Hahahahahahaha, that reminds me of yesterday. My sister and I went to Kroger for Dr. Pepper, and we came across the local High School orchestra playing Brandenburg No. 3. They sucked ass, and my sister dared me to take the kid's string bass and wip out some fucking solo and show 'em up, but I didn't.
Oh right, my favs are:
Mozart 35, 39
Othelo
...eh, I'll finigh this later I can't think

Paganini's 24th Caprice. Taking about a month of my life to learn it, I kind of have to love it.

Funny how even the most extreme metal heads respect and enjoy classical music. Both types of music are on completely different worlds as far as the feeling, imo. I like most classical music, especialy church organ type stuff, but I don't keep up with the names.

Yeah. Thanks.
I think it's called Kannon, but I'm not entirely sure. A piece written for a string quartet. Every time I hear it I vague out hardcore. So cool.
Also, any chamber music really. Strings rule.

Classical and metal are more closely related than you think. As for the original question, anything by Bach, one of my biggest influences.

I realize that but they are still very different. The audiences are the biggest difference though. Metalheads could be moshing away trying to kill each other but as soon as the classical music starts they all stop, set back and talk about how great the classical music is. It's very cool.
It's like the Grimlin's! They go around causing pure chaotic disorder, but as soon as the Snow White cartoon comes on they all stop, watch and love it! Very inronic

The Planets Suite by Holst is one of my favourites - especially Mars and Jupiter. 60+ minutes well spent.

its becasue of musical apreciation, rather than metal or whatever as an immage (like the hardcore kids)
i mean, to listen to some of the underproduced shit that comes out under genera of gorgrind i would have to apreciate the skill, wouldn't i?
i don''t specifically know any classical pieces, although my friends and i used to ocasionally cruise around with the classical station played extremely loud(ala. those tools wuth their shitty bass music), and whistle at old ladies, those were the days

Actually some metal bands / songs are in very influenced from classical music's theme, those are called as Neo-Classical metal, though Neo-Classisism isn't defined as a musical genre. For example the famous Burzum is neo-classical metal, because it uses some sort of classical structure in its songs (especially in the Hvis Lyset Tar Oss) and its theme is somehow in a classical feeling. Other good ones are: Paysage d'Hiver, (new) Graveland, and Summoning. But maybe this wasn't really the point which you ment (EG. For a person who is fan of brutal death metal, listening to classical music isn't relevant / rational).
Back to the topic, Ride of the Valkyries, by Richard Wagner is may fav classical song.

All I was thinking was that there is a metalhead that goes to a classical concert and after it is over, everyone else is claping but he stands up, pumps a fist in the air and says, " THAT FUCK KICKED ASS, YEAH"

Most classical, while I respect it, I cannot stand because it sounds so "fluttery".
Gustav Holst's - The Planets is damn wicked though.

I like classical. I don't listen to it much, because of lack of it around here, and all my money goes towards other CDs and other things.

Does anyone know the name of the classical song in Earthworm Jim 2? It plays in the stage were EWJ has lost his suit and swims around in a really weird place. Anyways, I really love that song, definitly one of my favorites.

Hmm, I have always comprehended that it isn't, because I see it actually only a theme of making the music. Like you mentioned some artists make their music with influences from old classical music (instruments, structure), but I don't see it as a other musical genre. For example Paysage d'Hiver is Black Metal, but it uses classical instruments sometimes in its music and the theme is somehow "classical", so it is considered as a Neoclassical Black Metal. But then there could be some Ambient band which have this same situation, it uses classical instruments and so on. And it is also considered as a Neoclassical music. But it would be stupid to consider it as an other musical genre, it would same as classifying "Melodic" as a musical genre, Melodic Death Metal, Melodic Power Metal, etc. Yes, for example in a review you can (or even should) should describe the music Neoclassical, if it is, like you would describe some band melodic, if it is. But correct me if I am wrong, as you might have noticed I don't really know about this stuff.

I love alot of Study's by variouse composers, LIKE bach, and beethoven, and vivaldi, and such, because, they screw around all the time, and end up writing it down, which makes me realize, i screw around alot on me guitar, and i dun write it down, i could make billions! Wait, what was this thread about?

I've heard, from various sources, it being called "Night On Bald Mountain" and "Night On Bare Mountain". Must be due to the translation from Russian to English - Russian may only have one word for 'bare' and 'bald', for example. Great piece of music though, it always reminds me of a storm.
