Cover songs.
Right now I'm sitting and listening to Burden of Grief with Master of puppets( for those who don't knowm It's a Metallica cover). Suddenly it strikes my brain, this song is almost as good as the "real" thing! And when I think about it, many cover songs are almost as good as the originale song, or even better( Gamma Ray - It's a sin). How many cover songs do you know that's almost as good as the originale?

Cannibal Corpse's cover of Metallica's "No Remorse" is insanily good......it puts metallica's original version to shame.

cc- no remorse, decapitated - mandatory suicide (a lot more brutal than the original), at the gates - captor of sin, and white zombie - children of the grave.
i wouldnt say all those are better than the originals, but they are still kick ass versions.

I don't think covers are ever as good as the originals, eventhough Dream Theater - Master of Puppets gave Metallica a run for their money, but the singer had to wreck it, James just fits perfectly in the song, that guy didn't. Even though Petrucci played the solo effortlessly, but hey, they grew up on Metallica so whatever. I hate it when covers is a WHOLE different song, but they just keep the lyrics, not much of a cover anymore.

Cannibal Corpse-No Remorse ('Tallica)
Sepultura-Orgazmitron (Motorhead)
Kenny G-Reighn in Blood (You know!)
I hope that last one never happens. All though it would be funny, and he might kill himselfe in the process.

But if they didnlt experiment and improvise then its pointless, wshy would you want an EXACT copy of a song?
You'd listen to the original, what makes covers cool is what they would sound like if done by a different genre

re; cover
nod, i defin. agree with you.
In flames has some nice grunts on eye of the beholder, it's so cool to hear that song a little different solo also, quite cool song.
Can be found on the Lunar Strain (special version) album, song nr 16 i thought.

The reason people make cover song is to show another side of the song. Not to copy the song so you can't know the difference between the cover and the originale.
If you are a Maiden fan, try out CoF's version of The Trooper, kind of funny version.

Guess you mean CoB-The Trooper
Or CoF-Hallowed be thy Name
I've got tons of Iron Maiden-covers, and they are all good.
But I DISLIKE when Britney Spears made a "funk-inspired" version of I Love Rock & Roll, one of my top childhood classics! I call that RAPE!
BTW, Dimmu Borgir's version of Burn in Hell is better than the original...

I'll have to check that cover out.
I personally like cover songs, they're different so it's all good.
Some of my favorite covers are:
Nativity in black (most of the album especially type-o-black sabbath and white zombie-children of the grave)
Nativity in black 2 (most of the album, especially pantera-electric funeral godsmack-sweetleaf system-snowblind and i find busta rymes-iron man, amusing cuz it pisses off so many people )
Planet Caravan - pantera ( i actually like this song better than sabbaths version)
Seek and destroy -pantera [live] (shitty sound quality but it's cool)
Negative creep-machine head (heavy shit for a nirvana song)
all along the watchtower - jimi hendrix (this song imo is way better than dylans)
knockin on heaven's door - pink floyd (awesome song with a floydian twist)
stairway to heaven - pink floyd and zepplin (pretty wild shit)
So what - metallica (heh heh)
fade to black - apocalyptica (mellow shit)
the badge - pantera (song's cool)
d-7 - nirvana (better than the original.
There's a shitload more, but there's some.

IMO METALLICA ALWAYS DID A GREAT JOB WHEN COVERING SONGS
AM I EVIL IS WAY BETTER THAN THE ORIGINALS BY DIAMOND HEADS
ON GARAGE INC. THEY DID A COVERS OF MERCYFUL FATE IT'S A MEDLEY OF THREE OR FOUR SONGS. I REALLY LIKE IT.
TUESDAY'S GONE HAS BEEN WELL MADE TOO.
SYMPTOM OF THE UNIVERSE COVERED BY SEPULTURA HAVE A BETTER DRUM TRACK THAN THE ORIGINAL BY BLACK SABBATH. I CAN'T SAY THAT IT IS BETTER BUT IT IS REALLY CLOSE.
I PREFER STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN VERSION OF LITTLE WING THAN HENDRIX'S. IT IS LONGER AND MORE BLUESY SOUND.
I DONT KNOW IF YOU COUNT THIS AS A COVER BUT ESTRADASPHERE (A PROGGRESSIVE JAZZ BAND) DID A JAZZ COVERS OF MARIO BROS 2. IT IS REALLY WELL MADE. (CHECK OUT THAT BAND IF YOU LIKE PROGRESSIVE JAZZ WITH MANY INFLUENCES: BLUES, DEATH METAL, COUNTRY, TANGO, FOLKS MUSIC). THEY ARE AMAZING.
P.S. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHY THE FUCK TORI AMOS DID A COVER OF RAINING BLOOD??? FUCK !!!! I'VE ALMOST VOMITTED WHEN I HEARD THAT PIECE OF SHIT!!!

He wrote a bunch of really strange shit. Steve Vai was his guitarist for a while, and some of the stuff wasn't bad, more just humorous than anything.
And Jesus, if you guys don't know who someone is, why don't you just type in a fucking search for them on Yahoo or download something off of Kazaa or something.

For the color dancers were pulsing, spinning, making liquid cartoons. Not really animations, but clear shades of color, forming a toy playground. They made this delight of breathing easy. All the playground objects were alive, including the swings and the merry-go-round. A silvery-blue arch of plastic color formed and collapsed in the center. A toy little boy, or maybe she was a little girl, jumped along this object, sliding down it, hanging on with small fingers, leaping into the grass. I felt a sense of responsibility begin to resonate within me, both for the knowledge of my wife and my coming child, and the deep psychedelic responsibility of my shamanic-like path. I glanced away briefly and one of the DMT beings, tall, thin and golem-like, grasped my head and turned it back to see. The shapes kept moving, and the child was my innocence too, and it was asking me to promise to share that innocence completely with our shinebelly baby when she/he births and grows and becomes human.

Then just set down your computer, count to ten, then take up your chair and throw it out of the window. Then delete every trace of the song from your computer.

Reminds me of when we tried to play that Incubus-shit you downloaded.
Your PC stopped...I never understood why.
By the way, HIM has a great cover of Wicked Game, the Chris Isaac-classic.

Matthias IA Elkundh - Detroit Rock City
He made out of a kiss-song a jazz-song, fucking fast. But he has some other nice songs and he plays with vibrators and remote controls. Try some song of him. I think he´s on the label of Steve Vai.

anything metallica done on garage days (early) is pretty sweet.
in flames - everything counts
cannibal corpse - no remorse
.. are two of my favs otherwise.
nother's the final countdown & youth gone wild are pretty badass!
some bands' covers are better than the originals.
