Insert Metal Here
I'm curious....and am sure I'm not alone in doing this.....but dont know first hand anyone that does.
Do you ever take a really retarded mainstrem tune....and just redo the entire song into your own personal Metal version?
I have never written or composed any original material myself.....I either cover my favorite tunes or simply play, making it up as I go along.
A short while back I heard that 80's tune by Berlin "Metro" and must admit....was NOT my taste but noticed the fast and systematic keyboard throughout the song.....and figured it would sound wicked with some volume and Metal crunch. About two days and I had it down really well.....and have evolved it into quite a Metal Storm of Jam.
I also do an extreme Metal version of the Simpsons opening tune and of course "Happy Birthday"

I also remembered when I went to the Pat torpey drum clinic (Mr. Big) and he was discussing drum solo techniques, and one of them he used (to beat Terry Bozzio) he sung during his solo, he demonstrated this by singing yesterday by the beatles while soloing, and during one part he was doing an uber brutal 2 stroke double kick roll (that would make most death drummers wince) while singing the beatles, it was Very KVlt

Yeah, I don't really do it, but you get a band like Motley Crue or W.A.S.P. and I don't like them by themselves, but when you cover a song from them with waay more distortion and faster and have crazier solos, it sounds good. Bands like that are fun to cover songs cuz they have catchy riffs with good energy.

Dave Mustaine and Eddie Van Halen are experts at doing that. Anal Cunt does that a lot also. I also experiment with that kind of stuff as well as copping shit off the TV or soloing over whatever crap is on the radio or TV.

There's an old flash of "Hit Me Baby One More Time" by Brainshake floating around the Internet. It's cute.

Pop tunes? No. Do I take non-metal and metallicize it? Yes. My favorite to do is Wesley Willis, the man was brilliant. Buy his stuff, steal it from a store, steal it over the internet, but get it. It will change your life.

I use occasional Wesleyisms here and there, but sadly, nobody seems to notice. I can only hope they don't think I'm serious when I say that something sucks a golden retriever's funky bootyhole.

it is said and widely believed that he used to headbutt everybody he shook hands with, then the myth grew bigger that he had this huge callous on his forehead from hitting people and objects over many years, i heard he died recently
that song i heard today was the first time i heard his music, i instantly knew what it was tho thru the countless stories ive been told of this guy

No, he actually preferred headbutts to handshakes. He didn't call them headbutts, though, he'd just ask if he could 'bump heads' if he really liked someone. He'd bump heads casually with the people he was really close with. In pictures of him, you can clearly see a very dark spot in the middle of his forehead right where he normally headbutted people. I can't say for sure this spot was because of the headbutts, but it would stand to reason. Unfortunately, yes, Wesley did die, he passed in the summer of '03. The nearest explanation I've been able to find is that he died from mysterious stomach bleeding that was apparently unrelated to the Leukemia that was already killing him.

"Casper the Homosexual friendly Ghost"
It was shit that I never found out that he had died until after he had, like a year later or something. I saw him first in a documentry about him about a year or so ago, and that told me he was dead. Oh well thats what you get for being in Australia

See if you can find anything from his album "Shake Your Piggy Bank", "Guitar Rock of Ages", and "Never Kill an Ape". That shit's gold. "SMD Promotions", "Dead End Street", and "Torture Demon Hell Ride" are also primo shit. Just look up the album titles on a p2p, you probably won't be able to find the whole albums so it's not like you'd have to download 6 whole albums just because some guy on a forum told you to. Just check out a song or two from each.

Theres a band like that called Beatallica. They play beatles songs mixed with metallica songs in the style of metallica (ex. Blackened the USSR). Singer sounds exactly like Hetfield too, its funny as hell. I'd give you guys a link, but their website got shut down by Sony. Try searching for them.

I used to do a death metal version of Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix. Sounded pretty good, too.

I intend to do a metal version of the tetris music some time in the near future.
It will rule, oh yes, it will.
