The girl I found out from said her mom and brother had just gotten over there and were headed to the embassy. She said the tube right by her house is closed. She said the windows were blown out of the bus, but there were no fatalities and that it was a nail bomb. Cell phones are shut off and the transits are closing all over that area. No one is supposed to go anywhere.
She due to go to another country the beginning of August and then back here. I hope she stays safe.

Hmm. A nail bomb? Just one nail bomb? I'm glad to hear that no one was hurt. It doesn't sound like a very well funded or organized attack, but at least it was caught. If the small attacks can be foiled then the bigger ones might also be easier to stop. Problem is that if you cry "wolf" to many times then people will not take you serious until it is to late. The media doesn't help the issue one bit most times. This could have been something that could have been fixed fast so people can go one living their normal lives, but I get the feeling the media is making it more then it seems. Fear is great for media ratings because people need to understand what is happening ( so they watch the news ) in order to feel secure.

News reports are saying that it was detonators that went off, whether they were attached to explosives that failed to blow is not clear. There are injuries, sadly.
If it was just detonators we coud be looking at copycat arseholes The kind of individual begging for psychiatric help! Or it could be a smaller group who have taken it upon themselves to join in and up the ante of terror.

The media does go over the top and take situations out of context with blanket coverage and speculation, it's a media hungry world and we crave information fast and need to be kept informed. I watched news couple days before and some young muslim who lives in London said that attacks is punishment for government actions. F..k!! I almost choked down. Heavens no. I know it's serious. They are trying to disrupt all of us. One advantage that England has over the US as far as attacks go, is they dealt with it on their grounds during WWII. That wasn't all that long ago. Granted the methods are different than back then, but US civilians have been so sheltered and taken it for granted for so long, I think there's more chaos here when something happens. I know that there was some civil defense training here because I found an information sheet about it that my grandparents had in an old desk drawer and there's still some buildings with fallout shelter signs on them. My old boss even had an underground shelter behind her house. But the majority my age and younger don't have any idea what it would really be like.

What must be remembered about these people is that they do not represent Muslims. If one is arrested they scream on about their Human Rights! (What they fail to realise is the with rights also comes responsibilities) So the government and the law go soft so as not to cause too much commotion!

No casualties, a few injuries from what I gather.
Turns out the bombs didn't explode, the detonators triggered but the explosive mixture was dud and failed to blow. I guess their bomb making expert will be gettin' a kicking for that!
It also means that the bombs were retreaved intact so they'll be able to harvest all kinds of forensics from them.

I was wondering about them twisting it to make the cops look like bad guys, but we'll have to wait and see. I hadn't heard if any other parts of the bombs had been found so it's good to know they have. Maybe they will be able to get more traceable info from them.

That was really bad.

There was a show on the other night with a top forensic investigator that was figuring out if a teenaged boy had actually been shot by a cop and they were figuring evidence as well as angles and stuff. Of course, I fell asleep before the end of it. It's some oriental guy. He's really good though.

And there was a standoff between a guy who had a couple of his own kids hostage and the cops. The older girl got away, but he used the baby as a human shield. He'd fired at police numerous times but at least one of their shots hit and killed the baby. The family members are furious, but what did they expect might happen? He could have shot the kid himself and they'd have blamed the cops for that, too, probably. It's being investigated. The chief said that there's a lot of the police that were there that feel horrible about the incident.
I wonder if the guy had a history and whether it was reported. If that's the case the family should be held responsible for not intervening. I havent' heard any more on that particular case.

My old man always says you can never make an omelette without breaking eggs. I know people slag the police but would you really want to be in that kind of situation where you have to make a split second decision like that? Knowing that if it goes tits up someone could die, you'll lose your job, or be prosecuted and have to live with that for the rest of your life? Was there some police camera footage of this situation L,B'XXX? I'm sure I've seen something like this?
I would say this guy had a history and finally some trigger made him snap, probably low key problems(or drug related?) that wouldn't be public knowledge or had made him known to the police, however you can't really arrest people because you think they might do something(unless it's the prevention of terrorism act or something). All criminals have a history either of escalating problems that finally make them snap or a slow progression through several crimes till eventual capture. Every serial killer in history was arrested or questioned with relation to their crimes at some point before their final arrest and prosecution often months or years later.

Far too many criminals are going to court claiming damages because they got injured during arrest when in actual fact had they not been breaking the law in the first place they'd be un-injured right now!!!!... oh and at liberty!
Some people are just too eager to shirk responsibility for their actions.

On the terrorist subject I see Egypt has been hit, looks to be as many as 60 dead from a car bomb outside a tourist hotel. Probably done to scare away western holiday makers and put locals off being involved in providing services to western vacationers. Early info seems to imply more Egyptians perished in the blast!

Well, there was video footage of the man with the baby and of the older girl escaping. The baby was about 14 months old from what I remember so it wasn't a tiny one. I agree it was a sad situation.
Mr. Lee is the detective I was referring to. There was no footage on that. He measured trajectories and found evidence that had been overlooked.

There's very few "malcontents" that don't have some type of prior offense, but sometimes it's kept within the family or at least unknown to anyone else so there is no outside knowledge or ongoing aid.

The girl I talked about that was near the explosions in London is supposed to leave for Egypt today for a few days. That's messed up. I couldn't believe when I heard that of all places to be hit. The world is getting smaller and scarier.
