Slayer man. They pushed the limits of what people thought of as extreme, and opened up the way for ever more extreme and satanic music. Metallic was also amazing, but they had more influence over commercial music than the underground. Megadeth is awsome, but only because of Dave Mustaine. Anthrax was just hopping on the band wagon, I don't even consider them to have any real significance or influence over the music we listen to at this forum.

And there were like these other pretty cool guys named Marty Friedman, Chris Poland, and David Ellefson, not sure if you've heard of them though.

I think it's a tad unfair to accuse Anthrax of riding the coat tails of others by hopping on a band wagon. Their debut came out shortly after Kill 'em All and a year before Killing is My Business. Spreading the Disease and Among The Living are genre defining albums. They helped introduce hardcore into metal and vice/versa, they dabbled with rap years before others did and covered punk tunes long before it was trendy to do so. They also had a sense of humour and could laugh at themselves.
Ok, State of Euphoria and Pers of Time are not as strong.

I like slayer but kill em all,Ride the lightning, Master of puppets, and justice for all beats anything they could conjure up ever. Then theres megadeth peace sells and the almighty rust in peace which is only rivaled by kill em all, and Master of puppets in my opinion. I would have voted for metallica but in my right mind I can't knowing the horrible things they have done. Oh and as for anthrax I feel insulted that they took the place where testament overkill or a talented band could have been. Which leads me to the obvious and reason for making this long and pointless post. Megadeth beats them all and only because I hate metallica and dave sings so bad it almost sounds good almost.
