The most i've ever weighed was 175 pounds and that was right before bootcamp. Before and during ocs (this summer) i weighed 155 pounds. It was nuts. Thats pure running for you.

You run all the fucking time. Thats basically all you do. And you do alot of like non traditional running. What i mean by that.. is running in like.. full gear after being soaked in water and mud and stuff like that. That really kicks your ass moer than doing like a 4 or 5 mile run.
I n eed to start running like once a week. At least.

Preach elsewhere. This is obviously a pro-alcohol thread, but of course..we all drink responsibly.
Graf, you are probably able to obtain Samuel Smith. Godamn, pick up the Nut Brown and Oatmeal Stout. The Nut Brown Ale is the best of it's class I've ever had...same may be said for the OS.

yea i've been keeping my eye open for that 3 pack w/ glass. my old roommate got one not too long ago. i had a swing of one of them...i forget which. the old brewery pale ale was pretty good though.
tonight i bought a bottle of bah humbug! its pretty good..but i think the scarecrow was much more to my liking. i also got a 12 pack of assorted brews from left hand brewing company. so far i've only had their imperial stout, so i'm looking forward to trying all these.

I've never had the Fat Tire.
Yeah, the SS pale ale was good too, but I favored the other two more.(I'm more of a darker beer drinker anyways.)

i had it one time and remember thinking it was pretty damn good. not a really dark beer, but i liked it more than the other beer i had while i was in texas for a weekend. i haven't seen it on sale around here...if i did, i'd definitely buy some more. not really sure what else i'd compare it to though. i only had some on one night and can't honestly remember how it tastes.

i dont think drinking in itself is wrong, i believe getting drunk is. Some wine tastes farely good. I despise the taste of beer though. I think having a drink with a nice dinner or something formal is fine as long as its only one.

You probably despise the taste of beer cause you've probably had it like once. The phrase "aquired taste" isn't just for show.

How do you think the bible was written? You think those pedophile monks drank in moderation? Of course you like wine you fucking devoted.

Um what monks did in the middle ages is none of my concern, and i dont even drink wine considering im underage, but i have had tastes of it for communion, and i think i had a glass one time with a steak supper at my friends house. Wine is decent, i prefer juice anyday though.
(I think its so funny how the only thing people point out at me on this site is how stupid they think i am, its not like i dont know what people in my faith have done, geesh pick the log out of your own eye before you pick the speck out of mine!!! )
And by the way many bibles were translated and written by the "heretics" that were later killed in the inquisition, and dont think that just because certain cases where monks did very wrong things doesnt mean all of them have, many more catholic priests have done far more disgusting things than the monks of yore did. Go read a book NoOb!!!

alright. haha, i think i remember asking you before, now, and you said pretty much the exact thing! haha, my bad for forgetting. i guess i'll give it a try on Friday, seeing as how my friends get a bottle every time, and im just losing interest in that. i already think im really going to regret the amount of liquor ive had in my life, later, so id like to lessen the consequences and have it less often.

Yeah!? yeah!? What Def said!
All in all i'd rather not debate what your could probably think is wrong based upon religious aspects (Because its generally a dead end debate) but what could possibly be "wrong" with the act of getting drunk? Like wrong with the indirect results thereof as a result of being in the state of drunkeness?
Because if you are saying that you don't beleive in alcohol as the savior, then..... well i might just have to disagree with you. <--- beer god.

Yeah, I agree..Beer is god.
Anyways, enough of your filthy religious taint in the Alcohol thread, save it for someone who cares on this site..oh wait, no one.
Belgium monks have been brewing some of the finest beers for several centuries, and to this day still do so. I bet ya they don't teach ya that in sunday school do they nancyboy? Because they sure didn't teach me that before I dropped out.

Hellz yeah, Duvel for shizzle frizzle.
There is so much more out there though. So much beer to taste and not a big enough liver!
If anyone enjoys beer, join http://beeradvocate.com/ . You will learn an assload about it as well as the top brands throughout the world. I think there are 60,000-70,000 or more beers on the site, if I remember reading correctly.

That seems like almost too many to even attempt to try to make a dent in it
I enjoy the occasional microbrew or new beer i haven't had before, but i like xgraf stick to beer to get me good and drunk at affordable but still tasty prices.
Also i don't like getting drunk TOO often on thick beer. Ugh. Fills me up. I mean its good... and completely different drunk, but its generally not a drink to get drunk thing.

WOO CRAFT BREW.
I'll hopefully be able to refill my growler this weekend with Propeller London Porter, and then get a 650ml of their IPA. *drools*
and then have a decent buzz to go to Kataklysm.

Do you actually drink beer? The only people that i knew to like high life were people who couldn't stand the taste of beer....
I'm just sayin! i'm just sayin!

hey don't blame me. I haven't been around for ages!
But err, Jesus is the guy that multiplied wine. He's my homie. I bet he can probably do the same with beer and expensive single malts
Err, well yeah forget about the religious part, no use for it, plus it's like telling transient to keep away from the gaybar, impossible.
At least we all agree (well most of us) that beer is good. Do you guys in the US really have to walk around with a paper bag in the streets? That's fucking ghetto. over here you don't have to do that though.

Yah, it's pretty cool. the best belgian beer is made by monks, they only sell it ONE week a year and every person can only get ONE crate.
Every guy that wants some has to stay in line so there's a huge traffic jam there every year, for about two days. Since it's allways sold out in one or two days!!!
Weird but true, I haven't tried it yet but I don't remember the exact name either. I do know there's more monastery's that work like this.
I'm pretty much up to speed with monastery's, their way of life and procedures after reading 'the rule of benedictus'.

yea its true. technically i'm not even sure if you're allowed to walk around drinking period....bag or not. i've done it before when i'm walking to the store or something and have had people say i wasn't supposed to be doing that. i didn't have a bag..but i don't think it matters. the guys at the corner store always insist on a bag when i buy a quart.
it was pretty nice in italy being able to walk around with a big bottle of beer. ha i even saw some short fat drunk as hell lady slurring to herself walking down the street with a bottle of red wine in each hand! i took a picture of her, but i didn't realize how small the pics were going to come out on the computer screen, so it wasn't zoomed in enough.

I'm pretty damn sure you're not. Same rules apply in Canada.
Dominican Republic you can drink and smoke everywhere too, I've said it before, but when I was first there I went into a mall at the resort going into stores smoking and drinking their local lager(Presidente). It was quite the novelty, that didn't wear out. lol.

yeah, not allowed. but about the bag, Def, i think people here use a bag to keep it colder, though i never notice a big difference, and when i have a mug nearby, the beer goes in there anyway.

hah, i know. its even worse when its a bottle in a bag. i mean, you can see about 2 or 3 fuckin inches of the neck sticking out of the bag. if you really want to fool them, a fast food cup would work. ive done it before. and in that case, the foam cups really do keep it a little colder. of coarse none of it is a very good idea, but it really helps when you wish to arrive drunk to your destination. for example: the last time i did it, i was on my way to the beach, and it was already nearing 7:00.

I'm not sure of the validaty of this, but i think its not the ACT of drinking public as much as.. being scene with it. I'm somehwat sure you can somewhat bypass it because of the bag.
I mean lets break it down at least mildly logically here. As you just said its FUCKING BEYOND OBVIOUS if you're walking around with a brown paper bag drinking from it.. its obviously alcohol. But why do people continue to do it? Why have people ever done it in the past to the point where we now talk about it on an "international forum"? There must obviously be some sort of truth behind putting it in a paper bag. I'm slightly sure you can get away with drinking in public as long as its "hidden away."

True to the first statement. But that doesn't neccesarily rule out getting a buzz. A buzz or effects isn't drunk, and therefore not illegal. They probably have a set limit (i have no idea what it is) for how intoxicated you can be in public.
And the only time they charge anybody for being drunk in public is if you are disturbing hte peace. probably just another law they created to tack on more charges for doing stuff.

Hes in violation. Kind of protecting their own ass thing.

Exactly, take the hip-flask for instance- that certainly isn't illegal.

You certainly will be stopped by cops if you're drinking in public. You can obviously be drunk in public, as long as your not doing anything that is disturbing.(Which was already said)
It's like the laws here, how you're not supposed to drive with open liquor. No seals or packs of beer are supposed to be open. These laws are obviously bent. Not too long ago some guy sued because he got fined for having beer in his truck,(not in the cab) as it was supposed to be in the "trunk". He sued the cops, and now you are allowed to drive with it in the car, but it has to be an arms length away and unopened.
Yet you can pick booze up from drive thru liquor stores.

I thought hobo's started the brown paper bag thing to keep it cooler. Never worked for me. About as bad as being at a party and everyone telling you to put it in red cups so people can't tell your drinking if the point of the bag were to be discrete about it. However, i cant say for sure if you can drink in public if your discrete about it because im a minor and i went to jail for drinking in public . Should have asked them while i was there.

Me and two friends drank in Wendy's before, we just asked for cups and the dude was like "just don't let the manager see it". It was actually a really good idea because we wanted a few more drinks into us before playing pool and paying $5 a beer.

TEE HEE. In Quebec the legal age for everything is 18. I think it's kinda odd how you can buy CIGARETTES at 18 in the states, but have to wait three years for alcohol. In the rest of Canada it is 19 for both.
Man, I remember being underage...it was so much easier to get basically any drug than get to get booze or smokes! I remember cigarettes were like a godsend at 15.
Surprisingly I never did a lot lot of liquor runs, most of the guys I hung out with were older so they were the one's that got them for me. lol.
Even being legal age though, It still feels like a crime sometimes when trying to purchase smokes and alcohol..I fucking hate being id'ed..especially when I show them a id thats 3 years old(with short hair) and they look me up and down and question me, like It's fake or not me.

because dumbass kids with cigs can't do nearly as much damage as they could with alcohol. the same can be said about weed...it should be legal. "waaahh"

Yes, but cigarettes kill a lot more people than alcohol ever did.

Although thats a solid point. Isn't the age supposed to mean (at least in my book) that by that age you are mature enough to make those kind of decisions? (buying one or the other and consuming it)
Smoking is something that requires LOTS... and LOTS... and LOTS of smoking in order for it to effect you.. ESPECIALLY killing you. Alcohol... well it requires more maturity and moderation than smoking does, as one night drinking can kill you vice the POSSIBILITY of 60 or 70 years of smoking.

Fair enough, you do have a good point..but I don't think it takes 21 years of age to learn the affects of and the maturity for drinking alcohol. That's a main reason why there are so many problems with college students in America, they go all out because they had to wait so godamn long.
I've been drinking since I was 14 and smoking full time at 15..I guess some people don't really learn.
Edit - I had an off class today between my two classes so I go to the LS. I thought it opened at 9:30am but this one was 10am, so I had to wait about 20 minutes. Yes, I waited for the liquor store to open. haha. Godamn, you shoulda seen the bums and 60 year old alkies there wading with me!
EVERYONE OF THEM BOUGHT EITHER AN ASSLOAD OF BEER, OR A JUG OF VODKA, OR A COMBINATION OF BOTH.
There were a few bikes parked outside, they were the homeless dudes.

hahahah! that reminds me of when i was in hichschool. about 10-11th grade i took a sprite bottle full of rum, a water bottle full of tequila, and another water bottle 1/2 full of vodka. me and 3 friends walked to burger king during lunch and drank nearly all of it. then on the walk back we finished the rest. wait, i think ive posted this before. fuck it. if i did, i never mentioned that there was a gay guy that worked there and he hooked us up in ridiculous proportions, considering he didnt even know us, just that we went there a lot.

Sweet, I looked it up on BA the other day when it was mentioned. It looks really good. Usually anything with over an 80 review on that site, is definitely worth trying.
So, today starts a province wide smoking band in all establishments, mainly for my sake, bars. I'm fucking pissed, we had this "law" a couple of years ago as well, but bars made smoking rooms and such..which makes sense..and now there is nothing. So they expect people to pile in the godamn streets when they want to have a smoke. In Downtown Halifax there are bars in every crevice, I presume there will be lot's of people being pissed off outside smoking.
The poor smoker, they make you feel like a criminal these days. Christ, try having a cigarette in -35C weather, or a fucking rain/snow storm.. it's not very fun..

Being in a smoky pub having a nice ale is what it's about, it loses that little 'pizzazz' without a smoke-haze about

This smokey haze you speak of, is extremely disqusting. Theres nothing worse than stuff that smells like its been heavily smoked. Not to mention can be hard to breathe. I know a music show place i used to go all the time used to be smokable.. you couldn't fucking breathe in that place because of it. Since they've banned it, its alot.. alot better.

May i add that even though i'm a non-smoker myself (apart from the odd cigar, but not at the pub!), i think the smoking bad is a negative thing for the pubs. However, tmfreak, i see where you're coming from, and why the ban is coming into place.

When I was there they had an assortment of old punk playing, not really my thing, but my mate said the last time he went in there he heard some thrash.

Damn gra some nice looking beers. FINALLY figured out a place to go to get all this strange imports around here in the bible belt wo0t!
As for the smoking deal i think its good thay banned smoking in public places, and im a smoker. I smoke a hell of alot less considering i cant smoke in the current momment. Your helping kill your self and others! I find it pretty damn disgusting you can actually stand in a huge smoke cloud and enjoy a beer in in the midst of it. Thats fucking awful, usually if its that bad inside the bar i just walk the fuck out side.

I bought two growlers, one of Extra Special Bitter, one of London Porter..as well as a bomber of IPA. So good. Stevefrost bought a growler of Honey Wheat Ale and my friend just bought the Pale Ale. Hell, we should be sponsored by the brewery.

Get them to sponsor you. I can only imagine what it must mean in free drinks for the people sponsored by breweries.

haha, well I don't know if they can or even do that. I've certainly never heard of a brewery sponsoring a beeraholic. haha.
sqol, you may be right..especially with the drinkability of the ESB to the porter. However, I can't say I've tried every style of beer..but so far for me it's been Oatmeal Stout> basically everything else. I like to mix things up though, like last night I drank the Porter and ESB growlers, and ended with the bottle of 6.5% IPA. It's crucial, especially after drinking beer such as stouts, to drink a variety.. your colon will thank you.
Anyways, beer owns.

You just need to be able to promote them in some way. Usually it's a celebrity endorsement, but I believe that a conspicuous enough drunk might be the ideal spokesman for a brewery. It's a tricky proposition, but it could work. It's worth fighting for, anyway.

Indeed, I believe they only have 7-10 people hired..but perhaps once they start gaining more ground I could try to get a job for them somehow. Perhaps as a beer taster.

A friend of mine used to work for a restaurant/brewery in the Bay Area. He was apparently the first person who ever worked there to ask if his employee discount would extend to kegs. It did.

Check This
Damn just to think only one state did it. Out of everywhere i thought the bible belt would be the first . As for that i highly doubt the fat man would drink beer maybe some nice brown liquor or a dry gin something with a kick.

I saw that on BA, New York overruled the decision...and now it's trying to be banned in Maine.
For one, how many underage kids would want more expensive craft beer. Two, which 15 year old are influenced by a Christmas theme? Three, that's why cashiers check fucking I.D's.
Idiots!

Awww, that sucks about the SS, I didn't get another one..hopefully I will though. I'm pretty damn sure the giftset they are selling here has the t shirt. I remember hearing it from the Halifax dudes on BA.
ha! I also picked up a 650ml of Shakespeare Stout! It was $7.99cdn with tax..how much was yours? I thought it was really good, but I have a St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout before it, and I have to say I like the St. Ambroise a little more. They both have a 91 of BA. lol. VERY similiar beer though, I find the SA is just the slightest tad sweeter. Same coloured head, yet the SA seems to have more lace.
I bought $43 worth of beer at the local specialty store.
6 pack of St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout
6 pack of Unibroue Trois Pistoles Strong Belgian Dark Ale
1 Rogue Shakespeare Stout
1 Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale(which I haven't seen there before..I'm excited to try it)
I only drank two beer, and a mouthful of the Trois Pistoles. Everything was very good. It should be a great weekend, especially when I get some more brews.

yea, the bill adds up quick at those stores. the ss was actually the cheapest rogue bomber they sell at the store here..just 4.50! the rest are 5. damn sounds like i'll have to find this st. ambroise os..i was gonna pick up the samuel smith os but they only had the pale ale. hah that monty python ale is pretty good..nothing special really. i bought it more out of novelty, but it was definetly better than a LOT of beers.

haha Yeah, the Monty Python definitely seems like a novelty, but I collect beer bottles now(I have 20-30) and It looks good for a collection.
You should be able to find the St. Ambroise somewhere, it's microbrew from Quebec but seems quite available for BA'ers. I find it's best after about two-three beers, it just seems more satisfying for some reason. lol.
I'll still pick up Rogue time to time, but at that price..I'll only drink them frequently If I win the lottery. haha.
Pr0az - Graf is probably your man for that..simply because of the selection difference from Canada and the US. It also depends on what style of beer you want, but it's always great to try new beers!

as bassb said, it depends...not sure what you like, or how much you want to spend or how much the store charges.
so far everything from rogue i've had has been pretty damn good. they aren't the cheapest though (don't think there are any cheap micro brewed beers). sierra nevada is another of my favorite companies...if you like darker beer, they have stout and a porter, or their christmas beer(more expensive than the rest), and even their regular pale ale is great.
if you like dark beer, i would try to find some old rasputin imperial stout..its from north coast brewery. i tried another beer they made..it was really good too..just don't remember what it was.
pretty much every ipa i've had was good, can't think of one i've tried that i didn't like. ipa is probably a good choice...i'd recommending them to anyone.
one thing i do when i go to the good beer store here, is buy one main thing like a 12 pack or 6 pack..then buy a few single bottles to try different styles and companies. after a while, you'll have a pretty good idea of what you like and where to go from there.

theres another beer brewed by the same company that makes the monty python ale..its called black sheep ale or something..or else thats the name of the company..black sheep brewing co. i haven't tried it yet but its on the list.
i'll have to ask the guy about st. ambroise..i hope i don't pronounce it all fucked up haha. i can't say i recognize the bottle though, and i pretty much look at everything everytime i go there.
yea, i've been holding onto a bottle of each beer i've tried..there are some older ones that i haven't had since i started keeping them..but not sure if i want to drink any of that shit again just to have a bottle. i'm running out of room on my ledge thing in the closet..so i might be looking for a bookshelf on trash day.
edit...if i can't find this st. ambroise, maybe we can work out some international beer trade or something. not sure what we have that isn't available up there though.

haha, you americans are retarded if you're drinking 3% Colt 45! It's all 8% up here!
That's fuck up about the St. Ambroise, I know if definitely goes to other states. I don't know exactly how to pronounce it either, haha..sometime when French Bob is on MSN i'll have to ask.
A beer trade would be great! Although, I'm terrified about doing it..simply because of the customs getting in the way of the situation. Like I said, there was a thread on BA about it and sometimes thing work out...but a lot of times they don't.
I've had the Black Sheep Ale several months ago, it's actually one of the first beer bottles I started collecting. I didn't like the beer though, had way too much of a molasses taste to it that made it completely non enjoyable for me to drink. I drank 3/4 of it and "drained" the rest.
I guarantee you have a better selection of beer though..simply because of the sheer volume of potential customers, there is much more of a competitive market as well..because of the fact that you have a huge amount of private liquor stores as opposed to Nova Scotia. Even the rest of Canada has lax laws compared to my province.
Oh well, we both get better alcohol selection that many shitty places in the world.

I'm drinking a Unibroue Trois Pistoles(9%) right now and it's very good. Has a very high ranking on BA, but a lot of those guys are brown nosing snobs anyways.
You can age this over and beyond 10 years..which hopefully I will do with a few bottles...I just wish I had a more proper storage place than the box it came in.

That's awesome news man! I asked my dad if he was still going to the DR, he's not..but we can chill here a couple of nights I'm sure anyways.
haha, I guess I'll be chilling with you on New Year's then..you leave me no choice! It should be awesome. You'll have some great fucking beer up here..and you can lose your money at the local casino!
There are hotels relatively close to my place..or if you want to stay in some motels...the closest one in about a 5 minute drive away. It's a little ghetto, but probably $40-60 a night. Actually, there are a couple near me that I can try to find out rates for.
Most bars close here at 2-3:30am..the casino is open at all hours however...but they only serve drinks if you are gambling. Probably should avoid that place as much as possible. We have a really good bus system, but it stops at 12am. A cab from downtown Halifax to your hotel or my place would be $10-15 max.
