Practice space?
well i don't know how hard it is for the rest of you, but my band just lost our practice space, and spaces around here that i can think of are very slim and bands tend to fight for them. so here is my question for all of you that don't have a basement or garage. where do you practice? Any ideas where we could try begging to get some room to keep working on our music? Obviously we can't just keep paying for studio time to use it as a practice and writing session. just looking for some extra ideas cause i'm fairly stressed over it at this point.

Do you know any schools/unis that might do it?

Well, theres always old storage areas..? When we cant get anything else we just drive down the dockside and pick the best space to set up our gear and then we play there.. (probably a great idea to ask the owner first, i know we do )... Also there is schools and uni's and stuff as Cloaca said, this is also great solution.. Happy rehearsal

hmm, i know about the storage spaces... sort of. whether it's free or not isn't a big deal, its more of finding a storage space thats "band friendly" the one or two i know that are cool with bands have waitings lists out the asshole. i take it the best way to find one is just ask all the ones in my area if they are cool with a band practicing or not. thanks for the suggestions guys, i'm mailing ideas to my bassist and drummer as i get them

We have a place in our town called the Culturechamber (directly translated) where you rent a space with amps, drums and guitars/basses you can borrow, it costs about 70-80$ per band member for half a year, up to 2x2hours a week. Its pretty cool, for home practice i use my old room.

Right now, my band practices at the drummer's house. His neighbors are a bunch of metal looking chicks so they don't mind . Before that, we reserved the concert hall from the uni once a week. That was nice...a great big empty stage....

nah i only lived in russian for a year, then i lived in georgia for a year, germany for 7 years. When my band gets together (waiting for my friend to learn to play bass, and also need a drummer) we'll probably play in my room or something, that - or bringing down all the equipment to my porters office and playing there.

Check around for abandoned wearhouses with power outlets, that should work.

My drummer's basement's always been the place for us. The only problem is it gets hot/humid AS FUCK in the summer. You could always try setting up in someone's living room...we tried it once, it was pretty good.

Drummer's house. Nowhere else, really...
The storage area is a good idea.

It's a large room thats sound proofed and set up with acoustics they had made to put in their garage. It was made at some factory that makes this stuff and then just wheeled into the garage. It's great.
