Finland and northern Sweden...
In about 10 days, me and my family are leaving for a trip up through Sweden and down through Finland. I'm wondering if anybody here happens to have any tips on things to see or do up there. I know we have quite a few finnish people on here, so I'm hoping somebody has some ideas.

Such a beautiful area of Europe!
Was going to go on my gap year but couldn't get enough money together
I second that festival but i guess its not really a family thing. There are a lot of lakes to go and see If possible go and take a look at helsinki.

Oh yeah and visit the Lake Bodom in Espoo. It's a place that every metalhead should visit. (take 3 your friends with you and sleep one night in a tent in the beach of Lake Bodom).

Can i just ask how come you are going to Finland/Sweden for holiday? It doesn't seem the usual place where people go (no offence to my scandinavian buddies on the forum) and is rather expensive compared to the rest of Europe. Not denying it is a beautiful area to visit just i thought families loved naked mediterranean women (yeah i spelt it wrong).

That festival would have been great. If the rest of my family liked metal, and if there were more than 2 bands I knew I like (Finntroll and Everygrey). But thanks for the suggestion.
The reason were going up there is that last year my family went around the southern part of the Baltic sea by car (I stayed at home to shag my (nowadays ex-) girlfriend), and now they want to "complete the circle", and go around the northern part too. We live in (southern) Sweden, so it's not going to be much more expensive than just staying at home.
Tranny, the Swedish sure as hell aint' gonna be no problem. The finnish though.... I can say "good evening", but that's all...
[Edit]
Come to think of it, I know more Chinese than Finnish...

and more heplful, even if you butcher their words just attempting them is a sign that you are trying and they wont blow you off as much as if your refused to speak their language. dont know if they have any stave churches there but, if they do go see them. they be churches but theyre still awsome and beatiful. hiking is a good idea too. go up in the mountains and see the scenery. go into the smaller towns if there happens to be a local show go see it and rock. just have fun and do as much as you can. you dont wanna come home going "aw shit I shoud have done that" you wanna go home saying "maybe I shouldnt have done that" haha
