Fellow Floridians:
Good luck with Hurricane Dennis, up to a Category 4 (Naples is projected to get hit tomorrow, already some tornado and flood warnings and such).
Anyone in the Panhandle is gonna get slammed.

We're seeing a few clouds up here that are leftovers from Cindy. Weird stuff.
God bless you guys and gals down south! Crank up those amps and blast that storm back to sea.
Time to dig out the old REO Speedwagon: Ridin' the Storm out
Best of luck to you.

Only the power of heavy metal can drive this storm back to the depths from which it came. Someone get Manowar on the horn, ASAP. Failing to acquire Manowar's services, I have a plan B- just grab some totally sweet guitars, play them really SUPER loud, and kicky fast. The storm will capitulate under the almighty force of your rock magic. Whip that llama's ass with a belt.
FEEL THE POWER OF ROCK AND ROLL!
^Be sure to chant this a few times^

Excuse me while I dress myself in chainmail, leather pants, and wrist bands, climb upon my roof and begin to shred (whilst doing some windmill headbanging to increase my brutal wind current of metal goodness)
Anyway, we're getting some outside bands now (aka about 70 mph winds and some heavy rain)
A state of emergency has been declaired here (because my town is full of old pussies and whiney bitches), so I can't reak havoc upon the town (not supposed to be outdoors). I feel the urge to drive to someone's house incase I lose power, I won't have to die of boredom, but driving through heavy rain at night isn't something I wanna do. Oh well, looks like tonight will be an internet/tv/guitar night for me.

Dickless here (Kalmah) was telling me him and his EXTREME! friends of his went surfing in the waves created by the Hurricane. Unfortunately, there is no moral to the story considering he made it out without dying, or learning a lesson. So go jump into a hurricane, kids!

Yea, last year I was in California for the hurricane that came through and tore Punta Gorda a new asshole (and hit Naples and Fort Myers). I was watching the news there and was like "Oh damn, my house is gonna be underwater when I get home." When power came back, my friend called me and said it wasn't even that bad.
Leave it to the news to blow everything out of proportion. (although Punta Gorda really did look like a disaster area after the storm, and in some areas still does)

Yeah, Disney had shit every fucking where when that hit. We got down there the day it hit. Shit was closing early and everything. They kept pushing when it was gonna hit back from about 6:30 to about 11:00. So we had to sit around and unpack and shit all fucking day.

Well, the old one is, but he just called a little while ago and said he won $150 so he's not going to cook and we're having pizza for supper. The other Dennis is OMG RIGHT BEHIND ME!!!!
I'd rather here it was bad and not have it be that then the other way around for your sakes down there.

Oh wow. I got my first radio when I was still riding a tricycle. How much time do you have?
Well, I told Tullie today that he should check out some C.S.N.&Y. so I'll start with them. The "Deja Vu" album is excellent. For C.S.and N. "Wasted on the Way" and "Southern Cross" are good. "Delta" has the most wonderful harmonies in it and the lyrics are so cool.
I'm very partial to Moody Blues, old Genesis (who were quite progressive back in the day), Jethro Tull, Alan Parsons Project. Some of their albums were concept types and a lot of the songs were good. If you want specifics, go ahead and pm me and I'll give you a few titles from each.
This is just a drop in the bucket. Let me know what you like and what you haven't heard much of and I'll tell you some others. I wasn't keen on Bobby Sherman or David Cassidy though.
If you've ever heard Everclear's song "AM Radio" I could relate to that song a lot!

Moody Blues-- Go Now, When You're a Free Man Again, Ride My See-Saw, Question, Higher and Higher (About Neil Armstrong landing on the moon), The Voice, Nights in White Satin (the long version)
Genesis --Anything off Trick of the Tail or Selling England By the Pound, but especially Ripples and Trick of the Tail off TOTT, Afterglow, Dodo Lurker
Jethro Tull -- Skating Away, Warchild, Broadsword and the Beast, Living in the Past, Thick as a Brick
Alan Parsons Project --Psychobabble, Time, Old and Wise, Eye in the Sky, Gemini, anything off Tales of Mystery and Imagination (they're Poe tales)
Might as well get Supertramp in this lot, too. --Anything from Crime of the Century or Breakfast in America, and the song From Now On
And all these have darn good lyrics, too.
We can talk more by pm if you like. Give me a holler anytime.

I live in Central Florida. We never get hit too hard.
Last year was an exception, though. It was the worst shit in 40 years or something. Some people had pretty bad damage, i.e. trees falling on cars and shit, we just lost power for a couple days and had some shingles torn off the roof. I've seen worse.

Of course its stupid. Although its better than them underestimating it, and it tearing the shit out of everywhere like Punta Gorda last year.
Going from our hotel to Downtown Disney, you could see that a sign was sheared clear off. from its cement supports. Fucking nuts that was.

hahaha. Sorry. Fan of the Beatles over here. I'm not such a fan of many of the bands you listed though. I'm more the straightforward classic rock person. I didn't get into Alan Parsons or anything.
Sorry if I don't make much sense. Just woke up.

Oh okay, like George Baker Selection, Donovan, Chicago, Mungo Jerry, Stampeders, old MJ and Donny Osmond, Steely Dan, and stuff like that?
I've only had about 4 hours of sleep since I was doing research on snakes and talking to Tullie-vox last night til way too late and then woke up this morning at 4 damn 30. For awhile I listened to the boxcars humping, but then a train went by, the traffic started up, the dawn chorus of birds began, and my stomach turned into Audrey saying "FEED ME I'M HUUNGRY." Plus last night I stayed up and watched an ATHF I hadn't seen, but it was worth it because I got to see how Adult Swim bitch-slapped the MTV VJ's for interrupting Pink Floyd when they were playing. That was awesome and my sentiments exactly. They should have been fired on the spot.

What about COLD WINDS OF VALHALLA!
I saw Ian Anderson live around here a few years ago, he and his band did a few tull songs, good stuff.
Whats the name of that Moody Blues song thats really trippy and all like "He'll take you high, he'll take you low, he knows exactly which way hes gonna go...TIMOTHY LEARY" something along the lines of that.

Tranny, you post too much.
Umm, the song is called "Legend of a Mind" and it's off In Search of the Lost Chord.
Tull's got a lot of good stuff. I'd like to see them sometime.
Sweet City Woman is cool. I had that 45rpm.
Some Genesis takes a little getting used to. Ripples and Trick are more "tradional" songs so I included them.
Strawbs is another band I just love. And if you're into King Crimson, Rick Wakeman played for them and some songs you can hear the same stuff in, but it's cool. They have a great variety like the Beatles did, but they have a lot of medieval sounding pieces which I like.

Tony Iommi did a short stint with Tull before his Sabbath days, didn't he also spend a bit of time with the Moody Blues or some members of??????
On another note....good to hear you Floridians got through the storm

That's interesting about Iommi. I've never seen his name come up with anything associated with MB, but it's possible. Some of those old bandsmen that were around in the 60's and early 70's played in each others bands sometimes.

one street in my area flooded really bad, it was kinda cool. Luckily it's a bullshit back street that is completely unnecessary, so it didnt really hurt anything. It did make for some kick ass times though.
Jet Skiing in flooded streets is SO metal.

We had flooded streets when we lived at the Harbor once. It was halfway up our front yard and the kids had a ball on the swings in the back. We got nightcrawlers about a foot long. the soil was really rich and wormy there anyways, but they were great if you got them before they drowned. But anyways my babysitter and her girlfriend rafted from her house about 3 streets from us to the one girl's grandmother's down the street from where I lived. And the river flooded so there was a lot of people going down around there to see it and some guy brought a hovercraft. It was pretty cool and some of the rapids were crazy compared to what the river usually is.

yeah it was a very incestuous scene around Birmingham at the time.
Tony played with Jethro Tull when they appeared in the Rolling Stones 'Rock n' Roll Circus' film. He actually left the fledgling Sabbath to join Tull (at Ian Anderson's request) but a short time later left Tull to work on Sabbath.
I could be wrong on the Moody Blues bit? But I know Tony plays in a bar band type thing with a British comedian called Jasper Carrot. Maybe the rest of the band are Moody Bluesers???

Well, I just saw them and I know the 2 flute players aren't original to the band. I don't even know if they were born when they were around in the 60's. But the rest of the guys I recognized.
When "Go Now" was out and popular might be when he played with them if he did. That was a whole other sound from them.

Iommi and Carrot's band's name is Belch. I haven't seen the Iommi/MB connection, but there's a lot of other cool stuff about some of the interaction of those old bands.
lol oh geez.... Florida topic! I just checked to see if I was at the RTT. Sorrryyy.
How's the weather down there?

Well, it's about 90 here, but the humidity isn't too bad. My poor little peppers are hanging their heads though so I'll have to water them.
Hopefully that cloud cover will break down there and that humidity will lift. I can't breathe when it's like that.
