well, for extremely cheap... you can purchase the head that the all mighty chuck(r.i.p.) used, the marshall valve state 8100. great head imo, and its about 250$ then get a used mesa recto cab and your good to go for great tone.

I went down to Middletown music yesterday and saw a 200W Randall half stack for $800 but if you're nice to the guy you could probably talk him down to $750. He said he has a Custom 200W Fullstack for the same price at his other store.

for $750 used... you fit in my bv120h+1960a suggestion category ... but you also should check out maybe a fender rocpro(a fender that actually does metal), a 5150 may also be in your grasps.... maybe a small rack setup? like preamp+poweramp.... say, and ada mp-1 + peavey classic 50/50 in a 3 space rack or something....
you should definatley look at used gear though.

Its the Crate Shockwave GT3500H 350w SS Head. If you havent played it before, you should go out to a Guitar Center (they should have them) and try one. Let me know how you liked it. I'm pretty surprised how non-crappy it is.

For cabs on ebay, you gotta hope someone near you is selling it because they hardley ever have it for shipping. And it gets pretty expensive to ship large items such as cabs.

I bought a Cab online, $60 shipping. For bigger stuff UPS is the way to go. I had my head shipping by USPS and it was more expensive than the cab and they fucking made me goto the post office and pick it up.. THEN WHY THE FUCK DIDNT I JUST DRIVE MY ASS ACROSS THE GOD DAMN STATE TO PICK IT UP!?!?

why??? the most important factor in how a cab sounds is the speakers... mesa recto 4x12 cabs have v30's and are usually over $800 new.. a new avatar 4x12 cab with v30's will cost a couple hundred less because it's factory direct and doesnt say mesa on it... and i doubt most people could hear much of a difference...
and a word of advice... stock blue voodoo cabs are horrible, no good at all... however the ones with vintage 30's(it will have a decal on the botton right that say's "vintage 30 equiped") are great._

no harm, no foul man. yeah, its probably my favorite marshall head, next to tsl 60/100. so i dont think youd be going wrong on that for most kinds of non brutal death metal.
