That just gave me a bad vision of a tag team called Pancrea-eye (spelling just for pronounciation purposes) and Spiny. Tranny, have you ever worn purple tights and a cape?

Nice, maybe one day your hands can be like bench vises, like mine
I benched with sets of 135, 155, and 185 the other day, and my chest is aching bad. Maybe I'll start lifting again...

Trim your callouses or you'll be pissing blood and wincing when a good one comes off. And as much as that makes you feel TEH MANLYZ it also means you can't lift big fucking weights as easily. So get a razor blade on them.

If you're ever near a library, try finding the book Scientific principles and methods of strength fitness by: John Patrick O'Shea, 1966.
It's some equation thing that olympic bodybuilders back in the day used to caculate if they're overshooting their workout or something........anyways, I didn't understand it at all.

hey FBS can you do me a favor and draw up an ab program for me? keep in mind my complete inability to work on my abs from the top half, so i imagine itll be legs-only
theres also no physical way i can work on my obliques so dont bother with that
edit
also keep in mind i have exceptionally weak abs from no use for the past few years, if that effects sets/reps

I bet you he'll tell you to do regular exercises that also put stress on your core, which includes doing anything, ever. It's impossible to get through the day, let alone any kind of workout (at least if you make yourself stablize the weights), if you actually have 'exceptionally weak abs.'

I just told you what I'd bet Jim will. From all I know about him, he
a. Doesn't do ab-centric exercises
b. Makes fun of people who do
c. Says (correctly) that you get enough of an ab workout if you do free weight exercises with perfect form and without relying on machines to stabilize for you
so my bet would be that he's going to say hurtful things about your masculinity and not give you a routine.

All true, but that's me. If you lift stones, do suitcase deadlifts and farmer's walks and squat/deadlift/pin pull big fucking weights, your abs get pulverised.
However! The chances of the six million dollar metalhead being able to replicate this state of affair are zero. Rehab programs for cripply-back people often include extensive ab work, because they're the antagonists to all the beautifully fucked spinal stuff.
So, let's find out what you can and can't do:
a) bend forward at the waist, like a crunch
b) twist your torso at the waist, like a Russian Twist
c) bend sideways at the waist, like a Side Bend
(I haven't used any of the nerd-terms, you can find them here if you want to know about flexion/extension etc.)
We'll go from there. It's possible to work everything in your torso as direct stabilisers to movements, rather than prime movers, so I'm sure we can come up with something.

Even when I threw shot (and hence was motivated by a large strength coach to essentially make my mid-section hurt dreadfully until the meets came) they didn't have us do a lot that focused exclusively on abs. A lot of presses on those silly balls, though, which made me appreciate the bench all the more.

its hard to explain. i CAN do it, but the bend occurs above where the fusion occurs. so the bending motion is happening closer to my shoulderblades than middle back. i dont think that helps my abs at all but ill leave that to you
yeah again, twisting occurs at the shoulderblades and is extremely limited

It tells me where you back does and where and why it doesn't bend and I can read case histories of rehab for people with back reconstruction and what's generally done and basically put everything entirely in context.
Thoracic and maybe one or two lumbar is OK, though... let's see...

Hey FBS.
Have you got any suggestions on something I can use to replace the animal protein in my diet?. I have recently been diagnosed with PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) and some of the research i've done suggests that a low protein diet (as well as many other things) can help slow the degeneration of the kidney. I have read quite a number of PKD diet guides and such, but was just wondering, what you would suggest taking for someone who's in my position but still wants to keep working out and gaining muscle?. I recall reading somewhere in here your a fan of a very high protein diet, but how about the opposite?
Of Course, when I see the specialist I will ask him about all this type of stuff, but it's good to get different outlooks on the situation.

Holy everloving shit, a real question!
I'll do some research and tell you later... from memory, PKD is managed with a low protein diet in general, not just a low animal protein diet.
I'll read some nephrology journals today when I have a moment.

Sounds good, thanks.
Edit - and yeah, it does recommend a very low protein diet, but I believe it said animal proteins were one of the worst offenders for accelerating the growth of cysts.

What your bodyfat is? That's supremely unimportant. I hope you're not paying to find out. Anyway...

Yeah, you didn't, did you?
Doesn't matter. If you can't bend so far, the way we can train your spastic abdominables is as support structures.
This is where we start: the below are exercises that are highly unstable. All of them involve the back sitting in an entirely neutral position, with the exercise trying to pull them out of said position. As such, they don't involve any flexion or extension.
First thing we do is practice these movements. They are often hard to coordinate and frequently described as 'advanced'. (This is weird, and wrong. They aren't 'advanced' - a one-legged one-handed power snatch is 'advanced'. These are just hard.) But either way, you have to learn to respect them and 'feel' the movement.
So, practice. I want 3-4 sets of 8-12 reps on each exercise, light enough so that you only vaguely approach pain on the last reps of the last set. If you get any immediate or sharp pain, stop immediately.
Introducing the magic of the suitcase deadlift. You'll be using significantly less weight than CJ Murphy does, and using a barbell. This is my favourite torso exercise - while you might think this is a leg exercise, you'll find that your whole upper body support structure and grip get blistered far before your legs do. It's a one handed deadlift with a barbell that sits to the side of your body. Pretty simple really... bend down, keep your spine neutral, and pick it up.
The Leg Raise. Or its sissy cousin, the knee raise - which is the same shit, but you bend your legs and raise your knees instead of your straightened legs. You can do them lying down on a bench, you can do them on a slanted bench, you can do them in a dips rack like the guy in the photo, you can do them hanging from a bar. Try leg and knee raises in different positions, find one you're most comfortable with. For you, I think hanging knee raises would be a good place to start.
The Transient Support. There is no such exercise. Don't click that link. I made this up. Listen carefully.
Get in a hyperextension rack like this guy. Except the other way around, facing the ceiling, so you'll have to get in sitting up. Now, lie back until your body is parallel to the ground - you'll be supporting your torso in midair. Hold that position for up to 30 secs, then get back sitting up again. That's one set. Basically, this is kind of the opposite to a leg raise, and might prove more comfortable.
Get familiar with these, then we'll talk about some other stuff.

OK. First, my perspective, then some research.
There was a ton of blather a few years ago about how high-protein diets were bad for your kidneys. This is total bullshit, bad science and probably pushed by the fucking hug-a-vegetable lobby for all I know. To my mind, there is no reason a healthy person should limit their protein intake.
That being said, you ain't exactly 'a healthy person'.
This is from an editorial in the journal Kidney International, 2003.
Quote:
More than 50 years ago, Addis speculated that the severity of chronic renal disease could be ameliorated by reducing the excretory burden for nitrogen through dietary protein restriction. Indeed, in experimental animals, dietary protein restriction reduces the load of nitrogenous metabolic end products, abrogates the adaptive changes in remnant nephrons (that is, glomerular hypertension), and slows progression of renal disease. Despite the longevity of this hypothesis and unambiguous support from experimental studies, confirmation of a beneficial effect of protein restriction in clinical trials has been elusive. However, a recent meta-analysis of five randomized, controlled trials of protein restriction on the progression of non-diabetic renal disease determined that the overall relative risk for renal failure or death was reduced with protein restriction, as compared to non-restricted protein intake15. Likewise, a meta-analysis of five small studies of diabetics showed that the relative risk of progression among 108 dietary protein-restricted patients was almost one-half that of diabetics eating a more liberal protein diet.

Basically: we can prove in a lab that the kidneys have to do more work when we eat protein, but proving that evidence translates into the advice 'a low protein diet is best for people with PKD' is much harder.
Here's what I would do:
* Confine your protein intake somewhat, don't use protein supplements at meals, don't take normal 'bodybuilding' recommendations seriously and what protein you do eat should be solely confined to high quality sources. Most important of all is post-workout nutrition - if you have to eat some protein, drop it at the very moment your body is crying out for it. Get a high quality protein powder and drop it the second you leave the gym.
* Train HEAVY, BIG EXERCISES and BRIEFLY, focusing on strength development. This has two advantages: you won't lose muscle mass and strength development proceeds very well regardless of dietary factors, regardless of what any bastard says.
* Hope that nephrologists come up with a proper treatment for PKD, which currently has no viable cure.

Listen carefully.

alright, i may have to get creative with some of this stuff because there is no hyper extension rack
thanks, ill see how this goes

Ok, so have you got any recommendations for a high quality protein source? I take it you mean in foods and not supplements?, I guess spirulina's out.
What do you think about multi's in my situation?

You're a skinny frigging teenager. You don't need an BF assessment - just look at yourself in the mirror and go WOO I'M SAIXY. Or not.

Yeah - meat, fish and eggs. I couldn't find anything on animal protein being worse than any other kind in PKD. If that's a real problem, you need caesin and whey protein (both found in protein powders, which are derived from milk).
Oh, and fuck spirulina. It's hippy garbage.
Multivitamins/minerals are a good idea for everyone, including you. I wish I could force these down the throat of the world.

If you want some real questions how about:
Off and on, I've mentioned my hand/wrist problems in this thread. Sometimes I'll pick up a dumbbell and a tendon/muscle/whatever pops and it feels like someone just shut a car door on my forearm. I have always had thin wrists to the point I can touch/feel every bone/tendon bump in my wrist and forearm. After doing Aikido for about a year now, and guitar as I've always done, my wrists are getting to the point where I can't move then or twist them without a snap crackle pop. My cartilage grinds against the bones when I stretch them. My right hand doesn't keep still when I stick my arm out in front of me.
My sensei tells me I'm using the gripmaster too much, and I'm only working my hands and forearms out in one direction. Instead, I should start stretching my hands and wrists in both directions so the back of my hand can get stretched and worked out too. He also reccommended glucosamine sulfate.
I just bought the cheapest one I could....the "Finest Natural" brand of just plain glucoamine sulfate 500mg, take 3 tablets per day.
There are powders, double strength, triple strength, gelatins, so on and so forth of this stuff too. What are you thoughts on which one you'd say I'd be best taking? Some of these things have other supplements in them too, of which I don't know their purpose, and whether or not I even need these extra supplements besides glucoamine. The double and triple strength ones, logically have more than 500mg, somewhere around 750mg and 1-2,000mg per dose.
Questions:
Would you agree that too much of some supplements is not good? Besides the ones with nothing but glucosamine sulfate, what the hell are--and is the purpose of--the following: Methylsulfonylmethane, Chondroitin, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid. Do I even need all these other supplements? Will it change anything if I add this other crap to my diet besides just the glucoamine? Does it really take a month or so for this stuff to even start working, because that's what I was told? Is there much different between the normal, double, and triple strengths?

All those other ingredients are typical 'joint food' formula ingredients. What they do is quite boring - they provide metabolic precursors to your body's synthesis of hard tissue.
You can't overdose on a glucosamine mix. I have a big kilo tub of it and throw a teaspoon into just about everything, all the time.
Pick the formula that's cheapest for the dosage and take a shitload, often, for a while.
Two hand training tips:
1) Train the extensors. You don't need something like this. Ordinary rubber bands are fine.
2) There's a book on hand and wrist health somewhere that you should get. I'll see if I can find a link.

Well what happens to all that excess dosage that I may not even need if I take too much?

It's metabolised and pissed away, like every single other thing that enters that hair-and-teeth sculpture you call a body.

Is Methylsulfonylmethane the same thing as MSM? It looks to be. I take that daily with my glucosamine chondroitin.
powers', a few people I've talked to and read about have said that castor oil rubbed on knees or other joints seem to alleviate pain and ease joints. Maybe that might help. I asked my doctor about it and he said that some of his patients swear by it. It might be worth a try.

Today's workout:
Overhead axle press 25*1, working on form. About 70kgs. Stop laughing - axles are hard to lift.
Lateral raises with a big fucking chain - 4*many
Grip work - bending and ripping shit.

A Short Essay On How I Am Stupid, Careless and Neglectful
By FBS
What happened:
It was another ordinary day in my home gym, the Torture Chamber. The workout was simple - 20 singles of clean and press with the axle, followed by some fat dumbbell clean and press (to simulate a log press), then pullovers, then evil grip work (wrist roller, pinch grips, vertical bar lift, etc.)
The cleans are a little ratty - axles are hard to rip off the floor due to the decreased tension your hands can generate - but the presses go up like a charm. I am listening to Gwar, because it is loud and hate-filled and doesn't fill up my head with meandering chromatic riffage.
I bend over at the waist to fix up the dumbbell after the cleans are over. In retrospect, it was probably exactly the way that the Occupational Health and Safety diagrams say you shouldn't bend over, bending deep in the lower back. I have never worried about things like this. My lower back gets so much abuse, the idea of it being too weak to keep my spinal integrity always seemed rather silly.
That being said, as my hand hits the dumbbell, I feel like a giant pair of claws has grappled my spinal erectors (the muscles in the lower back which go down to the glutes) and is violently twisting them inside out.
I fall to the ground like a felled tree. I have had all kinds of muscle pain before, but nothing like this. And this was different, in the centre of all my recent strongman endeavours, and shockingly powerful. I am too busy being confused and trying to figure out what the fuck is going on to cry.
Eventually I figure out that keeping my spine neutral made the pain go away. For several minutes, I lie sweating on the floor amidst the chalk, wraps, workout equipment, sawdust and iron filings. Eventually, I crawl like a retarded kitten over to the door handle and pull myself up.
Standing up at the door, I had a sudden and brief appreciation of Transient's life up to and including this point - the pain knocked me onto my knees again. I crawl to the bathroom, turn the shower on full hot, and throw myself under.
After five minutes, the skin is scalded but I can walk again. Still hurts. I grab the Diclofenac and eat twice the recommended dose (super anti-inflammatory pills usually reserved for pain after squat days), and rub my whole back up with Voltaren. Still hurts. This gets me going far enough to get down to the shops to grab some Atomic Strength Dencorub. "Do not use after showering. Do not massage in hard." Like fuck. I heat the skin again, then massage it in hard over the Voltaren. Still hurts, but less so.
(On the way back home, a charity collector hits me up for money. My exact words: "Fucking fuck the fuck off." He had no sense of occasion.)
Why this is a bad thing:
Apart from the crippling pain, that is. Recently I have just started a new cycle of training for a strongman competition. The lower back is the crucial factor in this sport which holds everything together. I will have to re-write my entire training schedule and if this does not immediately get better, pull out of my first competition.
God, what a total hassle. I cannot sit up properly. Both my jobs involve sitting up. Cunts, cunts, CUNTS.
Why this happened:
Because I am a careless idiot.
I do not pay enough attention to my sitting, sleeping and standing posture.
But especially, I do not stretch anywhere near enough for someone who does the amount of training I do, and I do LITERALLY ZERO mobility and tissue work.
After thinking it through and starting rehab this afternoon, stretching my hamstrings, glutes, hip flexors and IT band started to loosen the back pain up somewhat. The two are obviously connected.
The lesson I have learned very painfully:
When you start a new cycle of intense training, you cannot keep all your recovery habits where they used to be. If you are doing enough recovery to manage a 2hr per week workload, do not expect it to be sufficient for 6-8hrs!
In short, do not expect your body to give a fuck about you if you do not give a fuck about it.
What I am going to do:
Buy a foam mobility roller and a good mobility program. Devote 20 minutes twice a day to mobility exercises until back pain ceases. Devote 10 minutes per day to mobility after that. Pay more attention to my posture. Learn more about functional anatomy, a subject which I have always classified as 'deadly boring' and will now upgrade to 'deadly boring and VERY important'. Most of all, I will learn from my mistake, because this one fucking hurt.

Well, that's a kick in the nads if you can't be in your first strongman comp. Hope your recovery and learning experience pays off in the long haul. Seriously I hope you get back into it full force again. Everybody has some setbacks, but hopefully it won't be something that lingers with you.

Anyone here got the book from Muscles In Minutes by Steve Leamont? Its fucking cool. I learned alot. I learned not to do more than 20 reps total from all the sets on one particular muscle group, not to lock out, and do pretty fast reps to get more muscle contraction, and has some stuff about diet as well as picture demonstrating improper form and technique. Seriously, you got to get this shit. Im using this guy's 4 day split, after getting out from the Gym I feel so fucking tired but the next day I feel good. Ive seen good results. Rite now I went from 144-155 pounds in less than 3 months.
Check it out at a book store. Its helped me alot. OHHHH, and drink lots of whey shakes. PISS!

This was your first mistake. Pantera and Cannibal Corpse are just as heavy and won't distract you with ridiculous humor. Well, not unless you can understand what Chris Barnes is saying on the older albums. That shit is fucking FUNNY.

Jesus Fucking Christ! I do extensive stretching before any big walk or workout. Fuck, sometimes I do stretching and pushups just from being sore from standing up at work for hours on end. Is it silly for me to group pushups with stretching? I do it to loosen my shoulders, arms, back, and pecs. Now I'm realizing that, at my weight, it's not exactly light lifting.

I thought it was odd when I was going to Curves with my friend that they have you do stretches after the workout, not before. I don't know if the moderate jog prior really is enough to get everything ready for their workout. I never got sore though and I did push myself. I might go back. She signed me up for a free month. I'm on a downward hibernation mode right now though. I think people on the Great Lakes are supposed to hibernate in winter.

I noticed today for the first time that I have uneven pec muscles. Made me laugh briefly. I don't do a whole lot of working out, I just have some dumbbells and I do press-ups a few times a day. Is just ignoring this uneven-ness the best way to go about it and let it self-correct over time, or should I do more work on one side?

Actually that's a good mom workout. And it is for dads, too!
I think Hidrio is looking more for someone to see if his pecs are the same size. I know mine aren't, but I won't show ya either. You'll just have to use your imagination about how close to my knees they really are.

Cool. My work is done here for now. hehe
At least you didn't open the door at an inappropriate time like one kid did and run down the stairs and out of the house! That was so funny! He stayed away for days.

New toys - elbow sleeves.
Recommended for all skinny-elbow'd people doing a lot of overhead work.

Worked out yesterday for the first time in weeks.....here's what I did.
Squats:
6 sets of 10, 140lbs
All the way down until my ass touches my heels
Dips:
4 sets of 10
nice stretch going as far down as possible without bending over
pull ups:
3 sets of 10
I'm a pussy for this so I had to take off 70lbs of my bodyweight
whatever the fuck you wanna call 'em:
Arm lifts? ...I just lifted dumb bells vertically with a pinch grip (all four fingers though)
I just did 'em for 5 or so minutes with 30 lbs.
forearm exercise:
22.5lb dumb bell continuously....
I randomly did wrist curls in all directions, pinch grips, rolling around between fingers, and just twisting my arm left and right for about 15 minutes.
cool down curls:
a couple sets of 10 with the 40lb bar bell
And how could I forget, after I got home I showered and headbanged for some time afterwards....

Care to elaborate on that a bit? I've been pushing real hard on the leg press lately, I didn't realise it causes damage. The leg press I use is one of the newer machines by Nautilus btw.
The only thing I got pulled up on, by one of the gym supervisors actually. They said I was extending my legs too far, sort of locking them and then releasing, they told me to to stop just before my knee joints lock otherwise my knees will get rooted. Is there any truth in this?

Not bad bro. I read the squats and i was like 140! are you kidding me, then you said heels. Is this really a good idea going this far? I'm just wondering, cause it seems kind of like the pushup thing. In the sense that they say doing full pushups, all the way extended till you go PAST parallel tricepts to the deck (floor) that its not good for you.
haha you need some pullups ooh fucking raa. I actually REALLY need to work on pullups. I usually do em at work on the beams they have. I believe it or not went up in pullups as a result of doing pullups at work (at my old lowes) this one i've completely slacked. I've gone down from 15 pull ups to probably 10 max.

Haha, of course I used to be able to do more. lately I'm just getting those forearms, wrists, and fingers strong as hell. I don't need to be huge to win a fight. All I work out for now is to keep my body shape for Aikido.

Call me unknowing but isn't Aikdio one of the martial arts that has "almost" nothing to do with strength, rather it deals with using an opponets force against them?

Hell yeah. And strong fucking fingers/hands/forearms helps my extensions in throwing. Aikido is mainly an open-handed art...meaning....
if someone grabbed my wrist or forearm, I wouldn't close my hand at all, but spread my fingers as far out as they will extend. You'll notice that your wrist gets bigger when your hand is open, and then I extend my hand in the direction I throw. Then I Ki as loudly as fucking possible
Also strength in hands helps with the 4 techniques: Ikkyo, Nikyo, Sankyo, Yonkyo.

I wish the mc still did the training they used to do. As far as martial arts go. Apparently they used to aboslutely train to kill, but mothers of america stopped it. Hence why they went to MCMAP which isn't bad, but its not about killing your opponent.

Aikido is not intended to be a sport or have competition at all. We try to keep in mind that is a martial art that was trained to Japanese soldiers, and in a way, it is like being a U.S. marine. The techniques we do are intended to end the fight in a very little amount of time, fatally or close too.
Hence.....why turn a death trap into a sport unless you're the fucking Necrobutcher?

I actually have SERIOUSLY considered taking aikido for the practical purposes of self defense. I know its alot of hand twisting and turning in order to get your opponent to give up chase. And if anything counter their shit to offset their balance. You never know how much you need that until moment comes. I have thought about getting into another martial arts just for me. And hell maybe get serious into it. I need a few things that can help contain me and help balance me out haha.

Do Iwama Style Aikido. It's the most traditional basic form, based more on weopons. It's what I do, and I love it........I'll be doing it, hopefully, as a life-long process. Who knows, maybe after Yondon I'll start my own Dojo .

I've seen some of this on tv before. Weapons training would be cool. But unrealistic in most senses. Although i've definately considered getting into traditional training as it would relate to japanese. There is much to learn about japanese culture i think through tradition, which i haven't learned to appreciate till recently.

At the bottom position, when your legs fold up into something that might approximate a reasonable depth, they pull your spind out of the neutral position against the pad.
There is just no reason to leg press. Leg exercises are the easiest to invent and the most well developed when it comes to learning and executing form. Learn to squat, deadlift, pin pull, clean, overhead squat, hack squat, good morning, suitcase deadlift and Romanian deadlift.
Start here to find those exercises and more.

Unless you're locking them out REALLY HARD, as in you're actually pushing the sled right over the range of motion and hyperextending your knees the other way, it sounds like your gym faggot is... well... just being a gym faggot.
Never, ever underestimate the pernicious stupidity possible from so-called 'fitness professionals'. There is literally no other field of work where the people who are 'qualified' are so penetratingly ignorant about what they do. It's so, so, so bad sometimes.
(Notice in this sentence I have used the word 'literally' in the traditional and correct way in the above sentence - NO OTHER PROFESSION IS AS BAD. None. Zero. Zilch. Nix. Nada.)

Understood, makes total sense now that I think about it.

Killer! goldmine right there.
I have another (possibly stupid) question though, regarding those exercises you mentioned and just leg work in general.
My feet are as flat as a fucking pancake, not just a little flat but full on. My footprint looks like a duck's been walking in place of me. I have worn orthotics since I was three, if I didn't get them back then it's possible I'd be looking at hip replacements in the present.
So are all these exercises still OK for me to do? Personally I'd assume it's fine, probably more beneficial than anything so long as I keep my orthotics in while training. But I don't know much about skeletal movement/alignment and I usually like to hear others oppinions on the matter.

Haha, well the gym faggot in this case was a woman, which may or may not be worse But yeah, I wouldn't say I was pushing them to the point of going the other way, just pushing to max extension, she was probably exaggerating.

Haha, as I read that that I had a flash to that personal trainer guy who won big brother this year...
That's pretty fucked to think there are people out there believing they are being trained correctly by these people, I wonder how many have sustained injurys from the the things they were taught.

So are all these exercises still OK for me to do? Personally I'd assume it's fine, probably more beneficial than anything so long as I keep my orthotics in while training. But I don't know much about skeletal movement/alignment and I usually like to hear others oppinions on the matter.

The orthotics put your feet into neutral alignment, so theoretically that means any stress should be exactly where it's meant to be. This is good for your connective tissues and coordination as well as your muscles.

Probably many. However, the point is more that they make you play patty-cake instead of doing any real work, because they're in a great deal of irrational fear when it comes to injury. Instead of breaking you, they're far more likely just to take your money and do nothing for the privilege.
Worst still, they have the most unholy arrogance about what they do. If they were just incompetent it might be a little funnier.

Yeah, twas what I thought.
Those little things have saved me some major pain. They're bloody expensive, but worth every penny.

So they get paid to uphold an ego, and just give you an illusion you're working out.
Funny but not, at the same time.
Anyway, thanks again fbs for taking the time to reply and help me out, much appreciated.

Today's workout:
Axle 2-hands anyhow * lots of sets * some reps. Until I vomit blood, or thereabouts.

No dramas. He obviously occluded something before he fell over, might have forgotten to breathe. (Don't laugh, it happens.)
Falling straight backwards is much less dangerous than crumpling with the weight in the clean position. The bumper plates are much higher off the ground than a 14 year old's chest would be.

I shall start running soon. I really need to lose some flab.
Does anyone know if it's okay to run in military boots?
Edit: After a few minutes of searching, it is apparently advised against, but it also depends on the type of boot you have.

I have been thinking of getting back into excercising.... well, that's a lie. I wouldn't be going BACK into something that never existed in the first place.
Would any of you advise against the use of energy drinks as sort of a boost? Would there be any danger?
The excercising I had in mind wouldn't be all that hard for probably most of you but would be a push for me; just sit ups, push-ups, curls, maybe lift some weights, nothing massive, and it'd be all in my room which is a pretty open space, once I clean it up.

Coffee has less sugar, more caffeine and is cheaper. Caffeine tablets have no sugar, a fuckpile of caffeine and are even cheaper again.
That being said, you shouldn't need stimulants to do pushups.
