You know....I did this same thread long ago on a diff BBS forum and let me say...it got real nasty real fast.
It seemed to turn into a pissing contest quickly.

My fathers brother in law worked for the Duval School Board Of Education here in Jax when I was little and my mother took me to their guidance dept. for testing.
I remember the test well and at the time was fun and challenging.
(her wish was I was a phenominal genius and would somehow skip 2 or 3 grades)

Well...it was impressive, but not enough to skip grades.
I know what mine is from their official testing but am going to likely pass on divuldging it......last time I did.....I seemed to instantly gain a few enemies.
I have always jokingly refered to myself as an uneducated genius.
I spell horribly and have little proper written grammar.
I did well in the garbage school system here but learned more from my father in any given month than I ever did in an entire year of screwell (school)

There are generally different varieties of I.Q. tests, with different score ranges and curriculae. The test that I took, 140 was the highest score available to the test taker ( It was an adult I.Q. test too, and I was 16 at the time ), other people may take tests in which 200 or higher is the score limit. My test was based on vocabulary, literary comprehension and visio spacial perception, etc. If my test had included mathematical equations I would have scored far lower, but of course the test was geared for measuring the potential of an literary focal, not a mathematician. My test was derived to me from a personality test based off of a 260 question long examination. This is basically procedure.

It has to be much, much higher than that Soulinsane ... that's borderline "mentally retarded". Either that or you did'nt try.

I have taken a few of them before and they all come out about the same. In college while in psychology class I took one that lasted nearly an hour and parts of it was timed too. It was supossed to be the one that most pyschologist use and accurate within +/- 5 points. I have always been a fast learner and that is what a IQ test measures. Learning ability. It is no gauge of how smart, how well they spell, how well they play music, or how much a person knows. I score in the 150's on most test and I am proud of that but I don't feel very smart. I'm just a good test taker.

I remember taking an I.Q. test in high school. My score was 127, but that was a couple of years ago. I guess I should update my I.Q. score but I'm too lazy and I'm fine with 127.

These results are sounding fishy, given the average is 100... Not everyone here can be a genious, surely.

The online ones always are really high - I took one once and got 150 odd, I took the 'test the nation' TV test last year and got 115 or something, which I think was more realistic, but it had really stupid questions where you had to recognize a celebrity with a distorted face. Unless you do one with a psychologist like John Holland, I doubt it's accurate.

EXACTLY.....online tests are for the masses of dolts on the planet.
(NOT a dig at you all that took one) but they are geared simple and for a whole other purpose.....to get you on lists and to buy shit.

I took 3 online IQ tests a year or so ago and got 3 diff scores with a variance of over 40 pts. All in the same afternoon. Highly unreliable.

The one I took as a child for the school admin was the "Sanford Binet" IQ test which is prob the most widely used and accepted.

131 when i'm sober, 179 when i'm shrooming.

I concur with the speculation that the listed results are from inacurate testing. Given that an IQ has an average/median of 100 and a standard deviation of 15, 66% of people should be between 85 and 115, 95% of people should be between 70 and 130 and 99.7% opf people should be between 55 and 145. The average result of given scores is above this.

On the online test i took, i got somewhere in the region of 180. When i took one years and years ago (some kind of computer program in about 1995 - im fairly sure that it would be more accurate than a html based one, expecially goven that there were about 100 questions to do in 60 minutes) i scored about 140.

One thing I have always noticed was that metalheads seem to have higher than average IQs or just below average if you're one of the Nu-metalhead flavors. No joke. Why?

1. They're so unscientific they make me want to wear a floral print dress and cry. Where do you think those categories come from? "Visual/spatial ability"? "Mechanical aptitude"? "

What ARE these things? Well, here's their dirty secret. They aren't anything. We can't make any process which we create correlate to any kind of ability, because there's no physical process we can measure to determine it. What IS "mechanical aptitude"? Don't wait up for an answer, we don't have one.

The first thing they told me in intelligence testing was "Intelligence tests measure what intelligence tests test." Seriously. The worst use of circuitous logic since the "what's brown and sticky? a stick!" joke.

2. The whole idea operates on a dreadfully outmoded picture of the human mind. It's too much to explain here, suffice to say IQ tests are essentially a Newtonian conception of ability, and the brain is a ridiculously non-linear system. The two are totally antithetical. Like metaltabs and male maturity.

3. To compare different scores, different tests and different analyses, you need to use forms of comparative statistics which are about as much fun as cornholing a retarded gibbon with dubious personal hygiene. And again, about as scientific.

4. The IQ fagdance! What you're all doing now! Knock it off, no-one thinks you're clever. Half of you can't spell properly anyway, I don't know who you think you're fooling. Anyway, all the tests you've done were different - any stupid nancy with a psych degree and an eye for opportunity can create a web-based test which is allegedly an 'IQ test'. So all your scores mean precisely dick in comparison to each other.

I've done several of the little bastards. I score best on timed tests and on those which test several different modalities at once rather than huge clogs of the same material. I'm not telling you the scores - suffice to say, they were all different.

This is a fact... Stupid people are incapable of comprehending complex music. Anyone who understands complex music but scores low on an IQ test simply didn't pay attention in class. These tests are basically societal trivia and no one is born knowing this shit. Most lawyers and doctors don't listen to complex music because most of them are in fact retarded and are just joyriding the coat tails of the people who pioneered their fields.

One of the techs at my last job talked me into taking one of those online IQ tests. I got a 147, but I have to say that the test was totally gay regardless of the fact that they called me a "visionary philosopher", which was nice, but I should have scored much higher...

when you take the test on the site given, you get e-mailed your number score, you have to pay for the complete breakdown of what exactly the score means, why you scored the way you did, etc.

I've scored loads of different results from 50 up to 168. the more extreme values were shorter tests with more general knowledge questions. i also scored over 200 on one that I found, I got excited emails telling me I was in the top 0.005% and that I should get a certificate to say so, along with membership to some mensa-like organisation. and all it cost was $199.99.
I think that was a different kind of intelligence test.

my test was from a psychologist. he asked me a bunch of dumb math questions at first, then i took a really short written thing with a bunch of language questions. then the guy showed me a picture of something and i had to build it with these stupid blocks. then there was some other stuff that i dont remember, then at the end he was like "well, thats all for the actual test, but i want to keep going for my own purposes if you dont mind". so we did some ink blot shit and then it was done. took the same test 3 times. first score was 164, second was 161, third was 163

I didnt get a preliminary test but remember the block puzzles well....did several and was timed. Also remember some maps and questions about direction...landmarks...logical routes etc.
I dont remember doing inkblots but do remember it was all oral and the tester did all the marking. It was two older women giving the test...they both were very nice and made it seem like great fun and I too was kinda disapointed when it ended.
They both worked for the guidance dept for the school board so I have no clue as to their credentials.

There are many different kind of IQ tests, but this is my favorite as it is the most thorough. Unfortunately, there are several forms of intelligence that aren't very easy to gauge through tests and are therefore ignored.

Interestingly enough, my sociology teacher told us we were going to take an IQ test. After being excited about it for a few weeks, we finally get it. The fucker gave us this multiple choice test that was all about things that stereotypically only a black person would get. It definitely didn't seem like a proper IQ test, but his point was noted. These tests are biased. People who grow up under the same conditions as myself usually have trouble taking standardized tests because the questions are biased. It makes me feel that much better to know how well I excel on such tests.

Getting back to the test for a second, there was this one question that kicked ass-
What is the African-American version of the US national anthem?

It was great. It listed two black folk songs, one blues song, and America the Beautiful. I was talking with some friends about the test after class and I couldn't help chuckling because they all picked one of the folk songs. Goofballs. I'm damn near 100% sure he's going to bring that up next class.

ah fuck IQ tests all together, I took one before I got into uni and scored pretty high but it doesn't tell you everything about global intelligence, there's EQ and SQ too, plus it's all pure scientific.

honestly, I don't do shit for my study, I should do more but I'm not very motivated, there's retards in my class getting way higher marks because they learn their ass off, I'm fine with that as long as I make the year. I'm socially smart but that's about it, I suck at maths, science, biology, you name it, the only things I'm good at are languages, economics and managment.

The test you took was probably the wisc 3 it was designed to identify emotional problems that might interfere with learning. I got a 127. anything from 85 to 115 is normal. Then from 116 to 120 is above average. anything from 121 on is in the superior range. But iq does not determine how much you know, it is how well you are able to take in information. So i guess it doesnt really matter.
