i already tried Spybot, and i use adaware atleast twice a week...so far ive used...
Adaware
McAfee
Norton
Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta1
Spybot
and various online scanners...
I'm using HiJack This to try to rid myself of it manually, i've gotten rid of some symptoms...its a NTRootKit-H trojan...its brings me pornographic pop ups every 2 minutes or so, it makes my McAfee go crazy with warnings and such, it messed up my IE (i was able to fix this), and a few other annoyances

to delete undeletable things, you need to go into safe-mode, possibly in the administration account.
failing that ms-dos will do it.
but you need true ms-dos, which is dificult if your using windows 98 or newer.
you can usually get this by hammering f8 on start up, and getting the boot screen. select ms-dos.
if you cant delete it through that, you need to boot from a dos- bootdisk, which is another story.
those porn pop ups are bastards, they get every where and its damn near impossible to remove them. one way is a fire wall www.zonealarm.com
once thats installed, every program trying to get on the internet will ask you permission first, so just deny everything yu think is dodgy.
better than that though, is www.mozilla.org an alternative browser (formally netscape) which isnt affected by almost all spyware/trojans/internetbullshit. it even stops popups from websites( as opposed to virus pop ups)
for best results, use both programs. for even better results, use linux.

I have two programs to recommend- ZoneAlarm and Opera.
ZoneAlarm is a firewall and has already been mentioned by somebody else. Opera is a nice browser that's easy to modify to your personal preferences, which is awesome. It also allows the option of blocking un-clicked pop-ups, blocking all pop-ups, or opening all pop-ups in background windows. This is the best browser I've ever used my entire life and I refuse to switch over to anything else, unless it's an updated version of Opera. I've also heard wonderful things about a broswer called Firefox, you might want to check that out.

firefox is mozilla is netscape is mozillafirefox is netscape navigator.
they lost their impetus and changed their name when microsoft started distributing IE with windows. to do with that business with the monopoly lawsuit.
the main reason these browsers arent affected by viruses is that less than 2% of comuter users use them. and most of them know what they are doing. anyone writing a virus would want to effect 98% of people, so given the choice, they will do the dirty on bill gates.

thats not a virus or anything. its the index of your cookie files. If you clear your cookies that dat file will be smaller sized. If you go on the net for days and check it will be bigger because it is like the main file for your cookie files. It is not possible to delete unless you get rid of internet explorer

safe mode does nothing guys. all safe mode is, is a version of windows without any of your hardware drivers loaded. Your screen will look like shit cause your video card driver is not loaded, you cant go on the net cause your modem or network card driver is not loaded and so on... in safe mode.
no im not a computer whiz or whatever, im actually a car mechanic that deals mostly with electronics. i just happen to know alot about windows.

i'm sure you can have safe-mode with network connections...
either way, these suggestions'll come in handy with this fuckin' BullsEye network popup bollocks...and outlook express popping up every hour asking me if i want to send stuff to random people....

good for you
-you can also check out Ad-aware which is a spyware remover
-spybot search and destroy is very outdated and will only find about half of all spyware.
-delete everything out of c:\windows\temp
if your brave enough, you can also check out your msconfig (type in RUN) which lets you edit what starts up with your computer and stuff like that

Hmmm, this is a long shot but....does anyone have problems playing Mp3's, mpeg's, certain AVI's etc.etc.etc. any media file bar MIDI's.
Cos i downloaded a Codec(can't remember which though)so i could watch something in DViX player, and ever since then whenever i try to play something in Media Player, QT, AvRack, Kazaa, IE...it just says it is performing illegal operations....

safe mode is a version of windows runnning on the bear minimum, nothing else.
most viruses exploit other programs within windows which prevent you from deleting them. safe mode does not load these programs, so you can delete anything you like.

you should be able to remove the codec, go to control panel, ad/remove programs, and it should be displayed in the list. if its not there or that doesnt work, you need to tell me exactly what the error says. try to remember what the codec was, are there any programs that you can play media files in?

Well I downloaded two codecs on that night, one was a French one and the other an Official Dvix compatible one. I deleted the French one straight away, but after success of the file i wanted playing working with the Dvix one i didn't bother deleting that one. So, I try to open a song in Media Player and i get this message:-
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...om/untitled.jpg
Trouble is I can't find the codec on my computer anywhere and there are no installed codec's listed on my hardware/software list...so..fuck knows.
Strangely though, i am able to play some files in IE in QT player format

hmm, that message doesn't help at all, its a generalised
" bill gates has fucked up your computer ... again ... sorry! "
any other error messages you got? what was the file you downloaded the codec for?
how many different audio playback programs do you have? do any of them work (not including streaming like quicktime/realplayer through internet browsers) are there any files which work in wmplayer
do a search for divx* (make sure you search all possible locations, including hidden files) and if possible, give me a print screen of that too (only if it finds stuff)

Mozilla Firefox fucking rules I've got it and you don't get ANY popups unless you want to and you can have many sites open at once, they call it "tabs", you only have one window open but you can be on many sites in one window... they're now split up to quarters or anything like that thoug... I don´t know how to explain but it rules

First of all, what's wrong with a little porn? It's good for you, trust me. Second, fuck IE. It's a piece of shit, always was, and it always will be. You need to make the switch to Mozilla Firefox. I believe www.firefox.com is where you go to get it. Or just search for it at download.com.
Viruses, spyware, and other such shit is all made for IE, because it is the most popular browser used, and it has a shitload of security holes. Also, you might want to use just a little more common sense when looking for answers. A computer problem is best discussed at a web site or forum dedicated to somputers. If you had a problem with your guitar you wouldn't post your question on a PC forum would you?
My suggestion is to send an email to PC Wrold magazine. Chances are those guys have already encountered the problem and know how to fix it. And since you already know the name of the virus, your chances of getting rid of it are much better.
And, finally, make sure your system is all updated and shit. I hope this helps.
Edit: get rid of any file sharing software you have. They come loaded with viruses and spyware.

Lose Kazaa. It's a piece of shit that infects your system with spyware and shit. There's a good chance your problems are spyware or virus related.
The file sharing program I use is called Eye Mesh. It's a stripped down version of iMesh with no ads, popups, spyware, none of that junk. It's not perfect, as it sometimes encounters playback problems. Sometimes it can't play a certain file, and after that, it won't play anything else, at all. Restarting the program solves this problem. Plus, loads of good, quality porn. I highly recommend it.
