most changed
who do you think is the most changed rock star?
il vote in Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman
the first one is about the Divine Intervention era, the other, Hell Awaits
on second thought, il just vote in Slayer as a whole

In Flames: Listen to Lunar Strain then Soundtrack to Your Escape, sounds like a totally different band
Katatonia: HUUUUGE change from Jhva Elohim Meth/Dance of December Souls to Viva Emptiness
Anathema: Another HUGE change
Ulver: Black Metal with classical guitar interludes to electronic music
Arcturus: "raw Black Metal" to the coolest experimental metal I've ever heard
Dark Suns: Opethish metal to Existence (not sure how to classify the album)
Suidakra: Awesome folky metal to back wash, recycled boring new age thrash
Primordial: Raw black metal to whatever they are today (they were never that good though)
And the list goes on...

Opeth always were an evolving band, to say they have changed is a bit silly, they were always like that.

Opeth? Shut up you transvestite.
Most changed? Although I don't listen to him: BURZUM. From hardcore Nazi Black Metal, to keyboard ambient.

Anytime anyone says anything about Opeth that you disagree with, your panties instantly wedge up your ass and you start crying. Here's an idea... accept other people's opinions.

But he doesn't have a livejournal account, so he has to cry about it here
Actualy, I love Opeth. And I do agree they are evolving. Can't be a progressive band if nothings progressing eh?

Burzum was never really "hardcore." More like weak and simple.

No, I'm fine with Opeth bashing as long as its warranted. But the question is "most changed," not who changed a little bit, or evolved into a better band.

How have they evolved? Besides getting better, and writing more structured songs, I do not see them doing much that they didn't back in the day.

I beg to differ. Clearly, listen to Orchid, Morningrise and MAYH, then listen to Deliverance and Blackwaterpark. Very Different. And have you heard the new song yet? Thats also very different.
I do agree that Opeth's poppularity didn't give the guys some rockstar attitude. I'm realy thankfull for that.

True but then on the early stuff, they still had that opeth sound, Extreme metal and HUGE jazz influences etc. they were always like that, yeah they have changed a little bit, but every band does, this isn't like a complete change of sound like some bands, like Sell-outt-ica (metallica) now THERE is a band that has changed, opeth have not changes in anywhere near the same degree.

I agree with NZ Drummer, Opeth have changed quite a bit, but it hasn't been for the worst.
