Hobbies
What do you guys do other than play an instrument? I don't mean like "Oh yeah I hang out with friends on weekends and stuff". I mean what are you're other interests? I collect memorabelia and stuff from my favourite things, whether it be computer games or movies and stuff. I like creating, so I'm always pretty active recording bullshit and coming up with projects to do with friends ad stuff... Actually I havn't done that for a small while but yeah that what I like doing.
What about you guys?

Really? Awesome on both you're posts...
Fat -
Juggling is cool, I used to be able to juggle 3 balls and me and a mate acn juggle stuff between us. Dude where I live in Australia there is no snow in the middle [which is where I live] it's supposed to be like autumn now but it's still getting to 35oC weather...
Fear -
Dude it would be awesome to see you're A&P collection! I have an action figure of Predator but it got fucked up in my last move [I've moved about 14 times in 15 years]. I couldn't believe it.
I collect Evangelion stuff, Mortal Kombat, Marathon... I'd like to collect some Alien and Predator stuff too. Dude you should put some comics in the comic thread

drinking beer is my favorite past-time!
other things I enjoy is playing a game of pool, I might compete in the NK pool 2005 in Utrecht, been playing for a while now...
another hobby of mine is driving motorcycles, touring, just hanging out with friends on bikes, see the country, go on holiday, that shit. also I enjoy restoring old honda bikes (pré 80's)
snowboarding is cool too, I've been doing that since I was 14, so thats allmost uh, 8 years of experience right there! It's been a while though since I've been boarding...
and ofcourse theres the ever 'hanging out with friends' hobby.. I do that a LOT mostly in Utrecht, the city I study in, loads of good pubs and clubs over there.

Haha, I hang out with friends rarely but I always find something to do with them when we do hang out. I play a bit of 8 ball also, I got my own cue, and it's great that my mum works at 2 different pubs so everyone knows who I am, I can go at anytime [well you can do that anyway but I'm underage ]

I'll try and get some pics, I've even got my own table
why do you rarely hang out with friends?? I guess 40% of the time in the week I'm hanging out, 40% is school and the other 20% is just beeing at my crib, watching tarantino movies, drinking beer and posting on metaltabs, haha

I am not verry exciting, I spend most of my spare time playing computer games, e.g. I bought "The Punisher" yesterday, and finished it toady.
Though I am known to kill books when I find a good one.
I am hoping t get into some PRGing in the near future too, I bought a couple of WoD books, though I am yet to read them.

1. Jack Halligan 2 piece with a case, signed by him It's leather and some sort of velvety lining
2. Without sounding emo at all, I only really have 2 friends I ever do anything with, and I'm not really very good friends with them anyway. I'll tag along with the whole group sometimes when they all go out to socialize or something, or I'll have either one of them over for a night or something. But one of them is a fuckhead that's a lying backstabber [but he shares my interests], the other is a good guy but he's crazy about sport and always playing it hahaha, on weekends and shit.
I used to play sport, Basketball, Baseball...

WoD books? I have some RPG type books and they rule, Pool of Radience, And.... hmm let me find them............ Argh, I can only find Pool of Radience, but I have others... They are 'Forgotten Realms' books. Good books they are. Also, I have this series 'The Edge Chronicles'. They are awesome books. It's fantasy like RPG but not really it.

They are story type books aren't they?
Im talking about the really nerdy RPG where you make shit up youselves and sit in a room with all your nerdy friends and play it, with dice and whatnot.
Those 'Forgotten Realms' ones are based on the wizards rules, that is, the typical DnD that everybody thinks about when they hear the phrase. WoD stands for World of Darkness, it is different in that it is based (mostly - there are some variations) in the the present, its basically a horror thing, as you play characters that are vampires or werewolves or things like that. I have only read the summary thus far - and it seems that it will be simpler than the DnD rules too, and more based around mystery and stories, rather than rolling various dice all the time.
If you care to read further, more information can be found here: http://www.white-wolf.com/ .
The books that i have are the core rule book, and the one about werewolves.

Haha I used to collect Star Wars memorabilia, but now I've got all the shit I wanted, I've stopped. I'm not a complete nerd of it though, i've only got a few things:
+ SW Stormtrooper Helmet (cast from the original moulds from ANH)
+ Don Post Tie Fighter Pilot Helmet
+ MR Darth Vader "Force FX" Lightsaber
+ MR Darth Maul Replica Lightsaber Limited Edition
I do European Martial Arts as well, particularly 15th century Italian swordfighting techniques (Fiore di Battaglia), also included is wrestling, dagger, and pole-axe.
Under this, I also collect (and use) various replicas of European 15th century arms and armour (I also collect Viking age replicas).
Apart from that, I just work out, spend time on the PC, read, smoke, drink, go to school, study, and play computer games.

Is Iceland very mountainous?
This is more of a love than a hobby, but backpacking. You could say I damn near live for it. Nature is supreme.
Reading books, mostly fantasy, sci-fi, and interesting non-fiction. Trying to write a few books, too.
Anything involving music.
Bike riding.
Gaming, although I was more of a gaming buff years ago. Now I finish a game every month or two.
Sleeping.

Don't read the ending of the series, the last few pages of the last book. I had thought of the book as a 9/10 or so, and that went down to 5/10 after reading the ending, which King tells you NOT to do -because he doesn't have imagination enough to make a good ending.

The usual:
- Sending deaththreats to celebreties.
- Sending letter-bombs to random people.
- Laughing at the obituary-page and sending "congratulations"-cards to the relatives.

You forgot:
- Going to Hollywood parties, farting next to celebrities, and then blaming it on them. (Trey Parker and Matt Stone used to do this).
- Manually masturbating caged animals for artificial insemination
Personally, I generally follow the Scarface hobby list:
- Eating
- Sleeping
- Fucking
- Sucking
I augment the basic hobbies with:
- Guitar playing
- Pool playing
- MacGyver type projects
- Fletch type shenanigans
- Movies/TV/Books/Video Games/etc...
- Semi-Annual golf games with three other assholes drinking tequila, yelling randomly, and paraphrasing Caddyshack and Happy Gilmore lines.

i dont do much at all. this thread made me realize that.
and i am going to mention the instruments just for the schedule purpose.
weekdays: i work from 8 to 5, get home, shower, watch tv and play guitar. Or play keyboard without tv when i feel like it. This is what usually happens on a normal day. Sometimes other stuff happens.
weekends: buy a bottle on friday, have friends over or drink alone, go out to eat, repeat this on saturday.
That is the main schedule for me. Not many hobbies there huh. Guess i dont enjoy too many things. If only that girl had gone out with me

heh, thats what my friend just said a while ago. but lots of people might say that. anyway, i dont really care that much, im not fucking moping around, but it does suck a little to imagine what could have been.
oh, and i left computer out of my last post by accident. I also play guitar at the computer, like manowar said he does.
...and i used to skateboard a lot. 4 years. i was pretty good, just started getting handrails and BIG gaps down. fuck that though, i quit for music and my wrists. my wrists were alawys in pain. plus skateboarding wasnt going anywhere, and it never will for most people. music, on the other hand, has so many more options and possibilities.

Basically besides guitar and band practice, the only other hobby I have is restoring/hot rodding AMC cars. If you don't know what they are, AMC was an American car company, made Ramblers, Gremlins, Eagles and Pacers (the Mirthmobile). They went out of business in 1988. I'm restoring a '66 AMC Marlin right now, it's like a Rambler fastback with a 270 horsepower 327 V8, buckets and console shift. Red with black roof and trunk. Also was going to hot rod a '73 AMC Matador 2-door, but may sell it to have more $$ to spend on the Marlin and guitar stuff. I'm into these cars hardcore, even drive an '88 Eagle wagon (4 wheel drive ) daily...
Other than that, all I do is work. I do go on the computer a lot in my spare time.

Holy fucking christ John. You need to re-focus that energy on guitar bro. If you read one book a day you will become Ken Jennings. If you play that much guitar every day you will become Randy Rhoads. If you end up becoming Ken Jennings, then please make your 2.5 million dollars on Jeopardy and then use that money to become Randy Rhoads because he's way better than Ken Jennings...

On the contrary ... I spend about 45 min. a day reading. Because I can read at nearly 1,500 words a minute.
But I'm still going to become Randy Rhoads

1,500 word a minute? do you actually enjoy reading at that speed? and do you actually remember what you read? when i read mythology or fictional junk i go thru it quick<not nearly like 1500 words per minute, im talking like 40-50 pages taking me an hour an a half/2 hours or so>because it has no undertones of symbolism, theres nothing beneath the fine print to ponder. but when i read history that deals with archealogic analysis the content becomes dense so i read it very slowly to digest the chronology and to remember the names and places and dates stated, so i have to ask, does every book you speed-read take about the same time to complete no matter what it is? i for the most part read slowly when i comes to different kinds of books, history, philosophy, highly metaphoric and stylized writing

I draw, go on the computer, listen to music, play guitar, laugh and make fun of people with my friend Abby, read webcomics with Stephanie, and laugh at Stephanie's obsession with Diablo.

I remember what I read, better than reading at 3-500 words per minute ( average speed ) . And I do enjoy it more, everything is much more lucid. Some books ( quantum physics for example ) require a bit more time, but on averge it takes me 45 minutes to read a book.

I don't really have time for hobbies due to my involvement with my work and study towards gaining Chartered status as an accountant. But I make the time once a week to play pool with my local's pool team (I'm the treasurer). Other than that and a couple of hours of guitar per week I'm completely consumed by my career for the time being.
In two-and-a-half years my curricular activity will have calmed down and I'll be able to concentrate on living again. I'd like to learn another language, probably Spanish (which I already have a decent grounding in), and I wouldn't mind being a more active amateur mathematician. I still haven't signed up to the institute of mathematicians despite being eligible (due to my degree) so maybe that's another avenue for me to explore.
I also wouldn't mind enrolling to do another degree on a part-time basis. The final year of my mathematics degree really opened up my eyes to a lot of interesting theories in the physical world so a mathematical physics degree would be good. However, my main hobby is the guitar and thus any other hobbies that I take up will be to the detriment of the time I spend practising so I'm not sure as to the likelihood of me branching out in hobbying sense.

I have no idea what my reading speed is, but I like to read at a delicate pace to sponge everything thoroughly and make the experience more surreal.

I don't read to fast because what I read for enjoyment is philosophy and things on theoretical physics (I fucking hate mechanics) so I'm used to reading at a slow pace in order to take everything thing and thing about it. Sadly, this usualy transfers over into read pieces for my AP Lang and Comp course and I should be reading this stuff much faster so I have to make a councious effort to read quicker.

Holy fuck. Thats rather quick.
When i read, I usually go through about 30 pages in 45 minutes, but then again sometimes I go alot slower if i don't understand something, as I will read it over and over untill I am finished.
Then again your "I finish a book in 45 minutes" statement is somewhat ambiguious as I can finish some books in less than 10 minutes, other books it takes me a few weeks.

I'll be darned. What I thought was a plant stem in a rock I found was the spinal thing in your picture! Cool. There was a bunch of arrowheads found on my property up here in Ohio, but it was before I was born and I dont' know where exactly on the 3 acres they were found. Two little guns were dug up from around the early 1900's, too.
I love collecting anything. I have about a dozen or more crystals hanging in my kitchen window. I like rocks. Antiques.
I used to sew and do ceramics a lot. I sold stuff at craft fairs and had pieces in consignment shops around town.
I love flower gardening. And wandering my back field absorbing nature. I think the neatest bird I've seen back there was a pileated woodpecker. Beautiful thing that looked like a crow size Woody Woodpecker.
I like to read poetry, how to's, biographies, historic romances, Louis L'Amour. I also LOVE to read the lyrics and poetry online at a few different sites. Of course, I like to write my own.
I dabble on guitar, flute, and keyboard occasionally. And I like to sing.
I also enjoy being a 'mom' of sorts both online and here at home. Kids are great. I always thought I wanted a ton of them and I guess I'vegot them without all those darn diapers to change!
I also love taking pictures and traveling as long as I'm not the one driving!
Shoot, I'm busier than I thought I was.

My hobbies are playing hockey (Jr.A here in Canada) and footy (for my university). I also build and race radio controlled cars (1/10 scale touring cars are my favourite) I shoot pool and snooker. So if any of you pool players want a real game call me up.....

Playing Younguitarist's / Cloaca's Necrophagist tabs.
Tabbing old thrash songs that no one but me (and Zionist) has ever heard of.
Playing Grand Theft Auto - Vice City, it has really almost become an obsession, I find the game and its characters/plots horribly nostalgic, and i just love to play the game
Working for a local contracting company that is located less than 2 miles from my house, the boss knew my grandfather ever since he came here from Poland in the 40's, so I have a good connection with the company's owners.
Riding my 1983 Honda Big Red 3-wheeler.
Beating up hardcore kids at school/concerts.
Among lesser things.
