Angry Why no Metallica?

I've noticed that many of the progenators of thrash/speed metal, such as Slayer and Megadeth are present in the tabs of MetalTabs.com ... yet no old Metallica. When I mean old metallica, I mean ...And Justice For All and before. Their new music is horrible, don't get me wrong. If one were to assemble a stack of cds of all their music consisting of the self-titled Black album to present, I'd piss all over it right in front of those four guys. I'd go find Newsted from whatever gig he's playing and make him watch it too since he played a part in it.

What I'm really asking, is it because their new music is just that shitty, that four heavy metal masterpieces ( KTA, RTL, MOP, AJFA )have been discluded from metaltabs.com ? If so ... goddamn that's some pretty shitty new music then .

Why else would Metallica be discluded?

did you read the tab posting rules? its clearly written there that the only reason for not including metallica tabs is the copyright blah blah issue and has nothing to do with their stuff being good or bad.

Whoops. Sorry, I'm new to this site.

Metallica lawyers suing over tab?

I don't see how a case like that could even be entertained in a court of law.

Aside from the answers, Metallica's first four albums were NOT masterpieces. They were very good, but masterpiece is a HEAVY exaggeration. Reign in Blood and Peace Sells were masterpieces. Forbidden Evil was a masterpiece. Or, if I want to be lame, I could call them THRASHsterpiece. Hahaha! THRASHTERPIECE! Get it?! Me neither!

well, if we want to split hairs, then I'll get out the butterknives ...

When I mean masterpieces, the album Kill Em All pretty much ( arguably, my history may be wrong ) launched the underground thrash genre in their area of the nation. Master of Puppets, to some, was the crowning achievement of thrash metal ( I myself prefer Reign in Blood, I've always thought Slayer trumped Metallica record for record ). So two out of four albums esteemed to such a degree says a lot.

Most bands' entire catalogue of music can't compare to just one of the old Metallica records, very few bands can lay claim to the same impact early Metallica had. That says a lot as well.

Well, how about this; That was the dumbest thing you could have ever said.

I'd like to point out that I am just pointing out some things and nothing I mention is meant as an attack on you. That being said, you are wrong with the ascertation that Kill 'em All launched a genre. There were already several thrash bands around at that time, several of whom (Anthrax, Slayer, etc.) were just as pivotal in jump starting the thrash scene as Metallica were. They were arguably the first to release an album, but otherwise hold no other importance over any other early thrash band. It is also noteworthy they they were the first thrash band to go mainstream and start playing drivel, so that trend could also be attributed to them, which more than ruins any importance their first album would have had.

As for your ascertation that the fact that the two named albums are held in such high esteem is merely evidence that people tend to overrate many things. The Spice Girls were once held in high esteem. Drowning Pool and Mudvayne are held in high esteem. It means nothing because they all suck. As far as any of those four albums being better than the entire collection of most other bands, I'd agree if you were not talking about metal bands. Because seeing as pop predominates music (and always has), it's easy to understand how Master of Puppets is better than the entire discography of Billy Ray Cyrus or Devo. If you are talking about metal, I highly disagree. Metallica, while a great band in the 80's, are also the most highly overrated thrash band of that timeframe. That is probably due in no small part to the fact that they are the most overrated band in metal today as well. If you asked popular opinion what the greatest metal album of all time was, they'd probably say "Metallica- Black Album".
