Army Admits It Lied About Death of Pat Tillman
Pat Tillman – Hailed an American hero, was the professional football player who quit the NFL to fight in Afghanistan. At the time the Army reported he died after being hit by enemy fire in a dramatic battle. According to a new Army report -- the first Army investigator who looked into Tillman’s death found within days that he was killed by his fellow Army Rangers in an act of "gross negligence.” However Army officials decided not to inform Tillman's family or the public. Findings also show that officers destroyed critical evidence and initially concealed the truth from Tillman's brother who was also an Army Ranger in Afghanistan.

A while ago, in other circumstances, I was bollocked for saying the following - GI Joe Heropants Ranger Tillman was an idiot and died an idiot's death. It was a good bollocking, many Americans whinged at me like colicky red, white and blue babies. Good. Fuck 'em. I couldn't get past the idea that a man with such obvious talent was so swayed by pernicious and stupid patriotism he signed up for, of all things, the Army.

The fact that he died due to gross negligence and not a blaze of glory, and then the Army their little cammie rectums off about it, makes it both worse and better. If you see what I mean.

No, what's even worse is that of all the US troops that have died, he gets to be picked out and be looked at as the ultimate true hero or some shit.

I totaly appreciate what he did...and wont judge his motivation for service....but it's the lies.....the endless lies and then the way the lies are treated by those that support the liars..... makes no sense.

Yeah thats true. I dont remember the name of that girl in Iraq who was taken hostage, but she was hailed a hero because her platoon squadron surrendered without a fight to Iraqi soldiers in the first year of the hunt for oil. . Her platoon and her surrendered woithout putting up a fight, she was rescued, and she got a book and a made-for-tv movie about the HELL she was through. Yes, I understand it must be terrible to be a female POW, what not with soldiers that probably havent gotten any in a while watching you.

I hate to see things like that happen but they do. No one wants to hear that there son or daughter has died in an accident. People are only heros in the eyes of others. Not many heros try to be a hero. Other people make them heros because that is the way they want to see them, while others don't. We all die someday. Make your life count for something.

It doesn't matter to all those died warriors. Death is beyond our understanding. You accept that it is going to happen is all. It is hard to describe but you just don't really care. Your family will care though.
