Has anyone here who has been in a band ever went on tour or played out of state?

I've toured the world helping to killing people. I don't think it would be to much different though.

Sweet I would love to have that in my title. In another year I will make it so.
I think touring would be fun but a ton of work. I know it is not all drunk fun and women. Plus you will never get a second to yourself.

Hm, almost like the navy, just minus the "submariner's code" and plus tranny groupies (think "Rockstar." You know, where the chick pees standing up? Oh yeah.)

I can't wait till I tour with a band. But these dudes I'm with...Uuuhhhhh, they're soooo slow, I just wanna fucking gig, but we have to get some good rehersals in and we've only played 3 times together this whole summer.

lol, I'm afraid you might have confused me with the typical Sailor. Indeed I do drink, but female exploites are not my kind of... risk.
Navy does=work=fun. Fun can=fun that your shipmates never let you forget

Yup. most out of state lines (or province as we call it here) and hopefully soon some out of the country gigs. we want to do some small 2 week tour to germany/switersland/italy but it's hard to find time and it takes a lot of effort. arranging gigs isn't even the biggest problems, they're quite easy to find if you've got the right contacts.

It's not that we are ready, not by a long shot. But what do you think is the best wat to arrange for gigs in the Netherlands? I think something like bars or neigbourhood centre's, but i'm not to sure how to contact one of those

start out small, then build up.
when we started we formed out of people that had allready been in a band, most of them recorded cd's and went playing outta the province too. so that's five bands put together in one, with 5x the contacts... we had no trouble finding some gigs to play.
we recorded a MCD about a year ago when we started, we where picked up by a label (The Shield Recordings) and it was pressed 500x and we sold more then half of them (5 bucks a piece) so that gave us a nice profit. we've played in the Goudvishal now twice, with american, swedish and english bands, so we've gotten ourselves in the picture quite nicely, I guess.
If you have a demo or MCD, use that for promotion, first do local stuff for practise, you'll have a lot of friends in the audience so thats a nice way to get used to crowds. after a while find gigs out of your area, if you hit it off there, you know you're on the right track! Oh and grab every opportunity to play, UNLESS it's going to cost you money (travel, etc.) places should provide travel fees, free drinks and shit like that, at least make sure you won't LOSE money playing gigs...
