I don't understand one thing...once your in a room, how do you find out which people have songs you want. Someone help me out here....

DC++. This is the only advice about Soulseek you'll ever need. SARS was right- I know it's tough to believe that a thread about a computer program wouldn't belong in the BANDS forum, but that's just the crazy way things work around here.

Soulseek sucks t3h ballz0rz.
1) You can't easily download a file from a different source
2) Searching is t3h gheyist
3) I abhor being in a que at pos. 1246 for a phile that only 1 person is cool enough to share, then if you start it, you have to wait weeks to finish it.
4) DC++: T3h room i reside in: Current sharesize is: 28.74 TiB, Current user count: 765
5) DC++ = less l33ch0rz: you have far more chance of phinding a phile

There is nothing wrong with souseek. Don't go into a room, press the 'search' button. You know. It's not hard.
Open up Soulseek, press search, type the search keywords, download the results. If you have a compelling need to go to a chat room for no reason, right click on someones name and press 'Browse Files'.

Once in the room, at the top of the screen, where stuff like 'file' and other drop-down menus are, there will be a 'chatroom' drop-down menu. On that menu there is a 'search for files in room' option. |

yeah, my userlist is made of something like 80 people, each sharing an average of 4,000 files. i haven't even spoken to half of them and they still let me download all i want. on the other hand, i have no upload restrictions, so anyone can download from me at any time. |

It doesn't matter anyway, soulseek kind of blows, all the things I've tried to download have been "remotely qued" and that didn't change after about 10 minutes. I think Im gonna try DC++.

god damn. Soulseek, now i remember why i got rid of it. I was looking for a track off the Dead cd by Obituary to see if it was any good. Even on my cable modem, Cause of Death Live took about 40 minutes to download, and the other user had a connection just as fast as mine. THen there was this one dude, i tried to download off of him, i didnt know, the download cancelled, and i messenged the user, he told me to ask him before i download off of him. Hell, i didnt know, i just typed in a song on Search. I downloaded it anyway wiht his consent, but fuck...
is DC++ better?

Im gonna find out when I can I geuss. Limewire is fine for casual death metal alot of times, but its hard to find underground stuff on there. Thats why I want to try something different, people always claim to get underground stuff off souseek and dc++.

Eh, I phrased it wierdly and wrongly, I mean stuff that you could find on amazon .com, but they have a fairly decent death metal selection, which is why limewire is mostly alright for me. Yeah, there is alot of thrash, it is good for that also. |
