I don´t know if u know the popular computergame battlefield:vietnam, but it got that nice radio-feature, so u can listen to different songs while using a vehicle. for this game there will be some modifications made by amateurs (like counterstrike is a modification for halflife) for free, and these mods are going to be popular, too. i´m talking about hundreds or thousands of 16-30 year old people playing that game and listening to it´s music.

i´m helping to develope such a mod and i got the idea that this could be a good platform for unknown bands to be heard. every style of music is possible and i mean every style. in game u would be able to enter a vehicle, turn on the radio and pick ur song or one of the others in the playlist. the song would still belong to the band/musician and u would always have the right to withdraw ur song from the mod for any reason.

so, i´d like to know if there is interrest in general. are there any bands/musicians out there, who would like to be heard in a computergame by a lot of people and do i miss any law issue? can it be so simple? is there any other forum which would be a better place for my question?

Thats a pretty cool idea, but honestly how long do you stay in a vehicle in bf??? i know in the original one if you were in a vehicle too long then.... BAM your dead. Their just bullets magnets

its possible to stay a long time in a vehicle. in special cases u can survive in a chopper a whole game while listening to music.
ok, when i said, every style is possible, i was propably wrong. i also should say, no track longer than 8 minutes or so...

thx to let me know that it´s a good idea, but do u also know bands who would like to participate? dont give me names, just the idea. and do u know a forum where i could reach many bands with my call, if this is really going to happen?

you gonna do 'metal' in general or subgenre's too? (for different mods?)

see, if you want a Trash mod, you'de need to have the obvious anthrax, old metallica, etc.

if you want a death metal mod, you'de need some kickass death metal including suffocation and morbid angel etc.

if you want a black metal.... etc. etc. you get the idea.

or do you want one metal mod in general with a bunch of kickass songs?

i think a good mix would be great. u know, a lot of different people are going to play the mod and there should be something for everyone. because u can change easily the tracks and the other players have to listen to ur music as well, when they are near ur vehicle, people are confronted with styles of music they never wanted to and maybe they gonna like it.for example i could imagine: a good hard grind-core track for flying choppers, some ska for driving long roads and some house for relaxing plane flying. just examples. it depends also on what would be send to us and who would be in charge for selecting the tracks.

and def: we cant use any old metallica tracks or morbid angel or any other copyrighted stuff, i´d be looking for unknown, maybe labelless bands who would be happy to have such a big audience.

we'll its hard to find 'good' labelless bands, because there's obviously a reason why they are not on a label

for ska, you're in the wrong place, lol, but I'm sure people can help you out with the metal bit around here.

that´s true but i think even bands without labels can have at least one good track.
also we can change the soundtrack every update of the mod. depends on how many bands are interested.
