problem...
okay, I want to move out of the house for personal reasons I have with my dad. I work at the moment and I don't make much money 'cause I'm not highly educated. I wanna move out and than go back to school. But is it affordable when you're 18 to move out ? I really don't wanna stay home. The situation really fucks me up And I'm stuck...
An other thing is. How much money do you need if so. I'm willing to sell ALL my guitar stuff. I'm desperate.
Sorry if this thread makes no sense. But maybe someone has good suggestions which will help me out.

are you not doing any studies at the moment?
in that case, it's much harder. See, you get about 250 euro's a month if you move out during your study, if you're at home it's only 70 (you know, study-financing, government shit, IB-groep)
a rented room will set you back around 2-300 euro's a month, if you want a pretty basic room in Utrecht or the surrounding area. Plus you need food and shit, thats another 200 euro's sharp.
it can be done if you work full-time, if you write-in at your county you can get cheaper living space and 'huursubsidie' so the government pays you a bit of cash every month to help you out.
In your case, the best thing is to move to some friend's place or maybe even family untill the whole shitstorm stops.
hope that helped, good luck man.

well not being from holland I have no clue on the money situation, how much is school? how much does rent usually cost? your best bet is to move in with some buds of yours so you can split the rent/bills so its not such a strain on you. I wouldnt sell your gear it may help now with the bills of moving out but then what about when that moneys gone? youll still need to pay the bills and wont have anything to pawn.
im sure you have tried but sit down with your father and try and work out the problem, one of the worst things you can do is have a fued with family that splits you up and hold a grudge forever.

what I did, I rented another 200 euries at the IB-groep. Low %, you have 4 years after your studies to begin paying, and if you get in trouble they might even drop the whole thing
When I get a nice job later on, I can easily pay for it.

its really not affordable to move out unless ure with some1 else, therefore u can split ure money earnt, half to rent, half to food etc.
I m kind of in the same boat as you, seemin that i m 18 and i really want to move out and get away, but i just dont have the funds, so what i m going to do is work my ass off over the summer, hopefully get into to uni, get a grant and then i ll stay with my bro.

Living on my own is almost twice as expensive as I planned on paper when all was safe and cozy living with my sister.
However, it's very empowering and even the small hardships are worth the struggle.
I'm going on 6 months by myself now.
My best help...learn to eat VERY cheap.
My best friend still lives at home but does her own thing which includes spending on average around 140.00 a week by dining out for most of her meals.
I live on about 30 dollars a week on food....sometimes 20.

Sure...I'll hook us up a pot of Chef Boyardee Ravioli (2.00) and make some homemade garlic bread (less than 1.00) and a Coca Cola (24cans for 5.00) unless you want a few of the beers in my fridge that my friends are always leaving over.
Then we'll jam for a while....log on to Metal Tabs and fuck with BLS about the crush he has on you.....should be quite fun.

Late teens is typical independence age for most kids. Some leave and go back home after a time because they're starving to death like one of mine did after his roommates ran off with the rent unpaid. The land lord knew who the problem was but since they couldnt' make the full payment he had to toss them out. And I'll tell you the honest to goodness truth, when he walked into the house I asked him what he wanted becasue I didn't even recognize him. Be careful who you're rooming with.
You can probably eat pretty cheap, but make sure you're eating healthy, too. If you're working and going to school you're going to need to keep your brain in shape as well as your nerves. It can be horribly stressful at times. I don't think I could have ever done it, but lots of people do.

I really hope you can get things worked out with your dad. I dont' know your situation and it's not my business, but if it's just a clash of horns then really step back and see what battles are really necessary and which you can blow off. It took me many years to learn to keep my mouth shut and just do what I needed to do without provoking further confrontation.

I don't know if food is really cheap here, maybe it's expensive in Europe. I'm only taking 30 dollars with me next week, and I'm not spending more than $20 on food for the week. I might grab a box of cereal from the house before I go, though, but still. It's not that hard to eat cheap when there are things like rice, ramen noodles, and tuna.

Oh, the life of a fitness nazi. I spend more every week on supplements than you clowns spend on food. You poor people would hurl if you knew what I spent on food...
If you have to move out, move out and get on with your life. Make it work. Nearly everyone staarts of flatting with other people, because it's fucking expensive. Spend a good goddamn long time finding out whether or not you're moving in with cretins - a bad flatmate is like a boiling tar colonic.
Looks like you'll need to be working more to pay bond etc.

nonresidential zoned loft space, im telling you, alot cheaper than a apartment, the first place i lived in away from my parents house was an a-frame artist space which was something like 1500 sq feet 650$<which is cheap as hell>, the place i live in now is 2400 sq feet<was 850$ for 3 years now 950$, split with 4 people> i dont know the netherlands, never been to europe, but if you got alot of textile mills over there, check them out
other than that maybe get a place with friends, ive had some nightmare scenarios tho, just be careful who you live with,be very careful, i lived with people who cause 6,000$ in damage to a house, skipped town before felony warrants were issued to the signed tenents,a police investigation ensued. of course my name was mentioned and i had to roll down the police station and deal with shit, not fun.

Exactly.
Ramen noodles are 5 packs for 1.00
Med frozen pizza (store brand)... 1.99
Canned Ravioli... 1.29
A quick prep pasta and cheese side dish can serve as a meal by itself and is 1.99
I love expensive cuts of beef...or a lavish 4 course meal, however it's simply a matter of lowering your standards as a sacrifice for other things.

well, you can eat pretty cheap but on a weekly basis I don't spend less then 30 a week on food though, but that's pretty do-able! (means, I'm not starving)

I was thinking that, too. To eat healthy it takes more that than for one person. I suppose if you eat like a bird it's okay, but it'll catch up with you after while. When we served Chef Boy-r-dee at the Home, we had to add ground beef to it to make it even nutritional. We'd get bitched at if we didn't because it wasn't considered a healthy entre. You need dairy, fruits and vegies, and some complex carbs to not puke out after awhile.
Do you get your suppliments online, fbs? I've been getting plain ole whey powder without all the bs in it at the health food store and mixing my own dark cocoa and other stuff in it. I add very little sugar and it tastes good.

I buy unflavoured protein in bulk and online. Last time I bought 25kgs - no joke.
I buy flavoured proteins, multis/vitamins, fish oils, sugars, creatine etc. from a local sports supplements store.
If you can flavour your own protein and make it taste good, I am significantly impressed.

One of the guys I worked with was a a fitness type guy - he was eating half a chicken most days - in the 'lunch' meal that was eaten at work (at 11pm)

I get the darkest cocoa powder I can find because it has the most antioxidants in it. It's kind of strong so sometimes I'll cut it with some dutch cocoa powder, but not much. I use nonfat dairy creamer, whey powder (I think this is dairy and not soy), and a very small amount of sugar-- either confectionary or regular since I don't go for the artificial crap. It tastes about like hot chocolate or chocolate milk depending on whether it's hot or cold and sometimes I'll use 1% or skim milk if I have it. I add it to my coffee sometimes--it's low power because the doc said to cut caffeine. I really should write exact amounts sometime and figure out the nutrition info on it.
bodybuilding. com is where Bob gets most of his stuff, but I found a site that has the stuff without the additives and told him about that. If you're interested I can look it up for you.

I guess I'm gonna start saving up to move out to Rotterdam. I went to the HEAO last year. That's a "higher economics school". but I'm gonna save up now. and go back to school next year. The problem I have with my dad goes way back and it's always been like it. It's gotten to a point where I don't feel safe at home. I don't want that anymore. I guess i'm gonna live cheap for 4 years . After i finish school i'll have a decent job.
But thanks for all the info
