How the hell am I supposed to rate how good I am? Some people think I'm great, a little weird, but I am a team player; while others just come off and say they hate the way I play. It is not about just me. It is not about just music in most good bands either. You have to bond and understand that people express themself with music. I like the way I play and no one else can easily copy my style.
I have to find people that I CAN play with. That I compliment. That compliment me. I'm flexable as hell but I like for people to know where MY style comes from. I put a huge amount of effort into understanding where others get ther music from, so I can learn how to play better music with them.
Fuck it! I'm to drunk to vote now. I'm nothing new to music but I have jammed with people that had only played a year and had a better vibe then with people that have played for 20 years. How?

my feet are the best in my school, no one can come close to my double bass skills, but my hands for how long I have been playting suck ass
however I can play along with Some morbid angel tracks and I can pull some Cryptopsy break downs so yeah I dunno, if I had better endurance I reckon I could pull some tech death stuff.

I play alright, but there's a lot of truth in what Souli' said. Not really having anyone around here to watch or jam with makes a difference. I picked up a few things here and there, but my playing bores me so I didn't that much for a long time. I'm trying to learn some new stuff now including more seriously reading tabs. I think the flexibility will be good for my hands also. And I've got a lot of lyrics that need attention and I'm a crappy melody writer so far. I'm hoping it helps.
Maybe when Bob comes home the next time I'll surprise him a little, too.

Nah, not all of it, I can play the intro, although those tom rolls are head to nail right, the difficult bit is when he starts doing Splits like this:
Tom *X*X*
Bass X*X*X
and he does them with a triplet fill, I can't quite do that, I can sometimes pull them, but not at those speeds, and the blasts are hard to do cause of my shitty endurance. if I was to try it, it would sound sloppy, and no where near as clean as pete.
althuogh I can play the VERY first bit and the VERY last bit....

I said good, just cause today's standards of metal require some of the most extreme guitar playing I've ever heard/seen. Jump back 30 yrs and yea, I can rock like the ages, but I just barely cut it for metal. Plus I'm pretty modest about my playing, I enjoy the inspiration of better players.

I mean in the scheme of things, im nowhere at all in guitaring. Look at where Jason Becker was, and things only improve. I dont really think that ill ever compare to what I listen to, unless i start listening to Good Charlotte (ROCK)

I can't imagine if today's techniques were around for some of the songs back in the 60's. I don't know if it would have been possible with all the trippin' going on. Laid back was more the style of the day than hyper-speed ---with exception, of course, but I can't think of any right now.

E-Honor... jesus, shit you still think I care about. I'm flawed, I know that. Everyone should. But I don't talk about my guitar playing. When people ask me if I'm any good, I always give them some bullshit emo sound reply like "i guess" or even "not really." Personally, I think I could write better riffs than half of this forum, judging by the "metal tabs rhythm guitarist" thread. Yup, there is some arrogance for you, and thats the most arrogant I've ever been and ever will be about my guitar playing.

Saying that....I think I'm damn good for the sound I prefer....which doesnt focus on speed. I bet you are too for the generes of music you enjoy.

I think my guitar prowess can be compared to that of Necrophobic's main axe man on the Nocturnal Silence. I am sure he is much better than myself, yet I feel my riff structures share alot in common with his.
I think I am better than alot of the music I listen to, however I do not really know what the guitarist is capalbe of outside the album. I am sure I would run circles around a guitarist like Euronymous back in the day. However, Demonaz is pretty good.
I think I'm pretty good, but not in comparison to Necrophagist style riffs. Sure I can learn how to play those, I just don't write that well.....yet.
I am the frontman of Midnight Empire, which is my band and I doubt any of you have ever hear us.

2.Is not the same to play themes where you fit better than other ones:TRy to play Paco de Lucia for example, and this poll will change completely(you´ll see your not a very good finger guitarrist) .
TOTAL:I think I´m a versatile guitar player, but I think I´m not that good.
Conclusion: "All" guitar players think that they can do better than the rest.(  ) |

Yea last night i got jacked up on crown last night and wrote this wierd harmonized in 3rds riff that was to hard for me too play. Its always good when you know your writing things that are to hard for you. Then you know your music can always get better. |
