigger = better = more detail). I run my computer monitor at 1280x1024.

Looking at computer prices, here you can get a decent system that will run most anything (including proceesor/graphics whores like doom 3/quake 4) for about a grand (remember, this is Australia). A brand new next-gen console will set you back $600-$700 (when it first comes out). So what is better, a console you can plug into your TV to play games, and maybe watch DVDs at a particuarly poor resolution, or a Computer that you can use to play games, watch DVDs, surf the internet, type up homework, listen to metal (and ONLY metal you cunts!) MP3s, etc.

Functionality is what makes a PC far superior to a console any day. The main reason that game distribution companies prefer to release things on a console is because it is harder to pirate things on them, however by that mark, there will also be games that can only be released on a PC because a console can not handle things like controls or hard disk access that a PC can.

Also a console is a standalone thing, when everyone wants a better console, they need to sping for a totally new one, where as for a PC, if something is old and no longer working, you only need to replace that part: therfore a PC has greater upgradability than any console.

My final remark in my mini-anti-console essay stlye rant is that without PCs consoles wouldn't exist, you need to remember that all stages of creating a console run off a PC. The OS needs to be coded using a PC, it then needs to be tested usng... a PC! All games are coded from a PC, and alpha testing of the games (and probably most stages of beta testing) will also be done on a PC.

BeastOfCarrion is right, except al the new systems have HD capabilities which raises thier resolution up quite a bit, taht is if you have an HDTV. Still, PC wil always be better. The technology will be on the PC market for a year before it gets implaced into a colsole. They will always be behind.

+1, fuck Halo. I don't enjoy it. I didn't enjoy the 2nd one. Space/Alien games generally make me want to vomit profusely, and this is a slight exception. Co-Op is the only thing that keeps this game from not blowing full ass.
