I have scanned it with AVG and spybot, both find nothing wrong. Any other programs I should get to have a look with?

Being an L33t metal head like you, i assume you have a CD burner. My advice is back up everything you want to keep (personal files, porn, etc.) and FORMAT THE BITCH. That or uninstall windows, and reinstall it.
Make sure you have about an entire day set aside for it. You might have problems. Good luck, shithead

I would think you would.
You should go out and get a 200gb hard drive. You can add it to what you already have. Don't fill up your main drive, though, or it'll get slow as shit. Just to let you know. Thats what slave drives are for.

Yeah. 200 is nothing for the person who downloads a ton of shit. My drummer already had 2 120gb and and 80gb. And he is getting another 250.

When I try install messenger it comes up with "The installer has encounted an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2908." and then it says "Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel." and at the end it says "MSN messenger setup has failed with error code: '1603'. Please go to the MSN Messenger Web site and download the software from there.".
When I play songs winamp comes up but nothing happens. I also can't see the contents of the recycle bin.

sounds like a corrupt file, re download msn messenger. The winamp this is a bug i sometimes get. You need to open the file with somethign like windows media, or play a video clips... play a powertab or something, you need to play something with sound then winamp will work. As for the recryling bin porblem. Look at the bottom does it says 0 objects?? if it dosent then goto "view, folder options, view, then select show all files.
hopefully that will fix it. It also dosent hurt to defrag your comp often, and update your drivers.

It seems I don't have any sound also. I have re downloaded messenger twice. The recycle bin apparently has 8 objects in them but I can't see them and I still can't see the stuff in the add/remove programs.

as for the sound...
right click my computer, click the device manager tab, and scroll down to sound, video and game controllers. Expand that section, is thier infact a driver install for your sound card (or in your case sound chip) ???

update your AntiVirus run a full system scan for everything. If it doesn't find anything go into your control settings -Add/Remove Programs -Remove all MSN Messenger Files -Delete your MSN Folder reboot then try to reinstall MSN. Do the same with Winamp. If that doesn't work try system revert to the day before it all stopped working. And if that doesnt work just format.
What MSN version did you have before? And What version are you trying to install?

i concur, you probably have a virus
or a billion add programs from all those porn sites you visit that you cant get rid off
also make sure there isnt a mass ammount of shit running in the background (stuff in the bottom right of the bar, close as much as you can and try the stuff again
usually when it starts running verry slow you are fucked and you have to reinstall, just make sure you delete the old version first, rather than just installing over the top of it, as "you cant fix a hole in the wall with a new coat of paint"
to delete it, make some kind of startup disk (i believe you can do it somewhere in ME) and start up with that, go to c: and type the following line " deltree windows " which will take about 20 minutes and its one of those really cool programs that deletes itself, then reinstall, that way you dont have to format your hard drive

128 MB RAM are not much! it isnt good to do 2 things at the same time with so less RAM. But that's naot the problem of the messager. What for a messager are you trying to install ?
For the winamp problem: I have Winamp 5.1 and it works without bugs !

128 shouldnt be a problem with ME unless he is running lots of crap in the background

yeah that's it and I had ME before and I had a lot of problems with it but now I have XP and nearly no more problems, but anyway it's microsft.
I think the problem is the messagener.

Its not a virus dumbfucks. Update your sound drivers, or reinstall the current driver.

Not mine.
Apparently it can hold 2 years of non-stop music and one month of non-stop video. And its not that big (in actual size).

Looks like I have to reformat, I have a few questions though. There has been a Sound card and graphics card installed on it, how will it affect them and how can I keep my original settings?
Also I have two hard drives, if I move all the shit I want to keep onto the one I am not reformating will it stay there?

if you format all setting will be gone and you will have to reinstall them
i assume with 2 different hard drives you have 2 different particians (i.e. c : and D: ) when you format one partician the other remains untouched
does that help?

windows generally has default drivers that come with it and it automatically sets up things (i never bother with doing any set up for my sound card), your graphics card is a different matter though, you will probably have to visit the manufactueres site and download the latest drivers

My mum said she installed it. Apparently the first time we refomated it we had to go to a website and install a heaps of driver. Fucks me man, I'll probably end up taking it to the computer shop.

probably best if you have no idea of what to do, but windows does a decent job of installing generic drivers for pretty much everything, so provided you dont want the cool 3d effects that only a $300 graphics card can provide, it should be fine as it

Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE. Does the process window pop-up? I just finally managed to get rid of a virus that disabled a lot of processes.
