My computer got infected with sp0rkeh after someone told me to download it...i didnt think it was a virus. So i did a google search and found the website
http://members.lycos.co.uk/dns2php/ and they told me to download fixswen so i did...but when i did and tried to install it it said error:Installation failed..can sum1 please help me please...ill reallly appreciate any help u give me and for the people who started this crap...im going to do everything to get u sued....

type in "format c: /u"
that will get rid of the virus permenintly (as well as everything else)

True. The only way to comletely destroy the virus is to format the hard drive and reinstall everything. If you have a back up of everything this takes no time to do. If not, then do it and then make back up's of everything for next time this happens.

depends
if you are using Windows XP (most people are now) you should be able to boot from the CD and then you can format it from that
make sure that your computer is set up for booting from the CD (or change it so it is) by pressing Del (above the arrow keys) and there is an option in there somewhere that allows you to boot from a CD, JUST MAKE SURE YOU DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE (as you could turn off hard drive detection or something like that)
then once the setup runs follow the instructions, somwhere there will be a chance to format your hard disk
if you dont have windows XP say so and i will try again

formating will result in loosing EVERYTHING that is on the computer (well on the partician you have which is usually only one), that means Windows as it is (including all the settings) all the programs, all your ilegal Mp3s, all your porn, everything

if you think that is a bit drastic, then search for a virus checker on google (something like McAffe has trial versions i think) and hope that that will fix it

any time a virus comes onto my computer, mcafee instantly catches it. It also it gets rid of spyware.

you wil be removing the windows you have there now, and putting it on again from scratch, if there is anything you want to keep on your computer though i recomed you burn it onto a cd or something first though

DONT reformat yet, if you are gonna reformat backup any important files you have.

first i want you to download http://download.nai.com/products/mc...ert/fixswen.inf again. right click, install. If this fails again then reboot your comp in safe mode, do this by pressing the "F8" key when your system starts up. One your in safe mode try to install the fix AGAIN. Hopefully this will work if not i recommend you use ant antivirus program like AVG http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/ its free and is ALOT better than Norton. Just follow the instructions, enter a valid e-mail it will send you a link to the download then after you download it you will recive and activation code in your e-mail. If you STILL cant remove Sp0rkeh then post back here and ill see what else we can try.

I apologie's for what happened to you due to some ignorant fool, please dont hold a grudge against Metaltabs.com if you check some of my older post you can see that i did all i could to make sure their were as few victims to this attack as possible.

Update Windows, if you are on XP. Alot of worms/virii's use the RPC buffer exploit still, so you don't have to open any file to get one. That will cover you there. Then, download AVG, or Stinger. That should get rid of most things, depending on how up-to-date your virus definitions are. Then it won't come back.

ok the virus does not allow me to open the program...it does not allow me to opern control panel or any other programs that can get rid of the virus.....when ever i try to open it it reads lsass.exe error.....OMG

All you need your computor for is www.metaltabs.com anyway, so whats the problem?

it does not allow me to end it it says its a critical process......i cant even reformat my computer.....if i try to open DOS it says 16 bit and it says i cant open it and when i try to change it to 24 bit the virus doesnt let me...PLEASE HELP ME...is there another way to get to DOS and do i need my windows xp CD to reformat?

Someone needs to make a virus that eats other viruses. A true anti-virus. You keep it as a pet in you PC, let it look through your stuff hunting for viruses, then eats them.

That would be a cool and fun anti-virus. You could check on it and see it grow as it eats more and more viruses. I bet it would sell!

One way around that is to hard start your computer. Once that weird screen with all the numbers and shit pops up push the keys that allow you to access your BIOS. Check your manual to see what keys to use to access the BIOS as some computers are different. Once you are in the BIOS you can change the BOOT priority from the hard drive to the CD drive. ONLY change just that and don't fuck with anything else. Now insert the Windows CD, restart, and go from there. You computer will use to CD to BOOT up and not the hard drive, so you should now be able to run programs. Now you can maybe run a anti-virus program if it's on the CD, and kill this virus, or you can now format the hard drive. Once the computer is fixed, make sure to change your BIOS back. The BIOS determinds how your computer starts up and stuff and the virus can't affect it, so don't worry about that.
