Programs to design avatars

Anyone know of any programs that I could design avatars with? I'm looking to take a short video segment, and make an avatar out of it...

Jasc Animation Shop 3

[edit]
Download it with paint shop pro 3/4. Open the file, choose the frames you wish, make any necessary tweaks. Simple as.

if its a pre-recorded dvd, you need special software. called a ripper i think.

or you could print screen a couple of times

A lot of screen cap programs don't work with video. You need something to take frames. I don't know why you'd be bothered with the hassle, quite frankly.

Where's Bia when you need her?

Anyways, I'm interested in making a new avatar too. Even though I'm probably the only guy here who used himself in his avatar.

Heh...cool

I use a prog called Virtual Dub.
It will not take screen caps from DVDs but will on most other PC file types...mpeg, mov, avi, ram, rar

Here's a silly one I recently made...

Thanks Bia. I'll look into that one. In the meantime, smoke some knots for me.

You'll need a DVD ripper for dvd's, it's a bitch sometimes finding the part of the film you need but I use Super DVD Ripper. The whole installation file is small enough to fit on a floppy, which is handy for downloading it....

I forgot to mention...
The prog I mentioned only lets you do screencaps one frame at a time.
I have paintshop open at the same time so I can crop each desired image....and then save them as gif files and name them in order.
Then I have to use a prog called Movies12 and it joins and creates the avatar itself and also has many options like text...resize...duplicate...etc
