Hardest type of Musician to find?

I don't know if any of you guys have tried to start up a band (Im assuming so since metal calls us musicians together), but have you noticed that its almost impossible to find the one musician your in dire need of??

I've been searching Long Island for about a year now for a Drummer. All I've found is Punk/Hardcore drummers and Slipknot wannabe's. Its dissappointing and Disheartening.

My group has recently removed everyone but me. I KICKED THEM ALL OUT!!! There my friends but my drummer sucked, the guitarist/vocalist was unoriginal and not too good either, and the bassist left before I could say fuck off. I'm putting together a new group and all I have so far is a possible bassist, and he still needs to try out.

I think vocals are hardest to find. It's hard to scream good and growl good and sing good. Finding anyone who's good and original really.

Drummer, its even hard to find a shitty drummer around here. I can do Vocal's so i dont really worry about that... but if someone else wants to sing then fine i dont really care. Me and my friend are awesome guitarist as a pair, its like slayer.. we just fit so well together. Bassist are easy too. I havent found any keyboardist... not that ive been looking though

Definatly a drummer. Most great drummers are already dedicated to a band and the rest either suck or arn't dedicated. Drummers are always lazy too.

definately a drummer.
I know many many guitar players, and quite a few bassists too. But the few drummers I know, either suck or are in in bands.

Keyboards! KEEEYBOARDS. I play keyboards myself, but I'm needed for other things. We spoke to a lot of people who play instruments, most of them play guitar, some play bass, and one plays drums, but none play keyboards.

my personal experience is that singers are hardest to find, simply because ive known a drummer for a long time so it was no problem when we started our band. still dont have a singer though

I'm like BLS, I'm a death vocalist so that rules out the vocalist catagory. I can play bass if my band didn't have a bassist so thats out of the question. Almost everyone where I live can play guitar so that not a problem. A drummer for me is hard to find because I'm picky when it come to drums. Double bass is manditory for my band!

That was my problem. My drummer always sat on the couch while everyone else was writing and we'd be like "We're changing the chorus, rather than being all fast and shit it's gonna be slow!" Then he'd be like "I don't care," and when we go to play he complains he never had a chance ot write his parts!!!!!!!! He should've jumped in. That and there were too many fills. Drum fills are good, but not every other measure!!

The Drummer Definitely is hard to find, but I also think that a vocalist that has originality and not just a frickin growl that sounds like ass.

For me its keyboards. I now play keyboards, lead+rhythem guitar, and vocals. But I can more easily find a vocals than keyboards. Keyboards takes more talent than vocals. I can do what needs to be done in a studio but for live i dont know what im going to do. I dont have the members i need. Most important for me is the keyboards.

AND THEY STEAL FROM THEIR BEST FRIENDS

Seriously every drummer I've jammed with stole shit from friend. Except for my friend in Detroit who was an amazing drummer...He learned Iced Earth songs beat by beat exactly how Christy plays them and he developed a technical style from it. I'm dis close "makes a little measurment with fingers" to going back there to make a band...but I'd be throwing away everything I have going for my future here if I did that.

Right now I have no bassist...no rhythm guitarist, no drummer, no vocalist. I can play rhythm/vocals(growling and screaming/leads. But I need a bassist and drummer...what shall I doo doo.
I have a notebook filled font to back with riffs and leads and lyrics too...last band I was with here in Denver didnt do shit and blamed it on me cause I quite smoking pot. I showed them the notebook and pretty much gave the fucking material to them (which wasn't my job anyways) but all they did was smoke pot and not play. So I picked up my guitar during a session and left. Now I'm with my daddy

Hahaha thats so true! I asked a drummer who likes Slayer, D-S, Amon Amarth etc if he wants to drum for a metal band, and he said "I dunno, i'm pretty lazy, how often would we practice?"

drummers for sure.

well, i do vox and guitar, i have a bass player, i need a fucking drummer, and maybe another guitarist, though the stuff i write doesnt have leads, i dont write leads very well, i am a rhythm player, a lot of complex and fast chord changes and shit, but finding a drummer that can do the on a dime tempo changes and odd signatures, and even as simple as keep accurate time is hard as fuck

heh yeah it's drummers here as well, but like BLS Said where i'm at i can't even get shitty drummers. hell i'd even give the slipknot wannabe's a tryout, if they can hold a good double bass at least it's something. anyway my drummer just left for the military so the pains of finding a drummer are driving me fucking crazy, and if any of you remember we were supposed to start a tour soon. fucking drummers they all have something wrong with them, i've never found a "normal" one so to speak, and if any of ya happen to be drummers in the western PA area, email me if ya wanna be in a band.

also keyboardists are fairly difficult to find. at least ones that play metal are. most keyboardists i've played with don't quite understand how to fit into a metal band. they are used to just playing completely themselves or like playing chord progressions on the keys

but yeh, i have trouble finding good musicians meself........

only band ive ever been in was a poop punk band in year 8. we had 2 rehearsal sessions before we kicked the drummer out cos he sucked, and the bass player left because he was a fucking lazy arsehole.

but im singing in a noise/grindcore band at the moment its great fun, we get top crowd responses

I agree. I like to have a couple of beer when I jam. Just a couple though. Loosens me up and I become more experimental with my bass. Every once and awhile, it's great to get trashed with your band and just fuck around though. Play the heaviest shit you can. And just fucking go crazy.

The one drummer I knew, he was so good. But his Ego.......his fucking Ego. He wouldn't get off his lazy ass to do anything and he wanted all the songs to be centered around the Drums. It was so ridiculous but I put up with it because its hard to find drummers.

Then he has the audacity to kick ME out........

Ooo, Im sorry, I meant to put keyboards. Just ignore Hybrid I guess.

I guess i should be greatful then. My drummer has been one of my best friends for 5 years. He started playing drums about 3 years ago and he always told me that we should have a band. In the mean time i started playing guitar on a little box set amp my friend gave me when i bought his guitar. My other best friend used to play drums. So me and his brother had a little band that used to play slow god dethroned and six feet under songs, with me on voclas and the two brothers on drums and guitar. After a few sessions both of them quit playing alltogether. So i got back to playing guitar all the time, by myself. Eventually the old drummer picked up bass, and one of our other friends played drums with us. That didnt last long. After that i started to talk to my old friend that started drums 3 years ago. He got a new drumset and we started jamming at my house. Thats my current band. Hes a badass drummer and really dedicated to this band weve got going. So i guess it was easy for me to get the drummer. and that drummer just found a keyboardist whos had piano lessons for 6 years!

As far as my ears can tell me, the limiting factor in a new band is the frontman. Many, many talented musicians are wasted with shitty incompetent frontmen. More advanced bands seem to have a much harder time finding a drummer who can play 2^10 BPM and still keep rhythm.

I hate drugs. All my friends I can't talk to anymore cuz they got off of drugs and they say some weird shit. they think me telling my dog to go outside is hilarious, and I can't deal with that. I had a singer who we had to kick out bcuz he od'd once and then again on a day when we had practice. Another time, we had this dude trying out for bass but on the day he was supposed to try out he went skateboarding!! I think the biggest problem is finding sum1 who is dedicated. Most of my friends are like, "I want to join," and they try out and they're fine. But when we have practice, they want to do sumthing else. Being in a band is supposed to be fun but there's work involved too, and if yu can't cut it, I don't care if yur my bruther, yu can fuck off!

how the hell do you centre a song around drums...did he write a drum riff and say "play a guitar thing over this, then this, then i do a solo, then another guitar thing over this..."

all songs are centred around the guitars, and maybe bass...because that is what drives a song, thats how songs are written...i hope you told him whats what.

around near i am, drummers are fairly easy to find as are guitarists/bassists. The only problem is looking for a shit hot versatile singer. Good Keyboardists are also hard to find

There are tons of musician's here. Trick is finding ones who play metal, the only sick metal drummer in the area is in my band, (he's lazy but will jam anytime) all the other's just couldn't hack it at all. Everyone around here is either NU metal or they like really shitty metal bands.

And you can't blame weed for you band mates being ADHD it just means they aren't dedicated to jamming.

Probably a drummer, but my best friend and I thought up the idea to make music in 6th grade... uh... He played drums, and I had always wanted to start playing guitar, so I did, and here I am.

Nothing.

No seriously though, around here, there are no bassists. I know one, but the guy is a schizo, and there is no way in hell I'll let him around my equipment.

Its not hard to find any of those in the list here, but they wont play metal! My friend is a pretty good bassist but he won't play metal because he thinks it sucks, fuck him. I have another friend who plays bass who would like to play bass but i'm afraid he sucks real bad, and one guy who plays guitar that is actually quite good and plays metal, but he is too stubborn to learn anything new. There is this greek guy in my class that has begun to play guitar and he might go metal, hes one of my friends.

Nearly all the rest of the people playing guitar at my school are EMO fuckheads, as are the vocalists, drummers and bassists.

I played drums in a punk band, and i have to admit, i was pretty lazy and i couldnt do anything except stoneage fills and 4th note pace at like 148 bpm?

I say all but vocalist and guitar. Although for me, at school I can pick out a 5 piece band quite easily, it just if they're willing to play together in a metal band.

Vocalists and bassits are rare too I guess....I would sing for another band...but I can't play and sing...but its not like a practise or anything.

I have a shure58 mic, nothing to plug it into and I lost my stand for it...
