Insomnia

Every single night of my life I lay in bed for hours till I fall asleep. It fucking sucks. I hate Insomnia with all my heart! But anyways, besides pills, what are some good ways to get to sleep? I've tried a lot of things (counting, jerking off, ect) but none of the things I hear work.

Thats not what I have but my brother has it. He stays on the computer most the night. Sucks for him.

ive got insomnia too, which is kinda funny **looks at name, which is meant to mean the band**

pills, bitch. best way. but besides that i find music helps, and just think real hard about something.

Read
Lift books
Read about weightlifting
Lift weightlifting books
Read about booklifting

What are your specific symptoms? If you've tried everything, go to a sleep specialist, they'll get to the bottom of the problem, whether's it's psychological or physical

ive explained how to help people sleep so many times im sick of doing it

1)do not smoke or exercise 4 hours before your bed time
2)maintain a constant bedtime. if you dont do this i have no sympathy for you.
3)dont spend more than 30 mintues in bed. youll just get upset and wind yourself all up
4)read
5)do not watch tv despite how boring, thats too distracting and stimulating
6)if you need music, keep it quiet
7)dont have a really bright nightlight

if you do all that and still cant sleep, fine, you have insomnia. if you do it and you go to sleep you are simply a product of society's new "im stressed and tired and brag about it" trend. i never type out long responses, but this is an important one. i hope you arent just trying to show off how stressed out you are.

if you dont fall asleep with 40 or so minutes, get up and go for a quick walk around the house, in the dark (or verry low light). I know you just end up getting pissed off if you lay there for hours at a time, unable to fall asleep.

i dont know if this is Insomnia but when im in bed and ready to sleep i just think about stuff, any stuff, i just cant clear my mind before sleep... so im just there for about an hour, hour and a half thinking about random stuff before i drop off to sleep.

Drink chamomile tea, it helps. Do alot of physical crap in your daytime, if your a lazy ass slacker then thats your whole problem right there. Don't do things your really into a whole lot, like guitar for me. Whenever im having sleep trouble, if I play guitar for more than 30 minutes before I sleep then I can't sleep because im still thinking about it when I sleep.

If you watch an old episode of the Simpsons you'll crash instantly. Oh, and reading helps a lot because it tires the eyes. Sometimes is just because the light is off. When the light is off for me it usually gets me happy and I feel like headbanging, but when the lights are on, I feel like taking a nap. God am I pathetic.

Hey! I also always want to take a nap when the lights are on, it's not that way with sunlight thoug, just the light in my room. When it's dark I always feel like going outside, don't know why.

If I cant go to sleep, I just play games or listen to music. Sometimes i write down cool song ideas that I hear in my head but i always lose them.

probably, yeah. mostly the bad doctors. i know an older guy, he had sleeping problems, but then he got like this oxygen respirator face mask thing that he puts on while sleeping, and that really helps him to sleep; he feels pretty refreshed in the morning


but he has a snoring problem, and that only helped when he was already sleeping....

yeah, one thing that helps me alot is if I don't look at what time it is. If I do, i get pissed off: "Damn, it's 2:30, i need to sleep ", etc.

then don't look at the damm clock, just when you think you have been there for ages and you aren't feeling sleepy, go for your walk (or whatever).

I hate int when its summer and its bloddy hot, so you want to take naps in the middle of the day (desert style ). Oversleeping is also bad because that leads to problems aswell.

Also if you want to take pills, then go to some kind of health food store or chemist(or anything like where you can get vitaman pills) and see if you can find something like "Valerion" (not sure of the spelling, ill check when i get home), especially the "forte" kind, thats sort of like a muscle relaxant, and you shouldn't need a perscription to get it, so if it works its some herbal thing, which is better for you than taking perscription drugs.

I have horrible insomnia, which you can probably tell by looking at the times of all my posts. There is nothing I can really do about it right now, but maybe a doctor could help. Maybe next time I get some money I'll go see a doctor. Hahahahaha... Yeah, right, I know I'll be getting a new computer or guitar.

It really fucks up my schedule and I miss classes sometimes because of it. Sometimes I have to say up around or in excess of 24 hours just to make sure I get to class. It doesn't always work. One time I got to school and just fell asleep. That's cool in high school, but it's pretty fucking embarrassing to be sleeping through class in college.

Not really. I sleep in Theory2 sometimes. But that's because even if I do get a good night's sleep this class is at 8 in the fucking morning. But I've never missed a class before. I've skipped for reasons, but never accidently missed.

I only get a few hours of sleep a night, if any. It would be worse, but I've made it a part of my life and so operate fairly well on it, only occasionally becoming an exhausted mess the next day. I refuse to change anything in order to get more sleep, and it allows me more time to procrastinate with the comfort of always having more time in which to do something, so I'm stuck with it, and I deal. I suppose getting rid of it would also be a fine choice.

Hahaha, I think I enjoyed that a little too much. But it's true, if you get a lot of excerise...you'll have a good sleep, and reading makes you tired..(I hate when I want to read but I'm too tired to read)

But usually when I can't sleep(I tend to think about everything I could possibly think of when I go to bed)...I think about I'm in Grand Theft Auto, like in a video game world, so that I'm just walking around the city...it always works. Or sometimes, I just visualize random pictures that comes out of the blackness when I close my eyes.

I've been suffering from insomnia for 6-7 years maybe. Lately, I can get to sleep at around 8-9 am. Which is alright for me. I'm usually asleep for maybe, 3-4 hours. I tried sleeping pills, it worked, but I become dependant on them too easily. I sometimes goes 50 hours on end without sleep. Quite unhealthy. Probably explains my post count. 4:15 AM now.

It was particularly nasty when I went to college.

The only problem I have is that if I drink
a coffee at 8-9 pm I have trouble sleeping(I stay in
bed for 2 hours until I sleep).One annoying thing is
to hear a noise and wake up just before you sleep(you
know when you are almost dreaming).

A friend's recipe against insomnia:
1)jerk off
2)smoke some pot
3)smoke some more pot
4)And finally smoke even more pot
You can't tell he is a pothead can you?

That works great, i smoke almost every night before i go to bed and i sleep great. dont forget to save a bowl or two for a wake and bake, itll make the begining of your day alot better.

Ah, yes, I can relate to that relaxed feeling you get when you wake up after a night of pot smokin

also, another thing about insomnia: If it's annoying but not bad enough to see a doctore, try to find ways to make use of your 7-9 extra hours of being awake. If you decide to go ahead and accomplish certain things, then you can get ALOT done in 1 or 2 hours of dedication.

I have one problem with sleeping pills.

I have to take them a couple hours before I actually intend to go to sleep.

I lost it at booklifting, it's probably from smoking too much....And to the guy who smokes weed to go to sleep, yeah your right it works...I used to have to smoke weed to go to sleep because I would think how I was fucking up my life when I was sober.

Anyone know how to kill dreams? I'm scared to sleep and have real bad insomnia cuz for the past month, every time I dream I have these really horrible nightmares where I kill one of my best friends. Really graphic, sometimes I wake up screaming. I got to see a shrink now, but if I could stop the dreams, I wouldn't go.

Well, you just gotta bury it. I don't know why I say this but I sometimes have the same problem. Not about my friends but people in general. For ex.: I'm talking to this regular chick I always say hi to, and I suddenly think, "what would happen if I just smasked her in the face?" Or, about my mum's dog to which I love alot (shut the fuck up guys), lately I've been seeing images of me waking up in the middle of the night and hanging that cute dog on a tree. Sometimes I also think about how one day I'm sitting on the lawn with the dog on a leash, and a guy comes up and shoots the dog'e head off. Shit, I would never do such things. Dont know if its already been said - dont care. Sing songs in your head. Think about yourself up on stage playing a concert in your town, think of the faces, the riffs... Just try and visualize this sort of shit. Works for me most times.

I have said several times there aren't enough metalheads in Maryland. Sometimes I wish I was born in Europe where the metal thrives. But us Americans got The Dillinger Escape Plan and Lamb of God right now, so NM!!!!
